    Hi Stripey Watched a few of your videos all great. Arran is probably my favourite Scottish Island just beats Skye as it is smaller less touristy and great for hillwalking and cycling. Even sailed round it !! Been going for 45 years. When I was younger and less careful I took my sons then aged about 9 and 10 along past the Witches step. Used the by pass obviously but still a bit risky with young boys. Fortunately no incidents apart from the younger one telling his mum his heart was going boom boom boom!! on return. The scenery is fantastic and your video does it justice

    Hey Stripey! Love this video. Lots of excitement with the scramble. Last week I was in wales with 17kg ruck sake and had a scare when I felt my self falling back whilst going up a steep section. You make it look so easy. Maybe I need to get rid of some weight. Superb video, simplistic set up, stunning views, all good. Thanks. ATB Serk

    • @StripeyHatGuy
      @StripeyHatGuy  2 года назад +1

      Hi Serk 👋
      Thanks a lot, was good to use the hands finally again 😃. Yeah 17kg is a lot for steep sections, not sure if I have even this weight with full winter equipment - the best way to reduce weight is writing a list with all the stuff you take and then after the tour ticking things off you needed/used/missed - gave Robert the same advice and he lost after a few tours like 4+kg.
      Thanks

      @@StripeyHatGuy Hi Stripey. I was on a multi day hike, but yes, too much weight. I do keep a list of unused items but find it hard to leave some things behind. I was thinking of listing the weights of each item to help. Anyway, looking forward to your next adventure Stripey!

    Incredible location, well deserving of being described as 'the Highlands in Miniature'. What a great camping plateau at the top as well. Some bits were giving me vertigo just watching you, but I guess that's the wide angle lens more than anything. Glad you didn't go for the Witch's Step. If there's an easy way around you're not proving anything by making it difficult for yourself.

    • @StripeyHatGuy
      @StripeyHatGuy  2 года назад

      Hi Iain,
      the Witch's Step is actually the gap between the two rocks on top of the 'peak', the bypass is on the north side of the step.
      Yeah the wide angle lense makes it more dramatic then it is, I do film on linear to keep it to a minimum (no fish eye effect) but it still alters the view particular close and far off. Far away things appear more flat, close up they look bigger...
      Thanks for watching!
