Princess Nikolina's Royal Ball | A Make-A-Wish Story

- Seven year-old Nikolina had wished to be a Princess in a castle. The coronation of Princess Nikolina took place at Make-A-Wish® Suffolk County, NY’s annual gala which was transformed into her Royal Ball.
Make-A-Wish® grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the United States and its territories, on average, every 35 minutes. We believe that a wish experience can be a game-changer. This one belief guides us. It inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve.

This is the most amazing event I’ve ever seen in my entire life! This was amazing and she looked so beautiful in her dress with her hair and everything done. She was truly a princess!

One time I had the most kind friend in the whole,his name was Colin. We still know each other to this day, we went to daycare together everyday and we went to the same school. So my mom and his mom would take turns driving Colin and me to daycare and school. He was one of my best friends ever. We always play fighted together all the time, and we both had a crush on each other at one point of are lives. But he had a girlfriend in daycare which was the girl that was mean to me 😂. After daycare and when we got into grade 2 or 1 my mom told me that he had cancer at the end of the day. I felt as if I had gotten punched in the stomach, the boy that my best friend and my crush had cancer.. I didn't show it but I was crying in the inside.. I thought he was going to die, and he never came to school that much. I was so upset.. one day we and my mom got him an iPod and his sister one because they had to drive for 3 hours and then when they got to the hostipal had to wait for the treatment for 4 hours. We also bought him a d.s once to. I remember going to his house and he didn't look that well.. we gave him his gift and he opened his first, when we opened it up he was so shocked he didn't know what to do and then he started saying thank you thank you!! I was so happy to see the big smile on his face, his sister opened the gift saying oh my god!!and started jumping up and down. One time I came to his treatment and I was sooo happy the place was so much fun!! There were toys every where and a huge treehouse with a doctor set up the best one I've seen in my life! There was a movie theatre and a place to play video games I was so happy. I remember my mom giving me 5 dollars and I got me and Colin a cookie. By the time we got back he was in the treatment area I walked in and there he was they were needles all over his body everywhere!! I said Colin are you okay and he didn't answer me.. I had to get out and I waited for him. When he came out I gave him the cookie (his favourite kind) but he didn't want it. He just sat on his moms lap with his head on her chest. He didn't play with me in the area after all he did was just sit there. It just made me die a little inside when I looked at him that way..
2 years later he came to school again and I was so happy!! But he was upset and tears were rolling down his face.i asked him what was wrong and he said one of his friend that he made in the cancer area had died I was so upset! He didn't come to school after that day.
He survived cancer it was a miracle. Now I don't get upset and sad because my mom won't buy me the toy I want, I don't get upset because I just had a needle because Colin he had more then 300 in 2 years. Now I look at things like I'm so upset because of this little thing.
Because I saw what Colin went threw and that's something you can get upset about...I use to hate needles and I'm going to get one but now I say that one little needle isn't going to do even damage to your life, I bet Colin is scar'd for life because of that but now he is happy he is over it
Next time you get a needle think of Colin's story
I'm kind of pissed that he didn't get a make a wish
Ps I cried a lot well writing this..those memories haunt me but it's over.

So glad he made it. Congrats! Childhood cancer is tough, but these kids are tougher. I survived myself.
