Nice job Gabriel. Too many reviewers of this gun give this gun a poor review because they do not understand concept of HVLP and do not set up thier gun properly. The whole idea of HVLP is transfer efficiency. (Less overspray going into the filters) Thats why these guns work best at very low pressures. Higher VOLUME of air with a lower PRESSURE of air. That is....to atomize the paint with MORE air (bigger air chambers) rather than faster, higher pressures of air. Too many do not understand this concept and try to treat or set up their gun like an RP. This is why we use 3/8 high flow air fittings. The best way to use an hvlp is to set to full open and adjust at the wall. The reason for this is when you adjust at the gun is has the same effect as when you put your thumb over the end of a water hose...you increase the velocity and pressure of the water. Remember, you want MORE air not FASTER higher pressure air. People always ask, "What pressure do you set your gun to?" The answer I give is where ever the sweet spot is. It's a range that is entirely dependent of booth conditions, material being sprayed, etc. With this gun I set it anywhere from 16 to 20 psi on the digital guage depending on those factors.
I’ve had these base/clear guns for like a month now. I love them. Make life easier. They’re actually a little lighter than a GTI but they are weighted different, they feel great but I’m taller lol.
your finish is top quality because your first layer of clear is full wet thus it makes the perfect foundation for the second final one. top job! a real pro!
Great demo. It turned out great! You should work with a paint gun company to make lighter guns for short people lol. But the tips for orange peel and the spray pattern were perfect! Keep up the amazing work!
Keep an eye out for the recent PPS liners they are standard on one half of the seal and really thin one the other half. It's been causing drips onto the panels
Thank you so much.. I wanted that gun wen Devilbiss showed first time, and now after great review from you.. I want it even more 🙈 thank you so much Gabriel!! 🤣😄
The gun is good, color is pretty, but price point makes me just stick with my Sagola 4600 extreme as its lays clear just like a beast. I think the 22 psi is calibrated and different from inlet pressure, but i could be wrong. Glad to see you back Gabe!
You’re right the digital reads a little lower as it’s meant to read pressure at the tip of the gun. I would try the Sagola but they aren’t very well supported here in America. Prefer to get my guns from our vender they get a better rate than just going on eBay or one of the online sellers.
David Creyke Refinishing if you want Sagola, They have support here in US, Len at autobodystore (dot) com. PMP supplies has really good deal on Sagola 4600, use “Sagolasale” as coupon cose
Gabe I bet you can slick a job out with a harbor freight gun lol, you make the gun look good. It's the operator not the gun with you Consistency is key. Keep up the great work and great vids
Great video brother!! I spray for gerber collision in Detroit Michigan we use the iwata ws400-01 clear guns and iwata base guns as well. I may take a job offer at a local dealer here and I’m considering on buying new clear and base guns, gerber supplies us with the iwata and I love them. But I’m short as well same height so I’m nervous about that! My paint rep is saying this gun is amazing, what’s your favorite clear gun out?! I got abunch of sata 4000s but I want a new set up!
I am bias because I sell them. But but but I sell them because they have been so amazing for me in a production shop! Walcom hte base and clear. 1.3 both on my website thats how much I like them! www.motivatedpainters.com
Gabe, the pressure on the internal gauge is actually significantly lower than the true pressure at the bottom of the gun. 22 PSIG on the internal gauge is about 29 PSIG at the bottom of the gun. This fact is even spelled on in the DeVilbiss manual that comes with the gun.
SATAMAN Schmidt I have read your comments before and I have respect for what you say. I have a question for you. In your opinion will a brand new Sata 4000b rp still in the box spray clear as nice as this DV1 clear gun shown in this video? I bought one several years ago and was in an accident and now am ready to use it on a restoration vehicle. I have much to learn though I have done much studying. Thanks, Phillip Hall
@@PhillipHall01 No, but it really doesn't matter. SATA made, in my opinion, two dog guns the 3000 and the 4000. They got their shit back together with the 5000. If you're doing a restoration the truth of the matter is that a super quality spray gun is unimportant as you're going to cut and buff it anyway. The 4000 will certainly do that job well enough so that after cut and buff nobody will be able to tell what gun you used. For professional painters it matters more as they are trying to avoid cut and buff at all cost. On the car and out the door is what's needed to make money. To a pro the ability to match factory peel or lay it down like glass if that's what's needed matters. To somebody doing a restoration anything better than the $12 Harbor Freight gun will normally get the job done. Everybody concerns themselves with the clear which is the less important of the two phases as the clear can always be fixed with sandpaper and compound. The base is where the money shot really is if it's a metallic. The 4000 is more than sufficient to get both halves of your project, base and clear, done.

Yo Gabe!!! What’s the best gun to use for painting industrial trucks with single stage. Keep in mind these are not show trucks so they don’t need to be flawless. I’m just looking for something that shoots single stage nice and heavy? Thanks for all your help.
Hey Gabriel, I saw on here you said you weren't really into the basecoat version of the DV1 but during your review of it you said you liked it. I was wondering if you used it more and just found some stuff you didn't like about it with more use or you just like your Iwata more. I'm looking for a new base gun and I don't know if I want to get a DV1 or a ws/ls 400 Iwata. I'm upgrading from a Satajet 4000.
Yeah it was okay for me the cons outweighed the pros. My current favorite gun hands down is the the base Walcom 1.3 which is why I'm proud to sell it and fully stand behind it! I offer money back guarantee because I believe in it so much! Motivatedpainters.com
Hi Gabriel, first of all, congratulations on such great videos. Question: which gun do you recommend more, the DV1 Clear or SATA 5500 RP for clear. Thanks and regards.
Hi Gabe. Good video as always. What percent are you over reducing the 530? No dieback or pop with added solvent? Are you doing the same with 520 and 550?
Hey Gabe, great video like always. I was wondering if there is a big difference between the base and clear version. I have the base one and I really like the way it lays the clear. Thanks and wish you great hollydays with loved ones.

I was running full fan, full fluid, 24psi with 1.3 tip. Gonna dial the fan in a bit tomorrow and try around 22psi. We spray Glasurit clear at our shop. That EC530 looks like it lays down real nice👌

Gabe can you recommend me a good mid tier/medium budget gun for base coats and one for clears? I've only ever shot with the $16 harbor freight gun and I want a better one that wont break the bank. It would mean a lot!
i just got one like a month ago, i mostly use the c2 cap as i find it covers better, but the c1 cap is supposed to be slower but get a more smooth finish, i would recommend 1.3 as a nice all rounder, if you spray really thin clear i would recommend 1.2 (based on what i use) and if you spray very thick clear i would go for 1.4, 1.3 or 1.4 for acrylic 2k gloss paint or non sanding primers, so if you are handy with the fluid knob go for 1.4 and adjust acordingly :)
