It's honestly so refreshing to hear other women my age say they don't desire to climb the corporate ladder. I always felt strangely guilty about wanting to keep my position in patient care versus becoming a supervisor or a director, but this really put it a bit more into perspective for me. I don't love leading others, and I especially do not want to work all hours of the day and be constantly available for the people working under me, lmao
All would be great options and that is the best part about owning a home is that you can always sell should your situation change. Although renting out to someone else is another great option. It’s great that you thought of all this before you even may enter into a situation where you would need to make a decision.
I have a question for both of you, what is the longest period of time that you have been away from each other since you are best friends and sisters? Also, keep the Coke/Pepsi with the podcast
They lived apart during one of their long professional placements at the end of PT school. I'm sure it was at least 8 weeks and Ciera rented a place in another town/city.
I would guess a week, but I'm not entirely sure, it probably would have been during a clinical rotation. During the rotation where I was living in a different city for 9 weeks I still came back on the weekends because that was around the time our grandpa had passed away and I wanted to be with family. Otherwise we had a 6 week clinical rotation where we lived apart, I can't remember how long we went without seeing each other during that one, maybe 2 weeks max. -Ciera
Its coool to see you two talk about PT at you starve in your career, because I def remember having same thoughts ands feelings at that stage in my career
Regarding the recommendation for a book to get into reading: if women in STEM sounds interesting to you, I'd highly recommend Ali Hazelwood "The love hypothesis"😊 This book got me into reading again and since reading it, I go through book by book. But Emily Henry's books are also great! I read Happy Place and Beach Read.
Yes you need to come to the UK! But please don’t just go to London. The UK does not = London. There are so many fantastic cities and other places to visit on our small island.
Enjoyed the video! What's the difference between a skilled nursing facility and inpatient rehab? When I search skilled nursing facilities in Canada, it ends up directing me to long term care homes and usually those are permanent homes rather than a place before returning home?
I’m not sure how it works in Canada, but in the US skilled nursing homes are long term care facilities that typically have therapy services on site. So while there are residents housed there (long term care) they also usually accept people for skilled therapy after a recent hospital stay to maximize their potential and discharge plan may be home, an assisted living facility or staying long term. Inpatient rehab facilities have no permanent residents and typically higher and more intense therapy frequency, discharge plan is usually always to go home
It was super interesting to get a walk-through of what a day in your job looks like, especially the evaluation!

I work as a board-certified music therapist, and it was fascinating to learn about the PT assessment process. Thanks for sharing!
