Bearing install is better if you freeze the bearing to shrink it and heat the carrier to expand that side.

Just replace your bearing puller all-thread & nut with a good quality high tensile steel replacement and you’ll be good to go pulling the new replacement bearings in as well as pulling the old ones out!
Great effort and hope you enjoyed your long sunny drive👍.
Have fun, Steve from Norfolk 😁

I've done this installation many times. I always heat the hub and freeze the bearing, I can then push it in by hand. Make sure you don't damage the stub axle when you are removing the old bearing races, you were really beating on it with that chisel and grinder. Check all the axle nut torques carefully.

Well done. More heat on the arm to begin with, new bearing in the freezer overnight, and a long bar instead of the impact. If heat hasn’t worked for you before now you might not have been going hot enough, propane only isn’t that hot. MAPP or Oxy are hotter and usually more effective as the higher temps mean expansion is more rapid, which works in your favour.

One note, make sure you properly torque the bolts of the half shaft to the trans-axle. Bad things can happen if the bolts walk out... (Ask me how I know). Nice Work on the bearing replacement!

Yes get them all done, a seized bearing can potentially cause a loss of wheel .

If you ever get to do the front bearings your be pleased that they are a walk in the park compared to the rears.

Bearings are not meant to be hammered into place, press in or shrink fit in is the best.

Yes, i thought that was a bit of a mistake as i was doing it. Freezer next time

get yourself a torque wrench , some of the fixings are torque critical, the drive shafts bolts etc.

Hope you torqued that nut to the driveshaft. You wouldn’t want the wheel to come off. 300Nm if I’m not mistaken. I had to buy a bigger torque wrench for that job.
