I have 3 cats and have been wanting to crochet them for ages, but never found the right design. This. This is perfect. I'm especially excited, since they range from short hair to long/fluffy, and they have a range of patterns (Black/white, tabby & a Bengal). This is gonna be great :D
Here's a tip for removing the fuzz from a slicker brush. When I was a groomer, I would push the brush forward in the palm of my other hand. The fur woud roll right off, front to back. It works best if you have a rubber surface to do that on, but your hand will do and that you have a brush that has a curve.
As a kid I had a cardigan that my mum knitted & a crocheted blanket - that she heavily fringed on the edges. The fringes she fluffed up & it looked like fur. However after each wash the fringes became more matted. It was such a chore to comb out to fluff up again especially as it lost a little 'fur' after combing. I'd suggest making a sample size blanket & adding yarn fur like this vid. Then washing it after awhile. It may come out perfect enough to make a larger blanket.
I do wonder how this technique holds up over time when compared with creating the piece in any type of 100% natural woolen fibre and using a 23micron merino roving to needle felt shingled fur onto it. This technique creates an almost identical look at a glance, so I suppose it comes down to the staple length of the acrylic fibres. Using merino roving you get about an 80mm staple allowing you to create fur that's 35mm or 70mm in length depending on the shingle technique you use, with very little shedding over its lifetime. I've carded out acyclic yarns when I've needed to blend it with a Shetland or corridale fibre to get the perfect color for small areas of needle felt projects and the staple length of the fibres tends to vary a lot brand to brand. It doesn't felt well either, but that's intentional by design and another topic. So overall I wonder how well this technique holds up to shedding during handling over its lifetime. If the staple is shorter it would shed a fair bit and end up a little patchy since the fibres don't felt togther at all during normal handling. I would wonder if doing this technique, then using a course felting needle to lightly shape the fibres would give it a little more longevity, but being acrylic its intended to be far more resistant to felting so it would be a nightmare to get the fibres to actually do what you wanted. Possible but a pain in rear end to achieve. I'd like to test and compare the two techniques as both are about as time consuming as each other and both create the same end result in look. But what I wonder is how it holds ups over a number of years so wouldn't be something that could easily be tested. This has become a popular technique over the last couple years and its had me curious for a while now as the the pros and cons of this vs needled shingling.
THIS IS SO CUTE!! the fluff, the color, the cuteness and it even reminds me of a persian! (my favorite cat breed) its so cute!!! i dont have felt but i do have yarn, so im watching some yarn plushie tutorials and this is the cutest one so far!
It's so fffllluuufffyyy I'm going to DIE!!! (despicable me quote) amazing work once again I absolutely love your designs I watch you every week and my partner loves the fact you make me happy so thankyou so much
Incredibly CUTE !!!!💖🧡💚💙 Such another level of cuteness, designing, and originality! Your instructions are so really clear, and you made it so interesting to listen/watch them😃 ( some designers are surely as clever both Oh So Boring!!!😝😁) I hope you will continue this way! Can youplease suggest a place where to buy Big safety eyes 18mm and + , at a decent price, in bulk ( what I mean is at least for pakages at more then 10 pairs for a same size). Also, some that have trusty back, because so often the back doesnt fit, the holes are too small or too bigs!!!) . Thank you in advance 😀.
Thanks 💜 for the eyes I buy in bulk (50 pairs at a time) off ebay. I can't recommend one specific place right now because both lots have had their issues. I can tell you that the eyes are CHEAP - for 50 pairs of black, and 50 pairs of the transparent I've paid about $30 in total. At that price it's easy to overlook small issues.
Such an adorable fluffball!!! Kinda reminds me of the legs I fuzzed out for my husband's Chinese earth dragon. I though fuzzed first then lark hitched them on. Imo it looked better. OMG!! IDEA!!! A flamingo wearing fuzzy flamenco dancers pants?!?
this is literally so cute wait what- i want to make one in trans colors now :D. I feel like it may be a pain to make but it'd be so cute 😭 although i need to finish some other projects first, sigh, this is what i get for multitasking lol
I have a question about R3 of front foot, does the text in bold describe R3 which is 6[sc, inc], or is it meant to be a separate row. Like for example is R3 supposed to be sc in pink, inc in purple, sc in pink, inc in purple, sc in pink, inc in purple, then follow sc then inc for the rest of the row?
I looked on ravelry for the pattern. I found it but it linked it the video. Is this pattern written anywhere except in the video? Can you provide a link as to where to get the eyes at?
Hello! I warn you, the dog ears were pretty low effort. R1. Magic ring with 6sc R2. 6[inc] R3. 3[2inc, 2sc] Finish off. Attach strands all over one side, fuzz, attach. Enjoy 🙂
Your reaction at 20:30 is 1000% warranted. These. Are. The Cutest! **muffled scream** I have two questions: 1) If you give one to a child and it gets intensely cuddled, will the floof start to come out? 2) I have curly hair and when I brush it out it looks exactly like that. But when gets rained on, it curls back up. So if you spritz these with water and sort of squeeze the fur, will it get curly? Or just matted?
1) I'm not sure, but it might depend on the intensity of the cuddling? You could tie the two ends of each strand in a knot instead of larks-heading it, that'd give it more staying power. And 2) lol my hair does that too. but curly hair is curly because our follicles are oval, instead of round! It'll depend on the exact type of yarn you are using but I would suspect it would potentially kink a little, but I don't think it would CURL curl.
Hi! The dog has different ears, and a different tail, but otherwise it's the same base. I freehanded two flat triangle pieces, and a small cone. The only other thing to watch for is fur positioning, maybe use a reference image/puppy to help around the mouth :)
That's 100% no. The base of this particular creature is almost embarrassingly ridiculous, and only works because we are adding inches of fluff to it. If you are looking for a cat pattern you don't have to brush, try this one instead :) ruclips.net/video/yhOTDIAmwYQ/видео.html
You could test any other brush you have on hand on a small bundle of yarn, to see if it will work. This may be something you just need a specially tool to do though. Lucky they are pretty cheap!
@@missyscrafts8425 I'd like to try and help. Have you tried counting the number of stitches at the end of each row? That might help us narrow down what's going on. When you add the fur it will cover all sorts of oddities, so if yours is coming out a little different it shouldn't have a huge impact.
Hello! It's probably just the notation catching you, so here is that row in "long" form :): inc, inc, inc, 3sc, inc, sc, inc, sc, inc, sc, 3sc, inc, inc, inc, which should be 27 stitches. Hopw that helps!
watching you fluff the pieces is magic in motion!!

Thats a great tip, thank you! My brush is currently full of owl-eyebrows, I'll give this a go!
yep that is what we do when carding wool is basically roll it backwards on the brush (wool card)

One day you could teach how to make the stegosaurus that you showed is that it is very beautiful
A tip for more fur like aperance is to use a flat iron on the yarn strand before attaching and brushing.
What kind of yarn do you always use? And use for this?? I am in the US so idk if we have the same but I would like to try!!
hi the written pattern on screen for both the front and back legs appear to be identical. do you decrease again after row 3?

R1. Magic ring with 6sc
R2. 6[inc]
R3. 3[2inc, 2sc]
Finish off.
Attach strands all over one side, fuzz, attach.

Yeas and yes a little. It will mat up a little bit over time and need repeated brushing to smooth it out now and then.
