looks like the Konecy trade rumors and mock trade can stop.
😂
Quit reporting on Liane, there is nothing new he has been linked to every team in the NHL and half the KHL, so nothing reported will be new.
Nah, it's a sign-and-trade deal. You'll see!😂
Bowman gave seth jones 9.5 million for 8 years. He is probably going to offer draisaitl either 20 million a year for 8 years or 7 million for 8 years. Either sounds like stan bowman.
he'll trade him for Kadri and a 1st
You know it’s never just 1 guy that pulls the trigger and makes the moves, that wasn’t just bowman who signed and traded for that jones contract it was multiple people in the hawks organization, so in Edmonton it won’t just be bowman there’s always a group of people
He’s gotta make a bad trade to get nurse out of Edmonton
@Mitch-ui8ps Yeah but he's the GM, so he's the one that gets the blame and it's ultimately his call to make. Never seen people blame Chiarelli's staff for deals he made etc
@@brendan8637 you won't like what he will get back lol... somehow will make nurse worth his deal.
Konecny is going to be a future Flyers captain one day.
If Washington gets Laine they win the Columbus-Winnipeg trade because they end up with both PLD and Laine
Too bad they won’t win another playoff game
Or they lose the trade😅
Having laine and pld on your team isnt a good look haha
Majestic news from Philly.
I figured Stan’s first move would be to trade Draisaitl for Brandon Saad!
Yes please
Will be Laine and a 3rd for Draistl
Hey as a CBJ fan I was always partial to those trades….classic
This made me laugh hard af 😂
I thought it'd be signing a recommendation letter for a known sexual predator.
Dune III: return of the yotes to the desert
Sure glad I was just browsing my way through and happened across this video
I'll see you again.... Soon
I use boss analogies when I try to explain hockey contracts and trades to my friends who aren't into hockey.
Also, I wish I could go to my boss and ask for a trade like hockey players do.
Conspiracy theory: Suns owner saw the Coyotes owner from the start as New Arena competition. Knowing that he has to build his, doubt city will build 2. So he helps push Coyotes out. Now on top of that he gets to use Coyotes as a carrot stick to help get his arena approved. Saying he will bring them back.
Kocecny 8 years 8.75 seem high ,for a winger at 5.10 192 ,best season 68 points, it was last season. Seem to miss around 15 games a year due to injury.
probably at is peak or very close at 27 years old.
8 years for any amount of money seems high to me.
@@bartsanders1553 its reasonable when you consider the contracts out there, Scheif, E.Lindh, Meie, Horv, Buchn, & Guentz - & TK is as good asny of them, hands down Flyers best player
What’s does height and weight have to do with his contract?
Using cap space to sign players in prime when in a rebuild doesn’t make sense to me…. 3-5 years going to have a bunch of rfa that gonna need top dollars and we gonna have and be stuck with an aging player on a huge contract
@@Mitch-ui8ps hum a few bars....it'll come to ya'
I did some quick math, For Leon looking at percentage against cap for his calibre of player; Edm should sign him for 13.8525 Mill for 8 years. Avg over 8 years @ 13% of avg cap at +/- 5 Mill increases per year.
$110 million is 8x $13.75
@cdfmmcc My calculation was weighted by cap growth. i.e cap going up per annum and percentage weighted over term.
Good on The Flyers and TK that makes me happy.
Good deal hes only guy who shows up everynight and maybe him and michov have some chemistry
I liked both of them Reebok Flyers Jerseys not many people did . I think them Jerseys where model after the Flyers alt with Silver in the logo from the early 2000's
I did not understand why Sweeney would trade Ullmark before having Swayman inked to a new contract. It put all the negotiating power into the player's hands. Having Ullmark as plan B would have allowed Boston to put some pressure on Swayman to sign or risk sitting out the year. If somebody came along with a 10M offer sheet, let him go for the 2 firsts, 1 second and third round draft choices and go with a Ullmark/Bussi or a decent available backup like Anthony Stolarz.
It's not like Ottawa's package was too good to pass on. It was a mediocre return at best. If Ottawa's GM had gone on a bender and called offering Korpisalo and Brady Tkachuk with 50% salary retention, then I could see a reason to rush a deal.
To all the so called flyers fans complaining about the konecny contract
We should sell everybody rebuild by tearing down.
