Yeah. This video convinced me to get a nice quite PS4 Slim for now. Maybe in a few years, both 4K TVs will be reasonable *and* Sony will have a Pro Slim that's quieter.

Mustafa Sam they have more videos about PC than the pro, it just came out of course they're gonna analyze it, just like the Xbox one s, they made a ton of vids on that.
HellFire by "people" you mean console gamers and let me tell console gamers don't give a shit about specs or heat or power consumption all they want is box that can play their exclusive games at 720p 30fps so they can fight with each others about witch box is better
Rosen Dimitrov It will be better though, because developers need their game to scale well with the hardware. Always optimizing the game for a PS4, a PS4 Pro, a Xbox One, Xbox Scorpio and the PC is a lot work to do. It may be faster to develop a game, that scales well with hardware. It's better for us PC gamers in every way!
Stairwave On a serious note tho developers put sooo much effort and most of the time are underrated. It's indeed not easy when you have to optimize for at least 4 GPU architectures and countless system configurations when compared to something you know everything about like PS4 or Xbox.
Have the pro and put it through it's paces today. The machine is very quiet as expected and the power consumption I could not care less about as in real terms compared to other gadgets in my house ps4 pro is minimal. Really impressed and for what I paid for the machine I see it as a bargain The real difference will be when the game developers show they can use that extra power compared to the Xbox s and ps4 slim It is also the machine of choice for affordable VR in my opinion.
If it is as poorly constructed as the original then those noise levels will get louder and louder after a few months of use due to the a combination of undersized cooler and cheap thermal paste that dries up causing it to overheat. Funny how digitalfoundry never covered these issues.
You seriously have some of the best opinions on analysis! Just bought the Pro on release day today & never owned a PS4 before, but the PS3 Slim. For looks i wodent say its better looking, but on the other hand that dosent matter much. Im very impressed by the practical & smart UI in comparision to PS3's Crossbar interface that went more confusing. Iwas also impressed by the smart implementation of an actual touch pad on the joypad itself, working very well.. Also the way the PS button acts in 2 diffrent ways: When hit quickly, gets out to OS, & when held down longer, shows you the quick menu. Wonderful layout, when im comparing to the PS3 Slim anyways :) Then of course there are caveats, like the annoying sharing functions that Sony wants us to use after update, but thats all untickable for everything if you like. Its lovely to see it have no problems with Anti Aliasing anymore (comparing the PS3 Slim again). As a pc user, i might acually really start to like this console. The PS3, never really came far enough to steal to much of my attention (Apart from the Uncharted game series of course!) Lets just hope there well be enough Exclusives to keep this thing alive & interesting until PS5 arrives!!
Some outlets say that Pro is pretty quiet, so it might be on a unit by unit basis. Plus some are more susceptible to hearing louder pitches then others. It could also be that the system is quieter on 1080p displays.
I had a 1100 model (basically the same as the launch one except with better wifi) and the Pro is WAAAAAY more quiet in games that I tested. Deus Ex is now completely silent, Uncharted 4 aswell, BUT with some of the old models the noise varied from console to console! so be aware of that! maybe there are super loud ones out there!

Yeah, I was curious too and made my own test. With a game in "standby" in the rest-mode the PS4 Pro takes 7,8W. The video is really misleading in regards of rest-mode.

It's impressive to say the least.

