If you set up a scratch track, play the drum part you want to here by beating some 🎤 books. Open a new drum track and click the follow box and assign to your scratch track. It’s a fun way to get there.

robert lawton When you are in the auto drummer window, look at the bottom option, to the right of the illustrated drum kit. To the right of the words “kick and snare“ you will see a small box that says “follow“. Click on that, then below it you will need to select your guitar track.

Something that I like to do sometimes is make tiny splits in the middle of the fill. It gives you a lot more variety, especially when making long fills for transitions, since you can adjust an individual fill knob for each part to get a desired and more fitting fill.

50% swing means the 1/8 note is exactly halfway between the 1/4 note. That's why 0 is 50%. To get a triple feel you move the swing to 66%, where the 1.8 will fall 2/3's of the way between the 1/4 notes. (At this point you might as well change you time signature to 6/8). To get a crazy 1 over 5 feel, move it to 80% where the 1/8th will fall 4/5's of the way between the 1/4. Does that make sense? That's why 0 is 50% in swing.

i use the Drummer in Logic.. sometime I use the follow feature.. and asign it to a track like bass or piano that has the feel i want.. so then the drum pattern - especially the kick patterns conform. SOmetimes I will remover the kick and have no kick and then play the kick live on a seperate MIDI track to get more specific.

How important is the original bpm? I cannot make this work. Do have have to have the bpm exact in order for this to work. I laid down a 12 bar at 120 and it sounds like crap no matter what i do. It is just not in time. Also, it does not select a drummer for you. It populates the last drummer you had up. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

Your videos are helping me a lot with the nuts and bolts, especially because your genre (Beatles, rock, folk, blues) is so close to my own. Einstein once said (paraphrase) that only a master can make the complex simple - and you do :) One question: to have the Drummer work off of your rhythm (or other) track do you have to use the FOLLOW function and select the track - and is that different from the GROOVE track?