Every good carpenter knows that when you remodel you only tear out as much as needs replaced otherwise you will be tearing out good material and need to replace.
I don't know if I agree with Laine not playing up to his contract. In his last 2 seasons in Columbus, with all the off ice issues he's had, he's pretty much scored near a PPG which is reasonable at 8,7M per season. Sure, you'd like him to play a full 82 games and score 40+ goals, but to me, if I'm looking to acquire Laine, the contract isn't much of an issue. The risk is more related to the fact he hasn't been able to completely put his full focus into hockey thus far in his career.
For Laine's sake I hope that he doesn't go back to Winnipeg as the rumors suggest. It didn't end well in Winnipeg so the hill he needs to climb is very high even from the beginning. What I think should happen is that he plays this season in Columbus and then next season he gets to go fresh to a new team with one year left and some sort of retention. One would think Columbus is very unwilling to retain for 2 years for Laine so the deal is very hard to see happen this summer.
It'll be interesting to see what the market is for Laine, cuz I wouldn't touch that contract unless Columbus retains like all of it lol. Although I said the same thing about Erik Karlsson, guess you just got to find a chump who widely overestimates where his team is at.
Anyone still think $8.5 mil per year is still an overpay for Bo Horvat?
Yes it still is
Good thing we traded him.
No, it’s a good contract.
It's on the higher end for how he has been deployed for most of last season, 30 goals per year wouldn't be terrible from him at that AAV but you'll always be wanting more from him, as it was here in van until the year he was traded.
I like the Horvat contract. He is a center, wins a lot of faceoffs and he isn't a slouch defensively.
Mat Isjiba IS A GREAT CHOICE!
Not to be a pessimist, but this Konecny contract is high in my opinion. Reminds me of the Gallagher contract. Gallagher is still a good middle six forward, but age and injuries have made it so that he can't be that 30 goal scorer anymore. We'll see with Konecny I guess.
The problem is that on a crappy Flyers team, Konecny is a #1 RW, and he is getting paid like one. On a good team, he is a second liner. His absolute value should be based on where he fits into the league structure, not on how he fits onto the Flyers. He'll continue to be a 60-70 point well rounded player on a bad Flyers team with no real future. Flyer fans cry "Michkov!" as if Michkov can single handedly bring this team into relevancy.
@@OlsenMath Kaprizov single handedly made the Wild somewhat relevant again. I think you're underestimating the effect Michkov can have on the whole Flyers organization. That being said I still think that Konecny contract is too rich.
This is exactly what it is. After 2 years it’s gonna be messy
Yes absolutely. If Michkov becomes the player Flyers fans expect him to, that contract is horrible already. If Michkov is a 1st liner within the next 2 years, that contract looks terrible. He's a 2nd line RW making 8 million? That's not good, I get you need good top 6 talents but if he really wanted to stay he would have taken 6mil knowing his time on the top line is limited.
@@HarryRiceHockey This is nothing new. He wants to stay, but he definitely knew that he could get a lot in FA so Flyers had to pay in order to keep him here. He’ll also argue that he’s been underpaid most of his career.
I’d expect Atlanta and Houston to get the first expansion teams whenever that may be then Arizona and whatever city they decide weather it’s another US city or another team in Canada
Suns owner wanting an nhl team could be huge. Reason yotes left Phoenix was because the Suns owner at the time didn’t want to share a building
Leon will resign with the oilers I can’t see him not signing.
If I was Leon. I'd sign for like 3 years to a team friendly deal and then get that bag. In free agency.
Matthew's signed a 4 year because he's gunna be 30 when it's done and then get 8 more. Leon's 30 now this is his last payday.
If Swayman were in Toronto wanting a NMC would increase the amount they are willing to pay.
Lou dumps some cap and picks up Laine
A bit of an overpay for Konecny but it won’t be in a few years when the cap goes up
The cap going up makes no difference if players ask for higher AAV before it even happens...
@@maxratesby the time this contract kicks in it will already be up a bit
The Konecny contract will not age well
Thank God Bowman is in the office for the Oilers. What other brilliant hockey mind would have been able to figure out that Draisatl is important to the team and his upcoming contract is also important.
I think it's an overpay but the cap is going up...
Need to know if there's any no-move clause on the Konechny before you can judge it IMO.
