- Brake fail at The Ridge 7-25-21.
Crash comes up at 4:20, note right foot pumping brake pedal to floor!
2nd lap was fast enough for 2nd in class and 1st in AWD overall even though we were on old tires and low boost/power map.
5th lap had brake failure with no warning, probably due to bad pad choice for extended lapping (we usually do 2-3 but wanted to learn this track a bit more).
With our new tires and the 150-200whp more available, we likely would have won our class (only .7 seconds behind on my 2nd lap of competition) and maybe even the fastest lap overall for the event including the Unlimited class cars that were just 3 seconds faster (but that's just speculating).
Car got beat up a bit but fixable, mainly cosmetic and minor mechanical damage.

Goddamn man this just wasn't your weekend! I had the Viper ACR out there on Friday. Glad you avoided that tree, that part of the track scares me the most. Flying ~130 MPH up that blind hill with obstacles in the run off. I've seen cars get stopped by that sand trap to the right side of where you went off, but I think management at the Ridge might want to consider getting rid of those trees there and adding another deep sand/gravel trap with some banking to it to catch cars going off where you did.
Thx! Tuff weekend. Started out by killing the tranny in Fri practice and swapping it out for a stock one we found in a clapped out car. Fortunately it worked OK but the only got a few laps in on Sun before this crash. Agree, there are several places that the track could/should improve runoff before someone gets hurt or worse. Turns out that I ended up so far off track that it was a neighbor's property lol!
That was a wild ride, glad you kept it wheels down and no fire. Good meeting you!

@@zrmracing3315 I'm hoping yes. I've been to almost all of them over the years with some good and some bad results lol. I have a conflict with Corvette series as they have their finals at Thunderhill same weekend. If I am in contention for championship then I'll be at Corvette race but hard to say after missing 2 races due to kidney issues (noe solved). We'll see how these next 4 Corvette races go and then decide. Superlap finals are the best of the best so would hate to miss that.
Thanks for sharing, I was wondering where it happened as I wasnt out on track with you at the time. Glad to see you and the car are generally ok. I agree on all points of needing some changes from a safety perspective there. Also happy it didnt catch on fire, so easy to do in that grass.

That was my fear after knowing a nice car burned to the ground the day before after setting brush on fire. I grabbed my handheld fire ext after I jumped out.

Why are you adding 4 and 1/2 minutes of nothing before the crash
Right in the description it says to go to 4:20 in video for the crash . The prior laps were included for context and one was class winning lap.

Another car caught fire the day before going off in that tall grass and burned to the ground due to hot exhaust. I didn't want to take that chance and besides, I was miles away from the track by the time I stopped in that farmer's field...
Haulin ass!
