    Brave steps but well worth it to end up with a #Stratos

      #ListerBell handled the UK end in terms of getting the car crated and to the docks. From there it was just a question of finding an agent to handle the USA end for the importation.

    Nice.
    It would be nice to see a comparison of your Lister Bell with one of those originals you mentioned, if possible.

      It would certainly be a great opportunity if anyone out there has an original. I'm confident it would illustrate that Craig and the team at LB Specialist Cars have made serious improvements to the chassis and suspension to enhance the overall handling of the car, a more friendly beast to drive.

      I understand that route, more power, reliability etc. A guy here in the USA has a Lotus Evora motor. Personally I wanted to keep it Italian and the Busso is a fine motor and around about the same power as the originals. Enough for fun.

    Sad to say that I messaged Lister Bell and they told me they will not be selling any kits to the US. They will have a distributor here who will sell complete kits and told me they will cost $250,000 to $300,000. I'm really sad to think that the Stratos kit is something that will never happen. :(

    I wonder how much of a hassle it is at the DMV for such a vehicle in kit form. I’ve been pondering on a hawk base kit for a while now and using GM parts to furnish it (Buick Supercharged 3800 with an F23 transmission or even using a flappy-paddle gearbox with a 4T65EHD automatic). I never cared for the price tag of original or reproduction parts. I just need it to look the way it does without any of the hassle of sourcing Statos-taxed parts.

      Interesting idea for the motor but potentially causing more difficulties in terms of getting it all to fit and work? I guess it depends on the level of engineering you have at hand. I believe both Hawk and LB chassis have various engine mount configurations for the motors they "recommend". I'm not entirely sure any variation would make any difference with the DMV and of course that varies from state to state. Whereabouts are you?

      @@TINKcustoms I am in Florida. I specialize in Pontiac Fieros. I’ve done many a swap with GM drivetrains into that. Having to integrate different engines both GM OBD1 and 2 isn’t too hard. At most, I’d be having to make custom length CV axles as long as the width of the engine and transmission choice would fit within the Stratos Kit’s engine compartment. The interior would be basic, using a digital display.
      The only other issue would be fitting my 6’4” body in 😂

      @albertparente584 Месяц назад +1

      Another option I’d like is to use a Supercharged or Turbo GM Ecotec.
      I purchased an old Lancia Beta for the transplant but I never got around to ordering a kit 😅

      @@albertparente584, sounds like you're more than capable then 🙂You'll definitely need that lowered floor pan for your height. On the subject of custom CV axles, don't know if you have watched any other episodes on the Stratos but we have an issue where the CV bolts are loosening up all the time and Mike at IDR thinks this maybe because they're either too short or too long, not sure which. Do you have any ideas on that?
      These two episodes cover it somewhat:

      Yes indeed. The original Stratos had the #Ferrari #Dino V6 but they are quite difficult to find and of course significantly more expensive than the #Alfa Romeo V6 #Busso motor which is a suitable alternative as an Italian V6.