It's the Flyers - of course there will be a no trade clause. Do you think Flyers management is competent?
can team and player mutually agree to reduce contract, as well as terminate contract?
No they cannot. When a deal is signed that deal is final. You can buyout a contract but for seniors it's a 66% penalty and juniors a 33% penalty towards the cap.
Hi Shannon !...
Oilers are now my most hated team, hiring bowman. Despicable.
>>> worse than the Maple Leaves...?
@@grandcrowdadforde6127 Yes there's people that hate teams more than the maple leafs 😂
@@justjohnny420 >>being semi-sarcastic! I escaped S. Onterrible 40 years ago!
a petition has been started by oilers fanbase to have him fired due to his history with the Blackhawks
$9 million you have to be so proud of Swayman. Sucks for Boston but lol they're rebuilding for the next decade anyway
They’re gonna give Draisital 16 mil huh
Im with the other Flyer fans that contract is to long for a injury prone player at 27, you are only more prone to injury and longer heal time as you get older. If they were in contention and he is big part of a puzzle sure, but in a rebuild no way!!
I don't think players should be in arbitration meetings for that exact reason Swayman suggested. Your team is going to be trying to get your number down by pointing out bad stats, bad performances, playoff numbers, leads squandered, goals given up via glove or blocker or five hole, etc.
There is no reason to believe Ishbia is any different from Meruelo and that he will be any better a choice for the NHL.
Laine is lookig to do all time assists. Bad joke. If it's not ok. You go and get help. It happens in any professional life. Potetntial is sky high but he has had extremely hard times.
8 Years @$8.75??? That's crazy. I love Konecny, but injuries, age, etc... Too long / Too much.
Konecny is 27. He's 28 when it kicks in plus the cap is going up.
I don't think it's too much but I do agree it's too long.
@@TheHockeyGuy Again... I love Konecny, but with his injuries already, I can't see him playing much by 36. $8.75 for a guy who will be less than a point per game seems a stretch. Ideally I'm wrong and he can be healthy and continue to be one of my favourite players and a great role model for Flyers, because his style of play makes him an ideal Flyer.
8 years. Give me a break! There is absolutely NO way this Konecny contract will age well! Bryzgalov, Atkinson, Lecavalliere, Ellis etc. We are not a joke! We are THE joke!
The Leafs are THE joke in the NHL.
8.75 million for a middle 6 grinder? This contract is going to be so problematic for GMs negotiating with 3rd liners moving forward.
If you threw konecny onto the oilers he would put up 100 point seasons every yr
You have to pay players for what they are not just points
Also konecny had better numbers that sidney crosby for most of this last season and a better plus minus
I guess sidney crosby is overpaid
Bring the NHL back to Minnesota !!!
Hahaha 🎉😂
Unfortunately, Brock will probably get around what Konecny got...
I like it and the right decision by Philly. It’s market value for that type of player
As a flyers fan who loves the player . . . I hate this contract. Supposed to be rebuilding, instead signing a guy in his prime until he's long in the tooth when the team would be hypothetically contending if they actually rebuilt. So the team will be better when they should be tanking and worse when they should be good . . . Perfect. The last time the Flyers traded away a player they developed at the peak of his value would probably be Mike Richards. I just feel this team will never be a contender in my lifetime.
Arizona was like the NHL's Joe Biden: everything was fine, we were assured, and we were absurd (according to handlers higher up, to even question otherwise). Until suddenly it wasn't, and we weren't.
Man this sucks. Flyers just gave a 60 point player 8+ mil. This team will be a joke forever. Danny Briere should just change his name to Ron Hextall.
Phoenix Scorpions
I'm so sick of hearing people say that players should try to get as much money as they can rather than being loyal or having enough intelligence to know that a slight discount may make all the difference in the ongoing competitiveness of the team. I get it with marginal players who may not have a super long career or are making near league minimum, but these greedy fucks who have already made 10s of millions arguing over a few hundred thousand dollars is just selfish and disgusting.
Everyone has different priorities. And really a pro athlete has what 20 years to make as much money as they can to support the rest of their lives?
That aside an athlete making millions to play a game is quite asinine. But that’s the fans fault.
I'm with you thunder. If players want to be on a contender they can't demand for max salary and then complain when they can't ice a good roster. Like with the Leafs.
