It's a beautiful thing that the National Anthem of the Philippines is an anthem that regular people can sing in terms of vocal range - it allows public participation.
@Dhen Arts YEAHH UR RIGHT! You should only put your right hand in your left chest when you see a ph flag.. but if you don't see it, you can just stand up and sing...

@@jetzume Yeah, this also sounds more musical and fluid and it's in F instead of G which I find difficult. The official version sounds too restricted on the ends of each measure and the quality is just meh. In this version, you can hear that the orchestra doesn't do that for certain instruments and also because of the acoustics of the hall which means it's continuous and imo adds a much needed sense of flow and beauty to the composition.
Special thanks to the conductor who gestured the people to sing the Philippine National Anthem. When people sing this with much gusto, i feel like i am proud that I was born a Filipino. I hope that people here in the Philippines will sing our own anthem in the same manner that these people sang, not just putting the palm into the chest and staring at the flag. my late paternal grandmother (dad's mom) taught me how to sing Star Spangled Banner when I was 8 years old because she travelled countless times to the United States for her cancer treatments since my aunt was working as a nurse in St John's Episcopalian Hospital in upstate New York and I can still memorize the lyrics of the national anthem of the U.S. up to this present day
I remember my 97 year old father a veteran of the Commonwealth Philippines singing this Star spangeld father when I requested him to sing it for me. Sometime in 1990 while I was in Toronto, A fiesta a San Pablo City fiesta celebration was held. There I met my friend back in grade one at San Pablo Central school Edgardo Alanguilan. The Lupang Hinirang was first played before O Canada before the event statt. At first we all Filipinos except me not as FilCan sing Lupang hinirang loud and clear with words and music but at tge middle of the hymn I realuzed I was the onky one singing it clearly the rest murmuring evidently no lobger memorized the Lupang Hinirang.
This video shows the contrast of practice between Americans and Filipinos when it comes to their National Anthems. It has often been said that the Star Spangled Banner is a bit difficult to sing and Americans have often heard it sung by a single singer, so not as many members of the audience joined in the singing (considering this was performed in the U.S.). Meanwhile, Filipinos are expected to sing the National Anthem loudly and without flourish, and it is typically arranged for people to join in. Thus, you can hear how loudly members of the audience sang it. Lovely arrangements and performance for both anthems!

Such a sad fact realizing that at school we use to plead our allegiance to our country by singing our national anthem and reciting our patriotic oath but at the later days of life many Filipinos would choose to live in other countries in search of better life. Well, we can't blame them, settling in this country is indeed hard, but it shouldn't mean they or we leave behind our responsibilities to our country and our countrymen.
The best feeling singing our National Anthem in a Foreign Soil....when we represent our Country during one of the Naval Exercises in Malaysia they played our National Anthem and we are in Full Military Uniform with our Flag Patches....makes you teary eye
