  • So what was it like growing up in Hawaii? It was amazing. We experienced such a closeness with immediate and extended family, had fun that was cheap because we didn't know any better, and grew up among other cultures and befriended people from different ethnicities. And while some things in Hawaii have changed, I believe the overall experience of growing up in Hawaii hasn't, even going as far back as my parent's generation. To me, the foundation of growing up in Hawaii has remained the same: family, generosity, and acceptance.
    Although I grew up in the 80s and 90s, I think the things I experienced growing up in Hawaii are relatable to other generations, both pre- and post-generation to my own.
