almost everything about the climax of the first movie mirrors this story. well, except for gwen being replaced by mj, and mj doesnt die. still, right up to where he ends up getting skewered by his own glider.
This was the “turning point” of Mary Jane Watson as a character. She was no longer labeled a party girl at this point. Overtime, Peter began to like MJ and they grew to love each other. This is why I love reading the stories that were out before I was born. The story telling is amazing and it is played out well in the MCU and Spider-Man movies.
I just realised that Spider-Man 1s finale was an homage to this, goblin drops spideys love of of a bridge and then afterwards they have a fight, but goblin dies after he tries to kill spideys with his glider but kills himself, AWESOME!
The raimi trilogy felt more like the Stan/romita era to where its more of a soap opera drama, amazing trilogy feels more like ultimate but the characterization of Peter parker feels like his ditko era self MCU trilogy captured the lighthearted, sitcom feel of the the ditko era.
Because this tragedy as well as the Goblin’s role is one of the main definitive points of Spidey’s life, hence the reason why various versions of it get adapted and pay homage or tribute to.

And I already knew Andrew’s Spidey was using the 616’s origin right from the get-go (both because of the name being “Amazing Spider-Man” and Gwen being the love interest first).

They all mix into this story, Tobey goes to save MJ who was kidnapped by Goblin in a bridge about to let her go, Andrew fights Goblin while Gwen tries to go to safety but eventually falls as he tries to catch her with the web, he does but she dies in the moment as he later discovers Gwen is no longer alive, Tom attacks directly to Goblin giving everything he has just about to kill him in one final blow but later is stopped knowing that it isin't the right thing but as Goblin taunts him, he tries to oversmart him with the glider from the back but Tobey flews it off as the glider stabs and kills Norman and later in the epilouge Andrew goes to Gwen's funeral with Aunt May sad and ashamed of being a reason of her death, it really is all conected perfectly between the three Spider-men adapting this iconic moment.

It's not "outdated" at all. That's just a detracting and superficial way of pointing out its age, a factor which should not be considered an imperfection. That's essentially saying that it's too indicative of its time to be good, which is kooky talk. And how do the amounts of narrations determine whether or not something is "outdated"? That makes no sense. A factor like that doesn't inherently correlate to the time period. Besides, if THAT is "too much narrations," then chances are that you hate reading and thoroughly understanding what's going on in a story.

Also, I think they saved some money on inking and all that by having as much text as possible?, I'm not sure lol, sometimes they even joke about that on the Editor Notes before fight "scenes", which is partly one of the "charms" that got lost haha.

In my marvel universe series after a big battle Green Goblin tries the same thing but just like in the comics Peter avoids it BUT he uses the momentum of his backflip to web Green Goblin and throw him through the floor winning the fight and Norman ends up answering for his crimes as Green Goblin but also the other horrible things he did in Oscorp. Years later Norman manages to make a serum that transforms him into a goblin beast (that looks like a skinnier more gremlin like version of the ultimate design) and uses his new found powers to try destroying Spider-Man and his daughter Spider-Girl multiple times and fails as his sanity declines to the point where he kills Doctor Octopus, Kraven The Hunter, Carnage and Kingpin so he could hold his apex predator status to Spider-Man’s. At some point he would make a new glider (this one being bigger) and during a fight tries to use the glider’s autopilot to kill Spider-Man but he avoids it but while it this time hits Goblin his tough hide saves him from death but he chooses to drop the glider esthetic permanently. He and Spider-Man would have one final battle where he would be killed and Spider-Man would survive but would be permanently crippled and would chose to retire hopping that his daughter could carry on the responsibility of wearing the mask.
Remember, good becomes great, bad becomes worse. Osborn was already a neglectful father towards Harry, and a bit of an egotist (why else would he name his company Oscorp?). The serum took just all of Norman’s worst aspects and magnified them to insanity.
Ya know what I never realised if Spider-Man had the Symbiote at that point in time, Green Goblin would have been screwed. (Even though his own glider killed him but that's besides the point) if Spidey had the black suit at this point in time he would NOT have hesitated to kill the goblin and probably would have felt a lot worse than he already did

I do but unfortunately, the voice actor for Spider-Man just got surgery done and is now in recovery. I'll have to put the Spidey Dubs on hold for now. I'll be switching to be doing Batman Comic Dubs for now. :) I'll still do that comic in the future though.

Yeah she was a bit selfish. Even though she was fun and carefree who loved to party. However she acted like a selfish sassy bitch who act like she didnt care nothing but partying. U know blonde girl shit. Except all of it was just a front to hide her real feelings. She came from a broken abusive family. She the whole party girl act was just a facade to hide her real feelings. So that is why peter said what he said. He didn't know the real her at the time.
To add on to all that, it's why the shot of her closing the door and staying with Peter is super impactful, it was really the first hint of any hidden depth or character development MJ got. Part of the reason Gwen was killed was because most of the people working at Marvel at the time (Minus Stan Lee) preferred MJ overall, so Gerry Conway took the chance to use Gwen's death as a way to help develop MJ as well. Really smart storytelling at a time where that was...pretty rare in comic books.

The reason why it works in the comic and not in the movie is because Peter din't really meant what he said to MJ, and cries when MJ was about to leave, it shows some humanity that Peter has. But in the movie, Peter is just a dick! He doesn't even cry, or even say sorry at that moment, like actually meant what he said acting like has the black suit on or something. Like , thats not the Peter i relate sympathise with. Gavin (the director) has little understanding of the character, and it really shows.

The reason why it works in the comic and not in the movie is because Peter din't really meant what he said to MJ, and cries when MJ was about to leave, it shows some humanity that Peter has.
But in the movie, Peter is just a dick!
He doesn't even cry, or even say sorry at that moment, like actually meant what he said acting like has the black suit on or something.
Like , thats not the Peter i relate sympathise with.
