    I've been using your clear binder trick the last month... it's been life changing. My metallics have been absolutely perfect. No dark halos. Nothing. Just perfection. THANK YOU!

    Keep them coming Gunman, I'm a spray painter myself and work as a paint technician for Axalta Coating Systems South Africa, I just picked up my DV1 spray gun today with the 1,3 plus nozzle setup, I'm looking forward to using it for Standoblue and Hitec waterborne Basecoat

    is that Dv1 really makes life easy to spray silver?
    i just spray a silver bonnet and its really a hassle and hard for me to spray it.coz its really easy to get mottles or uneven..
    really need that dv1.so satisfy to watch your result.

    Completely unrelated to the vid, I have a question gunny. Just opened my first shop to pursue the trade full time, and I'm trying to figure out what style incandescents or what lumen bulbs I should use for proper lighting. LEDs seem too blue accross the output spectrum so I'm at a stand still on shop set up. Any input is appreciated.

    Hi Gunman
    I have a question about metallic mottling... Last week I painted a bonnet/hood of a Mercedes. The color name was 'polar-silber' and was a real pain in the *** to blend because of mottling metallic. I've painted the bonnet two times now and have to do it again.
    I use the devilbiss FLG 5 for base at 1,5 bar. I painted the bonnet flat on the car with the gun at approximately 10-15 cm from the bonnet. Temperature outside the booth is 20 °C and inside around 25-30 °C.
    A partner of mine said I should use a smaller tipsize, 1.2 instead of the FLG's 1.4 mm nozzle. And the air-pressure should be 2.0 bar, minimal. But I don't think that should solve the problem because I think that a 1.2 is too small for painting a large bonnet.
    Do you agree with his statement? For now, I think I will try your trick with adding 599 in my base-coat at a 50:50 mix to prevent it from mottling...
    Just curious about your opinion about this problem?
    Grtz Frank

      I definitely wouldn't use 2 bar, closer to 1 bar. Keep the strokes even, add 599 for last coat, use slow thinner, don't let it go too dry between coats, don't apply too dry either. Next time I do a silver bonnet I'll use my FLG5 and make a video for you.

    Blow drying solvent.wouldnt that solvent pop

    • @alfaivre2990
      @alfaivre2990 5 лет назад

      I've wondered about that as well. I've always been told by my reps not to do that either worried about solvent pop of it creating a skin and the base not fully drying underneath and keeping it soft in the center after bake.
      The only rep I've ever had do it was European and he would do it the first 2 coats and then none after. But it's also with Glasurit which isn't super thick.
