The culmination of nearly 10 years' work and conclusion to Peter Jackson's epic trilogy based on the timeless J.R.R. Tolkien classic, "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" presents the final confrontation between the forces of good and evil fighting for control of the future of Middle-earth. Hobbits Frodo and Sam reach Mordor in their quest to destroy the `one ring', while Aragorn leads the forces of good against Sauron's evil army at the stone city of Minas Tirith.

The Ring only melts when Frodo takes Sam’s hand and chooses him over it. What an absolutely brilliant detail.
never noticed that, ring refused to die until it saw that the last possible owner gave up on it. when it realized that frodo wasnt going to drop to try and save it somehow, it went under with no hope of rescue
Yeah, i noticed that, too. The Ring was channeling every last bit of its magic to make Frodo let go, hoping it would take Frodo with it when it's destroyed. But since Frodo chose Sam and life, it ultimately gave up, and the Ring let itself be destroyed.
That’s called cinematography. Ring would have melted no matter what.
@@NotTheRealBBCIt’s called Symbolism. Of course the ring would have eventually burned up but the symbolism of Frodo grabbing Sam’s hand is a metaphor for Frodo choosing life over the ring as if he let go he would have suffered the same fate as Gollum.

I just love Sauron's realization at 0:24 man... An almighty being, unrivaled by soldiers beyond the count, who threatened the free peoples of Middle Earth into fear and submission, was ultimately destroyed by beings, as he saw it, so inferior that they were unworthy of concern. Sheer movie magic!!
"Don't you let go" greatest quote. Frodo is so tired, He just wants to give up, give in to his temptation of the ring, give up. But Sam pulls him out. This reminds me of Jesus's hand in my life. He has saved me from myself, from temptation, from giving up, and just taking my own life. I love the meaning embedded into Tolkien's work.

Because yes.
The moment the Ring sinks beneath the surface of the lava is great. Especially as the spirit of Sauron immediately starts screaming as the dark magic that kept him in existence is destroyed banishing him from the world forevermore in much the same way his corporeal body was destroyed by said magic when three thousand years earlier Isildur cut the Ring from his finger.
Of course as Sauron died/was banished everything he had built with his power was also destroyed hence why Baradur and the Black Gate crumbled and the orcs and urukhai were yanked back into the earth by the ground beneath them opening. Finally no longer contained by Sauron's power Mount Doom could suddenly vent three thousand years of pent up volcanic fury. Which in the years after would turn Mordor green again given how fertile volcanic ash is.
The only odd thing is that close to the effusing lava Sam and Frodo should have died from both the fumes and the heat.
Also it's a great touch that the ring is only destroyed immediately after Fordo reached out to Sam.
It's like the Devil has suddenly started feeling the pain of being burned, thinking he had control over fire, but now, the fire is consuming him, and it friggin' hurts.

@@seriousnesstv7902 actually Morgoth was the one who corrupted them, and The Hobbit Battle of the Five Armies does have Galadriel reference Morgoth when she banishes Sauron from Dol Guldur. Therefore while we never see him, Morgoth still exists within the movie universe. Sauron was simply commanding the orcs.

He wasn't really destroyed, but Sauron was defeated for good to the point where he can never harm anyone ever again since he's immortal. Eventually, he'll have to join his master Morgoth beyond the Timeless Void, which is a place far beyond the abyss of space, and i'm pretty sure Margoth would not be pleased by his defeat.

The fact that at 1:25 you can see exactly in Gandalf's eyes that he is so proud of frodo and sam for destroying the ring and his joyment when he realized that he completed his task in Miidle Earth after the destruction of Barad-dur and he is finally able now to return to his homeland in Valinor it's just hillarious

Well technically it was the creature Gullom that destroyed the ring when he was fail off the cliff and landed in the lava.
And who carried the ring there? But yes, it had to be Gollum because no being could willingly destroy the ring.
This is confirmed by Tolkein himself, but it was Eru who pushed Gollum into the fire
Wrong. Notice the ring melts only after Frodo chooses to abandon it, and instead choose reaching for Sam's hand. That was the final end for the ring, it's final remaining bearer ultimately choosing to reject it.

Clearly you don’t understand how storytelling works. You can’t skip straight to the final battle in a story. All the stuff you say is “unnecessary” is actually very necessary for the sake of the story.
