Feeling this man’s pain-got COVID in April 2020 and as he describes, I haven’t gotten better since. What you don’t realize when you’re healthy is just how much of your humanity is rooted in what you know you can do. This condition strips you of that humanity. The ability to do. It forces you to redefine yourself with so little to work with. Much love and healing to all those suffering from this and other, related post-infectious conditions.

@@websurfer5772 Thank you so much, this really warms my heart! I’m actually trying to translate my experience into a novel. It’s taking FOREVER given that I can’t do too much at a time, but I’m slowly making progress. Thank you for your encouragement, and for hanging in there all these years. I’m just a rookie and I have a lot to learn, so your encouragement really means a lot. When I think about why I put myself through the torture of writing (and the symptom response it provokes), I think about all the people in the ranks before me. You all have been fighting the good fight for far longer, and while we all have a long way to go, without your efforts and perseverance, we wouldn’t have anything at all. So thank you, my friend, what you’ve written has been very helpful to me tonight!

I got very sick and still am struggling now 2 plus years later. One of the unexpected symptoms for me was that I lost several friends. Since this whole situation is so politically charged, me getting VERY sick did not fit the narrative of some of my friends who wanted to believe the whole thing was a hoax. They distanced themselves from me and eventually stopped talking. That said, Im grateful for the people who have stuck by me

I was exceptionally active before I got covid. Avid hiker, worked a physical job, went cycling a lot. I lifted heavy in my youth then work became my workouts.
1.5g of vitamin C every few hours, a spoonful of B12 powder a day, 40k IU of Vit D, NAC and creatine have all helped me immensely. Stabilizing gut-brain axis and immune health seem to be the trick for me.
Turkey tail mushrooms are an immunomodulator that have been used for thousands of years. They seem to calm down my blood pain storms when they flare up. I've felt exceptionally better taking powdered chaga mushrooms as tea.
I never believed in traditional medicine or vitamins, really, until western medicine failed me. So it's super surprising to me that any of these have worked. The symptoms still suck but I'm way better than I was.
Benadryl for the mast cell activation syndrome and inflammation have been a wonder drug, too. The disrupted sleep kept me from healing. I don't need 30x 50mg a day anymore, but I still need one every now and again.
I hope this helps and I wish you the best in your recovery. Losing my ability to be super active was like taking a piece of my soul.

You need to treat inflammation. I had terrible fatigue, brain fog, memory cognitive issues after covid. I'm Still recuperating. New doctor treated me with I meg solumedrol IV steroid. Within hours of treatment the pressure I felt on top of my head lifted. Several days later I could think clearer my short term memory lapses improving. My fatigue also is much better. I nap once or twice a week once a day. Not every day twice or three times. Why do doctors ignore treating brain inflammation. It is documented on MRI scans. They know it's there but don't treat it. I thank God I finally found a doctor who treated it. Look for doctors who will give corticosteroids to treat long term covid inflammation. This is what causes long covid!

The breaking down in bouts of depression, unable to properly think or comprehend, passing out from driving or from being in a moving car for 10mins. The feeling of not being able to get out of bed, or the late night insomnia when i should be in bed, this illness has stolen so much from me

A coworker got it in 2021 and after recovering kept complaining how he would get winded cleaning out his car or doing simple things and how his brain just felt slow and he would instantly forget things like he left a pizza in the oven for hours because he would forget or would just not be able to remember what day it was for a few minutes and shortly thereafter he had to quit his job (we work in IT) because it just got too difficult mentally and 2 months later he dropped dead. Just didn't wake up. I believe he died of covid and it just took it 8 months to finish him off. I have another coworker who is really struggling 6 months after recovering from a very mild infection, and its his 2nd one, and he is very young. I have long covid too. Since March 2020, and I have not been vaccinated. I wish I didn’t suffer, but I can’t even shower more than 1 to 2 times a week. And I can only talk 1 hour max per day. Short of breath 24/7. I know it’s hard to understand when you’re not in the situation, but this is very real.

I completely understand we fell sick almost on the same day. I was exposed March 2, 2020. It’s been three years of trying to stay positive and being sick almost everyday. Wishing you health and knowledgeable caring doctors ❤
