The difference between black and grey is you can see it better. The same oils, sweat, dirty, and dust will build up on all MPCs. The solution is to clean them periodically…regardless of the color.
One way to look at it is the black does a better job at letting you know it’s time to clean it.
Just get the X SE if you really want it.

Get a Soft Bristle Large Paint Brush and sweep it. It works for me. Now I sweep everything in my studio with the paint brush.

I use a paintbrush on my gear works well. Also try a can of compressed air from a computer or electronics store for that video ready surface.

Rubberized parts are the bane of the synth industry. Its not just Akai using them. The only real safe and proper way to clean synths is using a good quality anti-static foaming cleaner like Ambersil, which is expensive but it is the best cleaning product for electronics like these.