Well it will be out just after the PS5, just like with the PS3 super slim after the PS4. I'll buy a slim too though, can't stand the noise of my old 1100
These kinds of videos are so calming to me. Very informative and well presented and put together. Great job, Digital Foundry. I am really glad you guys exist.
Yeah, although in most cases it's barely noticeable, open worlds and massive multiplayer games like GTA V, Battlefield 1 or Witcher is where the real difference is at.
I dont understand the comments on here about the noise. I got my PS4 shortly after launch and my wife got hers about a year or so ago. Both are very quiet. The Pro is the same way, it makes its "start up" noises like any computer and then it's hardly even heard again after that.
@DigitalFoundry there are plenty of videos posted by people claiming the ps4pro is actually quieter then the ps4, complete with video evidence to support it, albeit many amateur level filming. Can you provide some actual comparison or evidence on just how loud this is and if it applies to all games and regular use? Also, not that it's your fault if it's the case, but is it possible you just have a unit with a faulty fan? Since that's what it sounds like from your describing it as being completely inconsistent. Sorry if I'm just not interpreting what you said correctly. I re-watched it and its a bit unclear if you're saying it's worse then the ps4fat or just not as good as ps4slim or that its only sometimes worse...
Still not as bad as the original PS3, first time I heard that at my friends house it sounded like a vacuum cleaning, really I told him to send it back it was that bad lol.
it's not a jet engine, i duno where u hold it at, but mine always in good ventilated place and it usually never is a jet engne, in fact only game which makes it to be a jet engine no matter what from all 150+ games i played on ps4 is NBA 2K17 and it only does so in menus, gameplay is silent.
BambookasTV It's pure open enviroment on an open desk but i sit very close to the console maybe that's the reason but it really gets loud on like every game after couple of hours.
i usually run my ps4 or all day, like 8hrs straight and tbh i dont have a bad word to say.. maybe i am just less sensitive to noise myself. duno, but fans are rarely working on max and temps of it is quite ok. i kind of keep checking it sometimes, how warm it is and only bottom of the console, like 1/4 height is warm and rest of it is cool.. + it's always + 20 in my room
Also i think it's important to mention, that i always keep it standing, I never lay it on the side. My cousin has the 2nd gen ps4 with plastic buttons and he keeps it under the table beside 3 walls and laid back on the side... I remember when i touched it, it was like twice as hot as my ps4 gets. o.o
The pro may be more power efficient than the OG ps4 but it still consumes a lot of power and you will see a difference in your electricity bill. I started noticing that after getting a smart meter.
It doesn't. Only when downloading something. Ordinary rest mode only uses around 3-10W (depends on settings enabled). Mine uses around 4,5W, and I have USB-power turned off (my controllers are charged with an stand-alone charger).
Like they said it's a 399 dollar machine for near and 4K native in some games gaming. Still cheaper than a powerful pc. Affordable and not a bad choice
Eh disagree, you can build a better PC for around the same price. Not trying to be one of those PC elitists but definetely not as great of a deal as the X360/PS3 were on launch.
Here I am to tell you "don't worry" That's all you guys ever inform me about with PlayStation. Come on guys. Be strict! Be firm! Be as harsh as you guys are to Xbox to the PlayStation as well. Anyways nice video, just requesting some (more) fair balanced reviews.
And to clear things up in case people didn't get it the first 30 times.... games don't run native 4k on the pro unless they are older games and indie titles. So don't call it a 4k console when it's not really doing 4k native on all it's titles at least released as of this year.
Really disappointed with the lack of testing on PSVR, and with the lack of testing PSVR games on PS4 Pro. You'd think DF forgot PSVR is on the market...
bmthnumber1 VR is niche right now, but the rest of what you said is complete nonsense. PSVR is selling well, nobody can keep it in stock, it sells out within minutes every time it goes up. Please fanboy for XBOX or PC someplace else.
it could be because Sony is not letting them yet, there could be a date when they can only give info about it and not just DF, all the gaming sites aren't releasing info about it too, just wait until the pro comes out and you'll get a flood of info about it...
Thank you for this video. I've been placing both my launch ps4 and darth vader ps4 into rest mode but had no clue they were consuming massive amounts of power.
It seems like these systems vary from machine to machine. I got a pro a week ago, and it was loud and very hot to the touch. I returned it for a slim neglecting to realize it doesn't have optical out, so I returned that yet again for another pro. The second pro is extremely quiet and merely warm to the touch. This is after playing the same game on all three systems. Infamous, unlocked framerate, high resolution mode where available. The quietest of the bunch was the slim, but the second pro is actually quite silent, and when the fans do come on (in this one game) it doesn't hit the high pitched stage like the first pro did. Glad I swapped it out.
Long term ownership of the Pro is what I'm interested in hearing about. My launch day ps4 was much noiser after the fans and internal vents had been caked with 1.5 years of dust. I generally take it apart and "service" it once per year, which brings the noise down significantly.
Am i the only one who got a quiet og PS4? My launch PS4 doesn't really make much sound. One time it went crazy playing The Division, was pretty load then. But i closed down the game restarted it and it was quiet again.
Bad_Robot I think people are exaggerating it have different standards for loud. ps3 lyricism had a loud fan. ps4 original is no where near that. if you're playing a game and have the volume up even at medium, you're not going to hear the ps4. I really have no idea why people are bitching.
