People nowadays have no idea how much of a big deal this comic was when it came out. It changed comics forever. Back then, you didn’t just kill the love interest you don’t kill Lois lane. It just wasn’t done.

Spider-Man probably should have tried to change the angle at which Gwen hit the water so that she wouldn't bellyflop, which would have been as deadly as hitting solid ground. As long as she survived the impact, he could reel her out of the water with the same webs before she drowned. Instead, he tried to stop her from hitting the water entirely, but at the speed she was falling at the moment the web caught her, the sudden stop used so much force that she might as well have bellyflopped. He should have used more flexible webs that slowly decreased her speed to zero, while also changing her angle, again, before she hit the water.
Oh yes. Totally. He definitely had time to change his webbing to more flexible, thought out a gameplan to not make her hit the water and use his web like a fishing hook in the 10 seconds he had to save her. What on earth was spidey possibly thinking.

Yo the voice actor for Norman sounds just like the voice actor that did his voice in the Amazing Spider-Man 2 game!
Peter's realization and the "romantic idiot"-line afterwards actually give me chills since both were so well acted and because it's some of the pretty few well written pieces of dialogue in this story (the melodramatic, corny style of the time haven't aged very well if you ask me).
It's such a sadistic, douchebag thing to drop when you've just straight up murdered someone's girlfriend. There's a great scene in the not-so-great Sins Past story where that line echoes is Spidey's head as he's losing consciousness, the sheer trauma of Gwen's death and Goblin's gloating washing over him.
Think about it, being in total shock and horror, going "no, no, I saved you" with someone you love dead in your arms, and the unbelievable, twisted motherfucker goes "romantic idiot". I never really bought them trading lines and threats afterwards, it just seems silly and unrealistic. I think it'd be fade to red-black rage and the next thing you know you're standing over a headless, purple and green clad corpse with shards of skull, blood, teeth and brains up to your elbows, screaming profanity and weeping uncontrollably while bystanders are going "gee, I guess he really shouldn't have fucked with that Spider-guy".
I wouldn't ask you, because saying that something "hasn't aged very well" is a detracting and superficial way of pointing out its age, a factor that should not be considered an imperfection under any circumstances. You're essentially saying that it's too indicative of its time to be good, which is kooky talk. There's nothing wrong with being "melodramatic," especially in a heightened comic book reality where anything is possible and the characters have a knack for the theatrical, so who are you to judge what's "silly and unrealistic"? After all, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko themselves gave The Amazing Spider-Man a soap-opera quality (mainly in the continuing storylines to keep readers hooked). If the dialogue was purposefully written to be this way, then how is it a flaw? That doesn't make the dialogue any less well-written. Besides, "them trading lines and threats afterwards" isn't exactly "silly and unrealistic," especially considering that the Green Goblin is a mentally unstable character, so it makes sense that he would taunt his enemy after having murdered his lover in such a way, and Spider-Man is still in shock at having just lost the woman he loves, so it makes sense that he would just completely lose it and threaten the Goblin so aggressively. If you "never really bought" that, you don't understand a) that it's not out of character for the two foes to act like this in this situation, b) human emotions, or c) the context. Anything can be sincere given its context. In other words, this style is what has defined Spider-Man from the very beginning.
Also, it doesn't matter what you think would be more "realistic," because besides what you described not being what ends up happening, that would've been too graphic to show and would've not been to be expected in 1973. What Spider-Man yells at the Green Goblin is enough to get the point across. Besides, even after all that, Spidey can't bring himself to kill the Goblin, so what you think would happen doesn't end up happening either way, so this is a nothing burger.

What's even worse is that she thought he had killed her dad, which was a huge and tragic misunderstanding. Peter distanced himself from her and she moved to England. You know what they say. Whoever's wearing the mask of the Spider can never, ever be happy.

Not going to lie it was a very good choice to mix the new comic of her death and the old one so that would get every perspective

Sins Past is no longer cannon and Gwen never cheated on Peter. Osborn was just hallucinating and did it with a robot from Mysterio. Mysterio is a true hero.

