google earth shows the casino itself in Metropolis. further down river, about 5-1/2 miles, near Joppa, there looks to be an older version being pushed by a tug. I believe that is the one Brenton shows in the video. but still, you would think Illinois or the corps of engineers or someone would make them clean that up. the video clearly shows insulation hanging between the studs, Lord knows what other carcinogens have polluted the river....
Your news reports of The Great Bugle Mutiny are funny! So glad we are finally at the time of your visit to the Paducah area. Paducah is such a nice town. The beach you found is a nice one.

I particularly enjoyed this episode since I've lived in the area nearly 50 years. Almost every place you showcased in the video I've visited or spent considerable time in, boated on or hunted. The Paducah flood wall, train and dock are quite familiar. BTW, the boats you refer to a pushboats we call towboats in these parts -- I know, tow is a strange word for them when they actually push the strings. Looking forward to the KY Lake segment.

Ok. The Ohio river in summer pool. Runs between 1.mph and 1.5. Mph. After the fall rains goes up alot 3 to 5 mph. Also below the wallbash. In Indiana and the green river in Kentucky. The flow after fall rains is alot. Loopers should be there by mid October at the latest. Loopers should enter Kentucky lake by oct 1st . Lived half of my 63 yrs plying the Ohio river. In recreational boats. The Ohio river from july 1st to mid October is great. From 1st November to mid june. A very different body of water
awsome vid love the river creusing and just a thought for good river crewsing visit ben and emily they are of the same River blood and he makes great music for crewsing
I'd ask if the last time you came up, was there a record amount of rain during that time. We currently have had a lot of rain up river on the Ohio (I live in 45 min north of Louisville), so more rain, more current downstream.
The grea loop has several ways to go. The most common is the upper Mississippi to the mouth of the Ohio, up the Ohio 50 miles to the Kentucky lakes, then down the Tenn-Tom to Mobile and beyond. It really is a trip of a lifetime worth researching and learning about
They will probably leave the bridge down for a artificial reef or at least until it rust below the water line if the state has anything to do with it. You could probably slip the Crain operator a hundred and a bottle of Jack and he could have lifted you over the wreckage that night .
We think that all the time. I THINK it's because we're usually in the downtown areas, and all the people are in the outskirts where all the box stores are now. Downtowns are struggling everywhere.
I never feel like I have to really. I lock it occasionally and take the controls keys. At the end if the day unfortunately, if the wrong POS comes along and you're not there, they're going to wreck and rip you off.
Glad you enjoyed your visit to Paducah. I Hope you got yourself a treat at kirchoffs bakery. Definitely the back side of a casino sitting in the river before Paducah. (Harrahs) the other side you will find Metropolis, home of Superman. At the time when you got stuck in Smithland only commercial vessels could pass through TN river Mon-Fri because a larger lock is being built.
As far as that floating casino or whatever it was, I think it is a crime that owners are allowed to abandon vessels like that in public waterways. Private vessels are bad enough and I think those owners should be responsible also, but those commercial vessels and barges should not be allowed to be abandoned like that for the public to have to pay to cleanup at some point in the future. While it is leaching who knows what into the river.
Like on the radio? Yeah...it's true, I don't talk on the radio much. I leave it off unless coming up to a lock or bridge. I was thinking about that recently. I do talk to folks in person though.
