It is so good to know that people are still willing to invest in their communities and make them a better place for everyone. We need more people like you in this country!
So, how hard was it keeping Aaron from helping with the sheepsfoot roller?
The citizens of Derby are very lucky to have you as a resident in their community.
Black trucks. The ideal colour for an asphalt haul truck. 🤠🇨🇦
Looks great ! Thanks for giving back. You'll never have enough time, money, or resources, but the important things are where your heart is. Yours is in the right place Mike. It is greatly appreciated I am sure by the community.
Well it's clear those asphalt guys know their business.......... Phenomenal work
That brought back some memories from my younger years, you never forget the smell of hot asphalt. Keep Smilin
Mike, I know your elders are smiling on how great your maintaining, expanding, and handling the family business....I take my hat off to you, Man behind the scenes, Mister Millennial and Farmer Chis... GREAT CHANNEL....and your Letsdig18 cameo's are priceless....Pepsi anyone?
I can smell that through the camera! Smells like money!!!
Honestly, amazing to see you investing into the community, love seeing stuff like this!
I'm amazed though that you're still in asphalt season - plants up by Indy shut down at Thanksgiving this year.
You do wonderful things for your community. Derby is lucky to have the Simon family and DP.
Nice improvements at the Market and the community center. The Derby area is lucky they have all the support from the community and specifically from DP and Simon Excavation. Its something you should be very proud of. Thanks Mike for all you do and the great videos.
My property was a Sawmill that milled down the town from a dense forest. Masonic brothers owned it and the mill is still in use but moved down the highway.
Prayers for Nuts319.
You could have put up an 8 hour video of these guys and I would watch every minute.
Your favorite brand Kubota skid loader being used by the asphalt company. I was waiting for you to comment on it. Thanks for the great camera and aerial footage. Nice looking properties.
Great community! All helping out for a better place to enjoy! Thanks! 👌👍
Helped lay asphalt one summer all I can say is don’t miss that job lol it’s rough for shovel and rake guys
Looking mighty good guys it’s hard to beat the old hot mix for a durable surface as one of your other viewers said you never forget that smell it stays with you
Awesome job buddy, making Derby look better all the time. Keep up the great work.
Thank buddy one pice at a time.
Ya need a couple of BBQ's with tables & chairs & roof covers !!!
Beautiful spot for a party !!!
Looks good 👍, nice drone footage. Have a great day
Thank you DP for explaining what the asphalt spreader does. I worked for caterpillar building accessories (buckets, blades, grapples, and forestry machines) for 6 years. The simple explanation you said was spot on.
Fantastic improvement to the market property and community boat ramp. Keep up the good work.
Here in UK asphalt is different, the asphalt is spread with the same machine but
immediately after the asphalt machine comes another machine that "sprinkles" 3/4inch stone which is coated in liquid bitumen, this is called the wear coat, then the stones are pushed into the asphalt with roller
They do the same here on Oklahoma roads
They do that here also on existing rock roads. Top seal. Or old asphalt cracking etc hot tar and gravel. To seal it again. Rock roads a all crushed limestone here in indiana. White dust all summer. All water up in middle of indiatna limes up coffer and tea pots
Western indy is rusty coal country. Iron in water.
Red iron and white lime cruds up water heaters bad.
Culligan man makes a good living.. filtering water.. haha
Location, location, location, on the river. Just lovely.
If I’m ever in the area I’ll be sure to stop by the Derby market to get a bite and some gas, and fill up the car too!😆 the place is looking spiffy
Ah, the scent of hot blacktop in the morning 😃
Great to see two projects getting some more attention, only way the Derby is going is up 💪💪💪
You have a great community minded set up, it is paying dividends all round 👍😁
Nice to see Derby growing!
That's money well spent. Both lots look great
Oh man what a way to start the morning! 45 minute drive to the job site gave me just enough time to catch the new video! Looks awesome can’t wait to come visit the world famous Derby Market soon!
I can't see that truck bed ever rusting. Looking good.
