I heard this played on the bell tower in my campus this morning and immediately came to RUclips to see another iteration of it. It nearly made me cry walking across my chilly campus wishing I was wrapped in wizards robes. Can’t wait to hear it again!

I've watched quite a few videos with carillonneurs, and they are nearly always superb musicians and great advocates and ambassadors for their chosen instrument. It is a continuing delight to me to hear the bells.

@PAMELA Chatman My alma mater, Iowa State University has a fine carillon program and was the first University to have a tenured Professor of Carillon!

I have a shirt I love t ok wear with a venn diagram on it. It has intelligence, social ineptitude, and obsession on it. Intelligence and social ineptitude is Dweeb, social ineptitude and obsession is dork, obsession and intelligence is geek, and where all 3 overlap it says nerd. When people mention it I say this shirt proves it, I'm a nerd.

A little late to the game here, but I wanted to let you know that I'm pretty sure I was walking across the quad when you were playing this and it was beautiful. I still remember hearing this and being AMPED that my time had come :D. Thanks for making that lasting memory! One of the great ones from UR.

Thanks for your comment. I hadn't thought of this in so long! It was definitely around this time of year, too. It was one of those times in my life where I was like, "wow I hope others will enjoy this as much as I do." It makes me so happy that it made you feel that way!!!

My friend's father plays the carilon. Apparently, they want me to try it if I ever go and visit them (they live 2 hours away). Being the musical nerd that I am and wanting to play as many instruments as possible (I play 4 regularly), I'm obviously super excited :D

Hey! I'm a carillonneur too. I think it's great that the instrument is getting so much exposure on RUclips--good for you! (I play at the University of Denver.)

Great! Awesome technique! Not many young carillonneurs in the world today. Much like organists, but even more so, they are a dying breed. Hope to hear more! Keep up the most excellent work!

@Synaps4 It was composed for Carillon bells. @amward Its not choreography it is his body moving. ( Choreography is a specific composition of bodily movements intended to be performed with or [usually] without music.) You just don't understand when you play an instrument you move with the music. He's tres cool for doing this so piss off.

JESUS!!! Who IS this kid???? About the only person I've ever seen -- or heard -- who can make a carillon MUSICAL. Technique is interesting, must have been how one played an organ about 5-600 years ago as organists were called "organ beaters." Though this guy doesn't really "beat." Are there more of these videos??