Weirdly mine was almost silent until I played the Planetside 2 beta, where it went mental, and then continued to sound like a jet engine with any demanding game from that point forward. And imo it is loud by any standard, it's very noticably louder than both my XBO and my PC - it's approaching 360 levels of noise, but to me is actually worse because of the pitch of the noise (high) - I wear ear covering headphones and I can still hear it - to be fair I do forget about it but if it catches my attention again I do notice it for quite a while again.
I think it matters on the paste job... Mine was terribly loud but after I changed the thermal paste it is pretty quiet. Idk if the Foxconn workers do it by hand or if it's done by robots but either way if you got a shitty paste job then it's gonna be loud.
Bad_Robot - depends on the ambient temperature. If the temperature around you is like 15-16 C you're gonna have a quiet PS4. If it's like 28-30 C then the PS4 will sound like a leafblower.
Md Ray Ahhh, that might be why. I live in England and don't really play it in the hot summer months. I play it in the Autumn and Winter when it is cold. Even when sitting right beside it i don't really hear it.
LOAKM well i had a launch ps4 i sold because it was turbo jet loud i even changed thermal paste to try to fix it nothing it was very audible in some games and more loud than my high end full tower pc full of fans at load,so if the ps4 pro is that loud then i might get the slim
Squidel AT see you are the type of xbox fan boys who are hurting pro's image. Its not as noisy has a 360 not at all... If you want a 4k silent machine buy a high end gaming pc and become a part of the PC MASTER RACE
Yes DO NOT use rest mode if you can avoid it especially if you have it in a smaller room without great ventilation. That thing throws out sooooo much heat during rest mode it's unreal. I kept wondering why I was getting so hot even though I wasn't gaming on my PC and my TV and PS4 were off and then I felt the back of the PS4.
I don't understand how it is possible for him to hear the fans while playing games I am 24 perfect hearing and when I play games at a normal volume on my tv or on my sound system it would be impossible to hear the sound of the Ps4 fan unless I put my head against it 😳
It's a bit wired that everyone else on youtube said it isn't as loud and I've seen videos and can't even hear the ps4 pro being loud like the original ps4 no where near it haha
yep got that slim, electricity here in my place is just expensive and I just want to play PS4 games. halving the power consumption for me is like doubling the playtime I can get at the same price I pay if I play a game is PS4 Pro for 1 hour.
Ah shit my biggest complaint was how loud the ps4 could get. I was really hoping the pro would fix that. Even though I'm usually playing with headphones it still bothers me every time I don't, and in quiet sections loud fans can be really distracting even with headphones on.
So the PS4 Pro doesn't actually draw much more energy then the original PS4? That's good news actually. The power draw was actually one of my concerns.
I've been playing my PS4 since launch and never once had a problem with the noise. Didn't even know this was an issue. It's a non-issue for me as far as I'm concerned.
Thank you thank you thank you for being honest. So many damn people insist the original is a silent console, it's not, you just need to find games which max it out. The pro sounds frustrating, why not make it just a third of an inch taller and pack in a lot more aluminium to ensure the fan doesn't need to ramp up??? I had to install a duct fan in my already quite open TV cabinet to quiet my original PS4. Sorry, but this is one part Microsoft got right.
I got a PS4 Pro today and i really dont understand all the comments about the noise.Mine is as quiet as my C-Chasis 1200 model. Not the slightest problem with noise
thank you for this analysis and review of the PS4 pro compared to the original PS4 and PS4 slim. Very helpful review as I could not do such tests or research on my budget
I don't know how anyone can hear their consoles, I've got the pro and the original PS4 and I have no dramas with the noise. Don't know whether the people don't play with a headset or don't have a good speaker system or they've got the console strapped to their head but this has never been a problem for me. Few times I've heard the fans blasting for a few seconds when boosting a game but that's it.
SmoothLegend well, that too. The point I'm making is - ps4 pro is totally unnecessary. I rather Sony focus on making their next Playstation instead of this mid-generation upgrade thing-y. Might as well have a pc then
I'm quite satisfied with said power consumption. Got scared by the 310W as many others, but this reivew fills my doubts. Now it's time to choose either for a Pro or to wait for its Slim version.
I really wish sony would give us an official decibel number for the fan. My paranoia means I can never stop worrying, thinking that there might be someone who has a pro that is quieter than mine.
This console is amazing in alot of terms. I think about buying it additional to my high-end gaming pc for the exclusive titles. My last console was a ps3.
I am very happy with my PS4 pro. I'm having a blast with Skyrim and Uncharted 4 at the moment. I'm interested to see how developer will use it in the future. It is way more quiet than the original PS4. No clue what DF has tested. And in rest-mode with no downloads it uses less than 8W. So don't get scared with DF "rest-mode with download"-tests. If the PS4 fans are spinning it is actually "on". True rest-mode is powerwise totally fine.
You would have drawn more power if the test was done at 1080p so the CPU would be more loaded (higher fps) and the GPU would still use 100%. You can try that in any computer. Compare the power draw at 4k and 1080p with the fps unlocked.
some people say their original ps4 is quiet, others say it's loud as a jet, others saiy it was quiet then after a patch is was loud? so I guess they vary depending on the console and having just good luck.
My Pro is dead silent, that i had to check if the fan is really working. great improvement. My old ps4 day 1 .... was a freaking jet engine i couldn't hear the games without turning up the volume. Not sure was Richard is saying about the Pro tested.... maybe different build quality ?
I was really hoping for less noise. The OG ps4 is a leaf blower..
Yeah. This video convinced me to get a nice quite PS4 Slim for now.

