    Creative cooking is always lovely! However, I would make these earlier during the day. Years ago, I used to snack until bedtime, but then tried out how it is to avoid eating after 8pm, and without any extra effort I lost 20Kg, and my sleep is much calmer. So that is my way. Key to amazing sleep is in knowing how to calm your nervous system, cooking the right kind of foods is certainly one way to achieve that.

    You may have an article about this but I'm curious about dates and their high sugar content. I'm trying to limit my sugar intake and these all seem high in sugar, especially with the dates. They all look absolutely delicious. Those chocolate and peanut butter balls would be a great quick snack before bed.

    • @sn480
      @sn480 9 месяцев назад +1

      The sugars in the dates and maple syrup are natural (vs. processed, like white sugar) and therefore have a low glycemic index. That means you won't get a sugar high and then a sugar crash. Also, Sadia mentioned that the carbs help with faster absorption of the tryptophan.

    • @lily5952
      @lily5952 5 месяцев назад +1

      Dates, like other fruit, contain unprocessed sugar. Plant foods like fruit have a fibre matrix that helps decrease the rate at which you absorb the sugars. It's different to table sugar which is absorbed rapidly and causes sugar spikes. Unless your doctor has told you that you cannot eat fruit for some reason, there's no reason to avoid dates or other fruit entirely. Just be sensible about your consumption.

    Aww the golden hot chocolate looks decadent! What about chocolate having caffeine, though? Is it different than coffee (like matcha reacts differently apparently)? Also, what is your opinion on maybe feeling too stuffed to sleep? Any advice on how to manage that?

    • @PickUpLimes
      @PickUpLimes  Год назад +12

      Hey Marie! Great questions 🤓 "Dutch Processed" indicates that the cocoa was treated with a mild alkalizing agent (such as baking soda). This process results in a caffeine content of as low as 0.1%, and up to 2% (depending on the brand), so the amount is really quite negligible. As for feeling too stuffed, it can definitely affect sleep in some people. We always suggest eating until comfortably full, and enjoying main meals at least a couple of hours before bed can help to ensure the food is properly digested before laying down 😊

    Breakfast: coffee, peanut butter on rice cakes, apple.
    Lunch: impossible meat/onion fry on a pita with hummus, a small avocado, and apple juice.
    Dinner: lemon and barley tofu with carrots and mixed greens.
    Desert: coconut cream, PB, banana, maca stevia iced smoothie (tasted like a milk shake)
    Late night snack: another pita with hummus, carbonated water.
    Did I do okay? I feel like I could eat way more greens so I stay full. I notice that if I forget spices or greens I start having cravings for sweets.
    Meat gives me this warm feeling in my legs, like it makes my blood run. I s till feel weak even after eating all of this today- The only close alternative I've found to this is molasses mixed in with beet juice and cinnamon..i am not medically anemic.... Is that nuts?

    here is a quick hot chocolate, when you don't have time. Take one of the chocolate balls you make or two, throw them in a blender, add milk, blend until you don't have any nuts floatin' about and heat on the stove. Any one of the balls, as long as it has chocolate in it, makes for a quick chocolate drink, hot or cold - or I am lazy and it works for me - in a pinch (no pun intended). Love the last scene with the chair and the lights, so wanted to be there, yep, that cozy looking!

    Omg! Just made the cheesecake dip- I’ve spent all week thinking about it- and omg 👀👀👀 added more maple syrup as I have one devil of a sweet tooth! But omg wow! Wow wow wow! You were the first foodie RUclips person I ever made a recipe from (shoutout to the mushroom spinach pasta! My all time favourite even now years after I first made it!)! Thank you for all your lovely videos! And love all the science behind it all ❤️
