The Bushido changed after this from being "code of the waarrior" to being "code of 'citizens'" its meaning shifted to meaning honourable and lawful citizen of Japan.

The meji restoration is so impressive. They did in a few decades what took the western powers centuries

To be fair, they did have the structure of the system handed to them so they could skip all the trials and tests the west had to do to modernize.
