    Spot on. Who cares about gimmicks when basic ergonomy is hopeless? With headphones, there's 3 main priorities - make sure they only produce sound out of their speakers, make sure they fit well, and make sure they sound good according to the budget. Everything else is just a bonus. I don't care if the best headphones in the world are held down by an anvil, I won't use them because it's an ergonomic nightmare

    • @kaijuchomps4411
      @kaijuchomps4411 Год назад +17

      To be fair I do think they were more concerned with buying the tech for the sake of having a jump-start on developing the 1st Generation Airpods, and also the foundations of the ANC technology found in the Airpod Pro's and Max.
      Nowadays I think we're gonna see less beats products sharing the Apple chips (like here) because I think theyve got all they need to out of that purchase and now it really is just a brand.
      Why beats and not anyone else? I think that just comes down to the fact Beats and Apple already had quite the working relationship, and I think Apple wanted Beats Music as the foundation for what became Apple Music too.

They work extremely seamlessly with an iPhone. Are they as good as my Shure SE 846 in ear monitors? Of course not. But I’m not expecting them to be. **Update** At their current price of 179 they’ve become probably the best bang for your buck for the sound quality given on the market. Dude here and most of his fans in the comments are just Apple haters. They work great with my galaxy And iPhone. These have always been geared towards sport so you don’t need anything heavier than the material used. If you want fancy metal/aluminum then go find that. As far as sound, Dr Dre created it for hard hitting bass and disregarded the mids intentionally. This has always been the headphone and it’s a pretty consistent product. And like I said at the current price of 179 you will NOT find a better option.

    This I probably the worst review I’ve seen on these headphone I’ve seen. I went to an Apple store to buy AirPod max headphones and ended up leaving with these. Why? Because they were lighter on my head, the audio quality isn’t really that much off than the AirPods, many more features, and they fold. Crazy that you said the noise cancellation is better than the XM4/5 and AP Max because they are NOT.
    Out of the 4 the AirPod max and then xm4s have the best noise cancellation and the AP Max have the best transparency mode. They audio quality is fine and even better when you use Spatial Audio through Apple Music. There is plenty of instrument separation and I never turn my volume up above 70% due to the ANC. maybe you’re starting to have hearing problems or something.
    Pointing out the noise the plastic make is very nit-picky. Why even pay attention to that when you’re using them to listen to the audio quality coming from the cans and not the build material that hold it together? The band is metal and they fold which means they’re easy pack and won’t easily break.
    I personally only have an iPhone and Apple Watch so all of the Apple multi connect features don’t matter to me as to most people but the fact that the seamlessly connect to my iPhone is a huge plus. And again, pair that with being an Apple Music User having Spatial Audio and lossless quality music through the app is a huge plus for both wired and wireless respectively.
    This review was more complaining about things you don’t like rather than giving an unbiased review.
    Edit: No idea why your ears are itching either. I’ve been wearing them consistently for almost a year and not once can I say my ears have ever itched.

    I received a pair of Beats Solo 3 a few years back, and I’ll just say that this informative review describes an experience very much like the one I had with the Solo W for 1yr until the ear-cup lining all disintegrated and completely fell off.
    And, although deeply annoyed by the clear push to upgrade by the headache-inducing ear-cups being non replaceable, & despite the rest of the cans still being functional, I would never want to replace the ear-cups for my ears to once again be greeted by such terrible sounding headphones.
    Needless to say, I didn’t upgrade to another pair of Beats. Well, I don’t think anyone really does, even if they purchase another pair. Rather, they continue the experience, and who would purposefully and intentionally do that to themselves?

    I assume they need to be on whenever the 3.5mm is in because they may do some active EQing to make it sound better than it is.
    a sneaky way to make the audio better for cheap.
    $249 is astronomically too expensive for headphones like the beats since you can get earbuds for $20-30 that have a really close Harman target.

      You're correct, but Psychoacoustics (the thing youre referring to with the EQ while powered on) is common in almost every single wireless headphone at this point, especially Apple's Airpods Pro and the like. It isnt nessecarily a bad thing, it just turns out you can skimp a lot on driver development by tuning the signal perfectly enough to get the same effect.