Good morning sunshine! Just another reason to love this channel! You just never know what you are gonna see! I love it! Much love from Henderson Ga USA
Both projects look great. Helps the community grow. Always terrific vidoes. Thanks Mike. Stay safe
The first is the breakdown roller and the second is the finish roller.
The target mix temp is 350 degrees.
And a...CAT 55E paver.
CAT...The King if Dirt!
Thanks for the explanation of the metal structures in the river... I was wondering.
So nice to see that asphalt pavers have not changed in fifty years, since they were perfected at Barber- Greene co. Aurora Illinois.
In Iraq the driveway to my building got paved. It took two or more weeks before we could drive on it, it took that long to lose enough heat and be hard. Mind you if you turned your steering wheel while on is you still made marks six months later!
Awesome video and job there Mike. Wonderful that you're doing to help and give to the Derby community. Continued success in 2024.
The progress being done looks awesome Mike! A lot of upgrades done at the river. Thank you for bringing us along on your adventure!!
Hi Mike, looks outstanding, great job should add to the appeal for people to use your store and boat ramp, thanks for the video...................................see ya
When I was a kid my uncle would pave and the paver had rollers that would go inside the most rear wheels. So in paving season the most rear wheels would be steel and the rest would be high polished aluminum wheels. Mbts would look good on that roller. Another awesome improvement done by dp . If he pays he says. Denis from Santa Rosa CA
I got to get down to derby and visit some day seams like a very nice place
Your drone works well in tying in the whole scheme of things.
Man to Man Derby is YOUR SLICE OF HEAVEN and YOU ARE AN ANGEL.
There is a place in England called Derby (although the English pronounce it DAR-bee) whose motto is "Energy, power and strength" and the "The Derby Ram". Fair to say you guys exemplify the same spirit down there in the Ohio Valley. You had "The boys from the black stuff" doing a good job today, always interesting stuff Mike (and MBTS, of course!)
An ariel view at the beginning would have been a nice start of the video. Blue Sky's.
Awesome improvement on the Derby market. Plus, the river 😊
Very nice. Like most of your videos, this one is just simple, down-to-earth happenings, making things better. With all of the "stuff" you got going on, projects like this make you sleep real good. Thanks Mike.
Oh! the smell of hot asphalt... takes me back when I helped my dad lay down with a pull behind spreader and feeling the heat coming off the hopper... Looking great! Ron...
Very cool. I want to visit the derby market someday in my life.
Thank you Mike for explaining how that paving machine works. I'm 58 years old I have seen paving machines I don't know how many times. I really love the drone shots you've been getting 🇺🇸
Sixty some years ago we called that "Nasty-phalt". An old Barber-Greene machine, tar-buggy, a little Raygo Romper roller and some single axle dump trucks... and lots of shovels and lutes and tamps .... ugh!
They did a nice job black topping👍👍🍮🍮
Feel for you as i had my driveway to my house and shop re paved this past fall. Ouch. It hit the wallet hard😮
@17:45 - Mike’s favorite compact track loader.
Now this is a great time of year for the asphalt crews when they can actually look forward to radiant floor heating on a crisp morning. It looks great too. Some of the asphalt road crews down here in NC could use a refresher course. I get sea sick some of the roller coaster repaves . Being 5 hours away from the ocean that's just not funny. I only said SOME. LOL
Looks great, Mike - next time I'm out to Evansville, I'll have to visit Derby :)
Paving job turned turned out nice nice community
Don't know why I enjoy watching this process, but I do.
I used to watch my husband work and would help when I could.Just enjoy watching improvement being made ❤❤
Good morning to you all
Watching this, brings back memories working on a blacktop crew, 40 years ago.
I worked for a paving company for 19 years in south Texas and we would put prime oil down a couple of days before laying the asphalt, This job looks great.
That new concrete and asphalt look awesome! You do great work for your local community
Looks like a good time of year for road paving cause it's much cooler. I've never seen a job that looks hotter. (Except for roofers. That sun is not relenting.)
My uncle retired from Barber-Greene in Aurora, IL that made pavers like that. If I remember correctly they were bought out by Caterpillar.