kenny sharp hell I took my whole PS4 apart and applied newer better thermal paste and it was still crazy loud, quieter but still very loud.
damn, my og ps4 sounds like a harrier jet
The Infamous lool
I changed the thermal paste on mine and it helped a lot. And I honestly wasn't expecting it to do shit.

DF did more marketing for the pro than the PlayStation channel .
why won't they just say that these videos are sponsored by Sony
Mustafa Sam because they're not, if a RUclips video is sponsored, the youtuber says it in the beginning.
David Francois exactly, they won't say it because all the dick sucking will be in vain

By now you need to open it and clean out the dust and replace the original thermal paste.
NoahThomas29 same with my PS3 backwards compatible!

Lord X Where did you get the slim for 200 euro
Budisgud69 dude it's 265 with a 65 game everywhere In Europe
That seems a bit low in price that's about £175. The cheapest in the UK is about £230
kenny sharp bullshit
MrAnthonyC84 Get the fuck out of here you loser.
wow, never knew my PS4 consume so much power even on 'Rest' mode.
Henry Rahardja could always buy a gutless xbox. no power so no power consumption
considering that a raspberry pi can torrent download stuff for less than 5W power draw, yea that's a lot.
meh, it consumes around the same power as a light bulb in rest mode. Not what I would call terrible and you won't really notice it on your bill.
ElectricMania
my light bulb is 3W
Howard Lam How the fuck do you see in the dark

Sugar Hieroglyph Mine is loud as fuck, especially when playing Uncharted 4
+Sugar Hieroglyph no, but there may be with your ears.
It's less noisy and less heat . I haven't made my fan really kick in yet . Played bf1 and dcuo for hours
Didn't realize my ps4 is using so much on rest mode. Time to unplug that sucker.
why not just shut off?
kyle brod i have shutdown xbone bitch

It literally says in the comparison "Online, Downloading"
They aren't wrong. They just didn't test rest mode while it WASN'T downloading.
The video I was looking for, thank you!
Who are those very disrespectful would dislike such a great, informative video! Nice work, really love it! I always prefer numbers than fancy words.
It's as loud as the launch PS4??? FUuuuuuuuuuuuuuccck.
RarityGamer no he said its quieter
Silo Tilt he also said the pitch is more like the original than the slim
Walther Penne No it does not, not even close
***** All the you need is a decent size heatsink, the larger the quieter. the heatsink + fan is most definitely less than 30 usd for mass produce
Then please explain why every budget cpu cooler is 30 usd or less and can be near silent when confiigured correctly through pwm