    That frequency response... Holy moly. That's not just the sub-bass. That's a lot of mid-bass as well. That's a lot of bloat. Also, what is with the treble? There's the pinna gain rise which is expected, but then there's a small dip and a near equal rise again? Also, what's with the mids having that sharp dip for no reason? So it's basically for people whose hearing is restricted to like 400Hz and 4KHz instead of the usual 20 to 20k.
    Edit: THEY'RE $350 BUCKS? MOTHERFUCKER. FOR WHAT?

  • @ismaeltorres3219
    @ismaeltorres3219 Год назад +3

    Objectively, these headphones are built like shit and that alone isnt worth its price for me. But i feel like some of the complaints past that are more of a nothingburger, such as:
    1) The controls, It's better than touch controls in my opinion and the playback controls mimic of remote talk cable like you would see on earphones and headphone cables. Yes, it feels like shit pressing it, but that's more of a complaint on its crappy 10-year-old build design instead.
    2) using the 3.5 mm is scientifically, not lossless. All of these active powered headphones are playing around with the digital signal, therefore 99% of them are going to be converting them back to digital first and then processing. Even Apple doesn't bullshit that with their own headphones, as shown in the Apple music lossless help page.
    3) It's tuning is a massive improvement over the bloody mess that was beats pre 2019. It's sub bass boost is not much different compared to the bloated garbage crap that is Sony's, the slight bass boost that is bose, or to mess that is the momentum 4s. Now technicalities, these headphones are mid and you'd be much better off buying some cheaper noise canceling headphones along with something else that would actually sound good for private chambers.
    3) gimmcks like find my are useless if you know how to keep your headphones. Plus apples methods of find my are useless if you don't have an iPhone, as well as most headphones with a find my like feature are just as limited.
    4) I agree that these headphones are hardly "over ear" headphones, but comfort is subjective and you're definitely some people that would find these very very comfortable compared to the overly spacious feeling that other over-ear headphones from their perspective.
    In my opinion, if you bought these headphones, you didn't make the worst purchase. Compared to the competition, the only thing it really lacks is just build quality.

    I got the Solo Pro around the time they got discounted (which wasn't that much time after they released) and it was miles improved from the previous solo lines of both Apple and especially Monster so I thought the Studio would follow but to my suprise, the Solo Pro got discontinued a year or so after its release and we get this thing.
    Maybe it was a cost cutting tactic for Apple since the Solo Pro was actually pretty well built and a noticeable upgrade from its predessor, unlike what we have right here. As far as I remember, the Solo Pro, Powerbeats Pro, Beats Flex, and Beats Studio Buds were the only ones that got decent and favorable reviews from people like MKBHD, UrAvgConsumer, CNET, and even audiophiles like JimsReviewRoom.
    Sad to see Apple take one step back with this one.

    3:21 they're probably using lossless the same way they did when first removing the headphone jack, spinning having to use lightning as a positive because the signal is digital and thus avoids the (miniscule) losses incurred with analogue audio cables
    There is some merit to that, but *only* if the dac on the other end of that signal is at least on par with the one in your phone.
    If it isn't, it's quite a bit worse/more lossy

    I’m confused, are you from a different universe? Only a small amount of your points hold any value at all. You’re plain wrong about the multi-point bluetooth support. Then your complaints about the build quality are mind boggling, even my by now ancient Studio 2 Wireless put anything Sony has ever built to shame in terms of build quality, even after years of intensive use they only needed a pad replacement once which was more than easy enough. Just peel the old ones off and stick some new ones on. My Solo Pro’s which I’ve used extensively show no signs of cracking or worn out earpads, my girlfriend claimed them and so I’ve got a pair of these Studio Pro’s now. Oh and I did try a pair of Sony XM3’s before I bought my Solo Pro’s a few years ago, I was immediately shocked by how extremely poorly they were built. Creaky, fragile, uncomfortable, and not to mention that the sound quality that everyone told me was very good was just utter garbage! And even now, I went to my local Mediamarkt and tried out both the XM4’s and XM5’s and they’re still shockingly bad.
    Then there’s a bit of preference for the optical ear sensors, I never use those on any device (like my Airpods Pro 2 which I love but unfortunately can’t wear that often because my ear canals get itchy after wearing any in-ears for longer than an hour or so), they only get in the way.
    Not to mention that for some reason you still think the Beats sound is “typical” yet it has absolutely no resemblance to how the notorious Beats sound was pre-Apple. If anything, that’s how Sony headphones sound nowadays.
