The most beautiful one for me was the one I received by my family from back home in New Zealand on camera for my 21st birthday over here in Australia. Every Haka tells a story, I know it may come off as weird to others but this is apart of my culture and identity. I take pride in it, honour it and down right love it.
Looks like they put way too much ugha bugha into the side show leading up to the actual sporting event and nothing into winning the games that they are there to participate in… 😱

Of all the traditional arts that humanity has ever created for thousands of years of anthropological evolution and development, the Haka is one of the most imposing, formidable, and effective creation to have ever been made. The ability to express one's strength and ferocity in such a terrifyingly beautiful way against one's adversaries is phenomenal. To think that this art is still preserved and lives on to the 21st century is amazing. I hope that it can be passed down for generations to come.
That Ice Hockey Haka in the rink at 5:52 with the echo gave me chills it must have been similar to what it would have sounded like when thousands took to the field.
We should have a Haka acceptance for the other teams to present! Each country doing their own war cry in honor and respect! And create a whole new tradtion for Rugbi and Sport! Not just for the sake of it but as a representation of what it is to be human!
+Richard Down it would be nice. The problem is that not all countries have a cultural background in the same way New Zealand has. And some have it in a much bigger proportion. I mean, New Zealand have basically two different ethnic groups: the Maori and the European descendants. The Haka is cultural ritual from the Maori. In their case is easy. But take a country like mine, Brazil, which has hundreds of different native ethnicities, each one with their own roots, culture and traditions, some with great rivalries with others, plus the immigrants from all over the world, literally. If we would do something like that, at some point we would dishonor one tribe to honor other. And not only here. There are countries in Africa with thousands of aboriginal tribes, plus the european descendants. Imagine the problem they would have trying to do something like this? It's complicated, although I think it would be cool...
+Shotgun Zombie I know. I even joke about it with my friends from other countries hahahaha But I must be thankful that in Portuguese, my native language, my name is completely normal :P
Unbelievable, truly addictive, not just pure love and respect immediately felt in not just my flesh but bloodstream for this truly beautiful cultural ritual.
This is taking pride in your nation and people to the extreme. No one else does this. I like this. Savage and dangerous war chanting makes things better. Intimidating your enemies.
This is pretty impressive, but ironically, there are a lot of accounts in history of battles between Romans and various barbarian tribes... in the earlier centuries when the Romans were more disciplined, they would spook their enemy by walking up on them without stopping and in complete silence. But then again, the psychology of combat it not exactly the same as sport.
Mhmm back in the olden days the Maori tribes could be invaded easily so they preformed a "war dance" (Haka, yes it literally means war dance) to scare the invaders off. Aaaah I love Maori culture
There is one huge problem with the Haka, they are all way too short, since it is the only part that really interests me about those matches. So can't you do like 45 minutes of Haka and then 10 minutes of whatever sport and then 45 minutes of Haka? At least it would be a worthy game to watch.

As soon as the field hockey one started against Fiji I was like surely there’s gonna be a reply... there was and it was excellent!
and cooming soon...the team of League of Legends plays haka (?)
Sebs 01 let's do it
Sebs 01 don't fucking disrespect the haka
Children that plays lol should be kept away from the haka.
What a great tradition what you have. It's admirable how you perform your hakas in any sport. I used to think that it was a think only from rugby. I admire you, players from New Zealand. Greetings from Mexico.
Aquiles Bael Moreno the plural of haka is haka. You aren't supposed to add an s to the end. Just thought you should know
hello i'm a kiwi i have witnessed a haka in person before and it was amazing
@@sye7 I've witnessed it in person. Those guys looked like complete fools.
@@toddjones7919 no they do not.

Nice copy and paste
All schools have kapa haka. We have language nests too. Maori culture is our national treasure, we have to look after it.
@@davidgallagher28 I actually wrote this myself. Surprising, isn't it?
For Maori...Yes not not New Zealanders "culture"
The hong kong sevens in the pissing rain was awesome
lets be honest, no one does it like the all blacks
That Ice Hockey Haka in the rink at 5:52 with the echo gave me chills it must have been similar to what it would have sounded like when thousands took to the field.
The Hockey Haka is the most impressive. Keep their balance on ice like that is just amazing to me.
We should have a Haka acceptance for the other teams to present! Each country doing their own war cry in honor and respect! And create a whole new tradtion for Rugbi and Sport! Not just for the sake of it but as a representation of what it is to be human!
+Richard Down naaaah lol
+Richard Down lol what?????
+Fagner Sousa Very well said, and I have to say though, with no disrespect, you have a very unfortunate name good sir. =P
+Shotgun Zombie I know. I even joke about it with my friends from other countries hahahaha But I must be thankful that in Portuguese, my native language, my name is completely normal :P
1:31 I remember that they made a commercial with that haka, when Mexico played against New Zealand, towards the 2014 FIFA World Cup

Un país que respeta las tradiciones ancestrales de sus pueblos originarios es digno de admiración
My fav part of the video was probably looking at the other teams confused faces.
Unbelievable, truly addictive, not just pure love and respect immediately felt in not just my flesh but bloodstream for this truly beautiful cultural ritual.
That three-pointer after the Haka though. Fire. 3:51
Ma'a Nonu doing the forbidden slit throat gesture.
he is pointing somebody
He just had an itch.
I saw it too. First I thought he was doing the "draw breath/ breath life" thingie, but that was clearly not what he meant.
they always do the throat slit for that 1 particular haka.. n they also only use that haka for big games
YOUR MOTHERS MAN nah it was banned in rugby ages ago
This is taking pride in your nation and people to the extreme. No one else does this. I like this. Savage and dangerous war chanting makes things better. Intimidating your enemies.
SappingSpy I think tonga and Samoa do it in rugby union
This is pretty impressive, but ironically, there are a lot of accounts in history of battles between Romans and various barbarian tribes... in the earlier centuries when the Romans were more disciplined, they would spook their enemy by walking up on them without stopping and in complete silence. But then again, the psychology of combat it not exactly the same as sport.
It's done across the South Pacific. The Fijians responded with their own war dance in this video.
The Icelanders do a similar thing. in the football matches. Very vikingish
Mhmm back in the olden days the Maori tribes could be invaded easily so they preformed a "war dance" (Haka, yes it literally means war dance) to scare the invaders off. Aaaah I love Maori culture
Chad kiwis uses intimidation.
It’s SUPER EFFECTIVE
Imagine McCullum, Williamson and Vettori doing this 😅😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love how their Samoan brothers from Fiji also had a wardance!
Polynesian culture
I thought they was really bout to have a full blown war
There is one huge problem with the Haka, they are all way too short, since it is the only part that really interests me about those matches. So can't you do like 45 minutes of Haka and then 10 minutes of whatever sport and then 45 minutes of Haka?
At least it would be a worthy game to watch.
that would be WAY too long
when I read the first part I was sitting here thinking "wtf does their height have to do with anything?".... and then i realized you meant the time was too short.
In that case Barry Howell would be right.
Cringe
There are many hakas that are like 2 hours long, but for sports games, having longer ones are just ‘unpractical’ and whatever yknow?
All the Haka versions I have seen are so full of emotions. All the teams watching are so calm and respectful. I cannot stop watching.
Send those to raid area 51. They can literally replace 800k people.
The way Newzeland has embraced the local culture is ao appreciative.
You mean, the indigenous
the cibi vs haka with the field hockey team was fucking awesome
I like USA basketball team reaction , they are like “okay let’s them with +50 at least”