At that height, hitting the water would feel just as bad as hitting concrete. He might have been able to save Gwen if he shot webs at both of her arms. Her shoulders would have been fricked up permanently, but she'd be alive.
@@Crimson.Creates it's easy to talk in hindsight, Peter had seconds to save Gwen, he didn't have time to think, he did what everyone instinctively would do. Unfortunately Gwen could no longer be saved

I’ve always seen the iconic Gwen dying while being caught panel hit I’ve never known the rest of the context. This is way sadder that I felt it would be for some reason, although that may be the great voice acting. The fact that this comic was doing a huge change by killing off a love interest goes to show how amazing the earlier days of Spider-Man were

I see this moment and the Goblin’s apparent death as the end of the classic era of Spider-Man. Think about it, it creates perfect bookends. It starts with an important death of a loved one (Uncle Ben), and it ended with an important death of a loved one (Gwen Stacy).

The ironic thing is, that simply the acceleration and pressure from that high of a point would actually kill the person before they hit the ground. Twice or three times that height, and the person’s body would literally explode before it reaches the ground at all.

So this is awesome right but they forgot to do one thing which I feel is a very important part where he started praising himself as he was pulling Gwen up, that right there is really where this really made this hit, bc not only did he not realize that the way he “saved” her killed her but this was one of the few times he seemed grateful for his powers and was praising himself to where yeah green goblin knocked her off the bridge, but Spider-Man’s negligence or recklessness (don’t know which word fits best tbh) is what killed her, but other than that the voice acting was great, sound effects awesome a very amazing video
I totally get it.
I thought him praising himself was a bit inappropriate for such a serious moment. So I made the decision to cut that out.
The way I saw it is so Spider-Man right deals with a ton of guilt with uncle Ben and his decisions same with his double life and everything so with him praising himself for thinking he saved her made him realizing she was dead because of him makes it all the more sadder ya know? But hey thanks for replying and all these voice over videos are awesome keep up the good work

Yh fr I have read the original amazing spider man comics but that other art style is a remaster more modern version of the comics I think.
During a storyline called "The Clone Conspiracy" Gwen Stacy is cloned, and like any good clone in Spider-Man's Lore, she had every single memory that the original, including the moment of her death. The different art style moments are from that comic alongside the narration of Gwen

I am pretty sure this could've ended way sooner by having spidey not be distracted looking over Gwen's unconscious body is by webbing up green goblin's face then he lundges at him with a web strike so powerful that he loses his balance on the glider for a bit then unintentionally he drops off one of his pumpkin bombs on the air that spidey eventually catches it with his bare hands through a web then he jams both of them into his glider to simply disable it's engine entirely so spidey would then see that goblin has fallen to the grounds below getting humiliatingly defeated upon crashing down from the fall and since his glider is no longer active he pretty much falls unconsciously to the ground it however does not kill him whatsoever so at that moment spidey would then have a chance to get Gwen to a nearest hospital to safety after the effects of the gas that goblin had inflicted upon her not only then he would go on to check if he is still in the bridge in which he still is and Spider man then demand they finished off they're long standing animosity towards each other and during the fight spidey doesn't have to kill him since he managed to save gwen in time at that specific moment but for Peter he'd had no reason to kill him whatsoever so he has to hold back on that since goblin glider is no longer functional goblin cannot use it again to try to kill spider man that'll backfire and kill him instead so yeah that's how I would've imagined amazing spider man #121 could've ended as much sooner than ever without giving spider man a hardest lesson on saving someone more safely than getting them killed unintentionally by him.
I still think it would have been better to have Gwen Stacy as a love interest for Spiderman instead of Mary Jane Watson
I believe that MJ is perfect for him.She support him both as Peter Parker and Spider-man and they built a strong bond that is very very similar to real-world couples.Gwen was his first love and her death changed him deeply, no one can deny this;but MJ and Peter literally have nearly five decades of love story(and two of marriage) ,where they stayed together despite all the hard times.This for me is TRUE LOVE.

I only disagree with your MJ and Gwen. Emma Stone practice embodies Gwen. And Shailene Woodley would have been a perfect MJ if they wouldn't have crammed her into the already overpopulated TASM2, which resulted in her scenes being cut altogether.