Well it will be out just after the PS5, just like with the PS3 super slim after the PS4. I'll buy a slim too though, can't stand the noise of my old 1100
You think they will make a pro slim after the 5? lol can't see it happening, hardly a pro when the 5 is out
Thinking about that maybe not, they'll be too busy making the PS5 Pro then! AHAHAHA
I'm buying a slim though and don't care about the rest 💪
What does "buying games socially" mean?
These kinds of videos are so calming to me. Very informative and well presented and put together. Great job, Digital Foundry. I am really glad you guys exist.
Is an SSD/SSHD test in the works?
Isn't the PS4Pro still using the same northbridge motherboard as the original PS4? Making an SSD just a waste of money
It's using SATA III as opposed to SATA II as far as I know, so there can be speed advantages.
SSD certainly improves load times
Yeah, although in most cases it's barely noticeable, open worlds and massive multiplayer games like GTA V, Battlefield 1 or Witcher is where the real difference is at.
German Lehmann not noticeable cause og ps4 uses SATA II but the pro uses SATA III which greatly improves SSD speeds
This channel needs to be more popular O_O
It now is
@@marlbartony1621 yup
I dont understand the comments on here about the noise. I got my PS4 shortly after launch and my wife got hers about a year or so ago. Both are very quiet. The Pro is the same way, it makes its "start up" noises like any computer and then it's hardly even heard again after that.
It's people just being negative
This was the best noise and power consumption run down I've found. Well done and thanks.
When are we to expect a tear down? really interested to see the heatsink.
Damn that's bad news, original PS4 is a jet engine when you play long soo this could be a deal breaker for me.
73W in rest mode for the vanilla PS4?? Runs to living room to switch off PS4!!!
If not downloading anything (when you can't hear the fans), it takes less than 8W. DF is leading you on a false track in regards of rest-mode.
Play around with the rest mode settings, if you turn off some of them, it will consume less to nothing.
Ah, ok. It's silent 99% of the time, so no worries.
It doesn't. Only when downloading something.
Ordinary rest mode only uses around 3-10W (depends on settings enabled).
Mine uses around 4,5W, and I have USB-power turned off (my controllers are charged with an stand-alone charger).
Daniel Clausen finally a man who knows his shit lol 😁
Like they said it's a 399 dollar machine for near and 4K native in some games gaming. Still cheaper than a powerful pc. Affordable and not a bad choice
Eh disagree, you can build a better PC for around the same price. Not trying to be one of those PC elitists but definetely not as great of a deal as the X360/PS3 were on launch.
All you need is i3 6100 + RX470 on PS4 pro setting and frame rate.
I wish if digital foundary use that budget build and compare it to PS4 pro
To be fair that setup is better than a PS4 Pro.
T00muchF00D What are you even talking about?>_
Are you serious dude?
And to clear things up in case people didn't get it the first 30 times.... games don't run native 4k on the pro unless they are older games and indie titles. So don't call it a 4k console when it's not really doing 4k native on all it's titles at least released as of this year.
I do believe like with the original PS4 and the Xbox 360 that this quiet sound will not last, it will get much louder than the OG PS4 over time.
Many of the games don't have the patch till Thursday
SmoothLegend That's not the point for PSVR. It's been out since Oct 13 and they haven't done a single performance test.
SmoothLegend Also, some PSVR games already have PS4 Pro patches since yesterday. DF is just not on the ball with this.
it could be because Sony is not letting them yet, there could be a date when they can only give info about it and not just DF, all the gaming sites aren't releasing info about it too, just wait until the pro comes out and you'll get a flood of info about it...
dude this is a time to invest in 4K@60Hz camera for your channel.
Thank you! I was waiting for these informations about noise and consumption.
Thank you for this video. I've been placing both my launch ps4 and darth vader ps4 into rest mode but had no clue they were consuming massive amounts of power.
Greg Barclay Can you explain to me what the guy said
InvasionFPS
he showed that the launch ps4 used 73 watts of electricity in rest mode. That's like playing 7 Ps1's all at the same time.
I've just sold my launch Pro for a Slim, I just can't bear the noise any more
It seems like these systems vary from machine to machine.
Operating temperature of 35 is not the internal temp but the environmental temp the pro is in
can you test how fast you can send a ps4 pro to my house?
yeah, the heat worries me sometimes, making me have to move stuff around making sure the rear can pump out as much heat as possible.
Long term ownership of the Pro is what I'm interested in hearing about. My launch day ps4 was much noiser after the fans and internal vents had been caked with 1.5 years of dust. I generally take it apart and "service" it once per year, which brings the noise down significantly.
The power of the PS4 PRO is too much to take. What a machine.
Amazing how efficient the Pro is compared to the original.