So what you're saying is, you would be completely fine with taking pay cuts at your job to show your loyalty to your employer.
Yes they're millionaires, but it's still their job, livelihood. It's generally a good idea to make as much money as you can at your job instead of taking pay cuts. They have to deal with potential lifetime damage to the body, they should be able to get that bag if they get a chance to
@@justjohnny420 absolutely and have done exactly that to make sure I was able to keep staff who deserved more but the overall budget could not cover. I felt like I was properly compensated, so rather than me taking a 10% raise (which would cost the org more than giving that 10% (5% each to two awesome employees who make my job easier) just makes sense across the board no)? How much money does anyone really need once you've reached a certain comfort level?
Plot twist. Send pdl back to cbj for liane 🤣
Arizona/Pheonix had their chance and made an orphan of their franchise... There's so many other better fits for an NHL franchise that hasn't had a chance yet and has a install hockey fan base that Arizona doesn't and never had... it's a desert and that is as far a place from ice hockey as you can get... It was fated to fail and it did for obvious reasons!
Go knights 🎶💪
Arizona should get an NHL team after Quebec City gets one and after Seattle gets an NBA team and Montreal an MLB team.
Correct if I'm wrong, but I thought a player could only go to arbitration once in their career so it would not have been an option for Swayman anyway.
A player can file as many times as he wants as long as he is eligible for arbitration. A team can file for arbitration of a player only once.
@@angushiltz4880 Ah, thanks for clarifying.
..it never did work in Arizona..don't blame the last owner..
True I also trust you over THG
Lol. What an idiot
When did they ever have a good owner?
@@TheHockeyGuyNEVER
Every true oiler fan knows Mcdavid runs that team top to bottom....... go back to player who broke his collar bone? Wheres his career :p
8.75 is fair, there was crazy rumors he was asking for 10 and that would’ve been horrific
They always ask for more than theyre going to get, part of negotiations.
This contract will age very, very poorly. Decent player, but they overpaid and for way too long a term. In 4 years they'll be scrambling to move this and will have to retain half 😂
Who would hire bowman?
Millionaires should take less money from Billionaires, why exactly?
No offense to Philadelphia, but they had Claude Giroux during the 2010's and did nothing but went to the finals once when they had richards , carter and giroux down the middle. Philpy wasted giroux years and will only do the same with konecky. Giroux was way better than konecky will ever be.
Are the Bruins waiting to sign Swayman to see if they can get and sign Necas?
Then they can trade out some other players to free up cap then sign Swayman.
No GM would give more than a 3rd rounder for Laine at this point...oh, wait, Stan Bowman's back. Maybe Laine for Draisaitl?
Marner resigns for $12.5m x 8
Still a bit concerned there is going to be an ugly divorce between the Bruins and Swayman
It's going to get done. It's the summer time and players are doing what they can with family and what not before they have to get ready for the season. Remember McAvoy didn't sign his contract until late.
Albatross contract. Guy is a 2nd line winger at best
You could’ve just posted that you don’t know hockey instead.
@@geoffreyallen9314 On what Stanley Cup contender is he a 1st liner on?
Agreed , philly did nothing with a better player in giroux, konecky not even close to giroux level
Shouldn't the fans have any say whether we want another team added to the league? I don't want to reduce the chance of my favorite team winning the Cup.
As a Flyers fan, it doesn't matter to me. There could only be two teams in the league - Flyers and anyone else - and we would never win the Cup.
Only way a fan would have that control would be if you could pay the owners a billion dollars to not expand for x amount of years.
@@csolivais1979 The fans are the reason they make their money. Without us the league wouldn't exist. We are an important part of it
True. If fans stop showing up then owners will listen. That’s the only way
@@maxrates Personally it doesn't bother me. And fans don't have any kind of real power. Unless you can collectively get millions of people to stop spending their money on a product, it doesn't matter
I'm a fan of McDavid and Draisaitl, but I hope the Oilers pay them above what everyone expects, and they have bugger all money to put a good team around them.
They can fall flat in they're buts for Connor and Leon's greediness, and the Hawks take they're playoff spot 😁😁
what the fuck are we doing philly
Same as we always do! Sign a player because he is good for the "culture". All we do is lose - why do we want a culture of losing?