Congratulations, it is so much nicer now.
welcome to my world....hot asphalt is what i do for a living in northern MN....
Wow gonna look nice! I may have to take a road trip and come check out the town of Derby.
That was SUPER COOL!!! my grandson went wild asking questions of what how why😂😂😂 most I knew an rest?? I fudged an answer for to his satisfaction 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Great job.Thats a very impressive exhaust on that paver, looks like you and arron made it.
Great video thanks Mike and Aron
Them are some great upgrades for the market and the boat dock DP
Hey Mike nice drone shots. The boat dock looks awesome. What a super tarmac machine. Great to watch it in action. Onwards and upwards! Thanks for posting. 🇬🇧👍👍
That just brought back bad memories of when I work for a small contractor that wanted to do everything we did some asphalt mostly private driveways we had no spreader box we had a 40 year old roller that didn't work very well and a probably 25 year old single axle dump truck which used to be my job to drive spreading asphalt by hand is not fun😊
You can tell the time and effort that you put into your videos pay off. Also they have good roller operators by they way the turn behind the paver to keep the asphalt from rolling.
Wow, Mike the community is going to have one very nice boat launch area. Plus for your families market that's going to be super nice as well. It's so good to see a community minded person as yourself. That's an awesome job keep up the great work buddy.
Someone paved over paradise and put up a parking lot🎷🎺🥁🎼🎶🎵
I went back but my city was gone .. my pretty countryside had been paved down the middle .. 😅 sorry couldn't help myself...
Always amazing how many pieces of labor saving, High production equipment, it takes to accomplish a job.
Something different boat ramp and parking lot looking good, nice improvement.just keep doing what your doing,on to the next adventure.great video 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Looking great up there in Derby 👍😎🇺🇸 NY
OUTSTANDING...You make Derby proud of you Mike
Big improvements since july looking really nice Mike.
Thanks for the overhead orientation provided by the drone.
Another good day coming! Enjoy😀😀😀😀
That looks so much better.
It really made me appreciate the skill and dedication that went into this project. So precise
Love that smooth black top, and nice and clean. Neighborhood looking sharp!!🤗🇺🇸
Never ceases to amaze me, how watching something that I have done many times, causes me to experience the odors and smells and sensory of the heat or dust of the wind of the activity, while sitting at my computer. Beautiful job by the paving contractor... glad I ain't footing the bill!
Just love the smell of heated tarmac, best thing there is to clear your sinuses. That crew are true artists, doing tarmac isn't easy especially when you're working on odd shaped grades and spaces. Good way to start the day. 👍
Looks like good depth on the seal there so should last a decent number of years.
Did I hear you correctly? $45 a day to park and launch? Here in Ohio on Lake Erie and Sandusky bay there are quite a few free nice state ramps and even private launch ramps are $10/day. I could launch directly out of millionaire gated marinas for $45. I love your area but I don’t think I’ll be making a trip to fish for that. I love your channel. Really love the abandoned farm. Keep up the good work!
Aaron was probably upset that he couldn't run the roller lol.
Thanks for sharing your videos. Nice to see community improvements. Wishing you and your family the best.
Great video DP, It could be a "How do they do it" video for Discovery Channel. Well done.
. * * * * I've got to say , MACK has to have the best looking nose of any truck out there . Really good to see the good work that you do for the community and the improvements on the Market !
Pretty smart that they use black trucks and black beds. They did an awesome job.
This is different than your normal dirt work Video ,a paved parking lot sure will improve everything all the way around, by keeping the mud and the dust down besides looking much cleaner ,the finished Job looks awesome
Thanks for sharing!!
Seeing Derby improvements is a good start for my day. Starting a two-week period of Jury Duty today 1:00 pm. Yay. I get paid $50 a day plus mileage, so that's a plus. Going to be an interesting two weeks.
A friend of mine had an old Farmall tractor with a belly blade. It was great for keeping his gravel driveway graded. 👍👍
I reckon DP will now get in to paving now lol
I like how you are doing the improvements, little bites when you can.