Great analysis from DF!
This video helped me understand the powerbill LOL Turned off sleep mode settings very quickly. Thanks!
so its noisy then no buy
DJBV its not noisy
DJBV * for a console
LOAKM
well i had a launch ps4 i sold because it was turbo jet loud i even changed thermal paste to try to fix it nothing it was very audible in some games and more loud than my high end full tower pc full of fans at load,so if the ps4 pro is that loud then i might get the slim
it's as loud as a 360 on spin up and high pitch...
I don't understand how it is possible for him to hear the fans while playing games I am 24 perfect hearing and when I play games at a normal volume on my tv or on my sound system it would be impossible to hear the sound of the Ps4 fan unless I put my head against it 😳
Richard you should include the Patreon Link in every video (Description Box) from now on. Your work deserve more support.
This is exactly what was i looking for. Thanks.
BF1 and PS pro plz
Ah shit my biggest complaint was how loud the ps4 could get. I was really hoping the pro would fix that. Even though I'm usually playing with headphones it still bothers me every time I don't, and in quiet sections loud fans can be really distracting even with headphones on.
I'd rather get the slim.
Then you're a fool.
deez nuts in my country slim is 250 dollars and pro is 500 dollars, which one should I get?
Mehrad Bagheri Get it from another country. The price difference is 100$ usually. It's a nobrainer. Especially if you have a 4K HDR tv.
deez nuts thanks bro
So the PS4 Pro doesn't actually draw much more energy then the original PS4? That's good news actually. The power draw was actually one of my concerns.
Subscribed, Liked and comment of course lol. These kinds of videos help me make better decisions, Thank you, Sir.
PS4 Vs PS4 Pro comparison videos please!
I wouldn't be surprised that Sony prohibited those type of videos in the NDA.
One of my main gripes is that the pro looks like a double decker
I've been playing my PS4 since launch and never once had a problem with the noise. Didn't even know this was an issue. It's a non-issue for me as far as I'm concerned.
Richard Leadbetter in 2020
Thank you thank you thank you for being honest.
Thanks. Was really looking forward to this video. Already got rid of my OG PS4 in anticipation.
Richard, if you don't use the feature where games are kept suspended in Rest Mode, the power consumption is much lower.
mines coming tmrw , cant wait to see it perform. Dishonored 2 looks great.
you need to also remember nvidia doesnt have the hardware that the ps4pro needs to do true low level api instruction set
I don't know how anyone can hear their consoles, I've got the pro and the original PS4 and I have no dramas with the noise. Don't know whether the people don't play with a headset or don't have a good speaker system or they've got the console strapped to their head but this has never been a problem for me. Few times I've heard the fans blasting for a few seconds when boosting a game but that's it.
its just not worth it for better graphics.save your money if you have a slim or normal ps4
This. For me, it's better to wait for PS5, where they can actually integrate real 4K, hopefully
+apiz arsha-veen
I rather PS5 games focus more on incredible graphics than native 4K resolution.
SmoothLegend well, that too. The point I'm making is - ps4 pro is totally unnecessary. I rather Sony focus on making their next Playstation instead of this mid-generation upgrade thing-y. Might as well have a pc then
Not testing rest mode while not doing anything (i.e. Downloading) seems like an oversight.
Great damn video
Rest-mode is best used for downloading digital games/dlc/updates, otherwise turn it off, when it's not actively being used that is.
This console is amazing in alot of terms. I think about buying it additional to my high-end gaming pc for the exclusive titles. My last console was a ps3.
dang was hoping the fan would be quieter. not a deal breaker, but would've been nice.
True rest-mode is powerwise totally fine.
when are u guys going to post the video of playing the ps4 pro on a 1080p tv? I'm waiting on that
Excellent analysis Richard although as of now I am still content with my base PS4
OMG... Rich Leadbetter. now that's a name I've not heard in a long time. a long time...
instant subscribe from me
INCREASED POWER LEVEL?!?! ITS OVER 9000
BF1 & VR!
You would have drawn more power if the test was done at 1080p so the CPU would be more loaded (higher fps) and the GPU would still use 100%.
You can try that in any computer. Compare the power draw at 4k and 1080p with the fps unlocked.
You wore blush today Richard.
some people say their original ps4 is quiet, others say it's loud as a jet, others saiy it was quiet then after a patch is was loud? so I guess they vary depending on the console and having just good luck.
Got a PS4 Pro a few days ago.
It almost makes no sound what so ever. And my old PS4 sounded like an airplane taking off.
It is a freaking jet now i know it
My Pro is dead silent, that i had to check if the fan is really working. great improvement.
My old ps4 day 1 .... was a freaking jet engine i couldn't hear the games without turning up the volume.
Not sure was Richard is saying about the Pro tested.... maybe different build quality ?
