I'm very very happy to find one native English teacher who speaks only English because to progress I know that I have to listen , to speak and to reflect in English. Thank you Miss Catharine , you're perfect❤❤❤❤❤
For "Once in a blue moon" in Italy we have the equivalent "Una volta ogni morte di Papa" that literally means "Once every time a Pope dies". Quite colourful, isn't it?
Hi Katherine. I am curios about why I understant you easily, but it is a little bit hard to understand someone else in London streets. They all speak same pace and accent with you. Your english is clear.
I'm watching now this video to improve my English and relax at the same time , because I have a presentation about ethnic groups in the Uk the following week and I'm so proud and also exited to transmit all I know from this beautiful lady that day of performance . In a word , I appreciate all your efforts dear Katherine , and just seeing you every Friday is a blessing indeed . God bless you ❤😊
I'm happy to have a wonderful English teacher like you, Katharine. You are teaching me really vivid useful Queen's English, which I like the best, thank you 🎉
We don't have this beautiful idiom 'once in a blue moon' in French, Katherine. But we have many others humorous, colorful and popular ones to mean in fact 'almost never' or downright 'never'. You may know some of them such as for example: 'Tous les 36 du mois' (All the 36ths of the month ;-) 'La semaine des quatre jeudis' (The week of the four thursdays ;-) 'à la Saint Glinglin !' (At/On the Saint GlinGlin! ;-) 'Quand les poules auront des dents' (when hens have/grow teeth = when pigs fly/when hell freezes over/when (until the) cows come home) 'Aux calendes grecques' ( At/to/on the Greek calends ;-) Bisous 🌹🙏
You're such a lovely inspiration for those learning English, I know that behind that adorable smile, there's also hard work and commitment, however the best part of it all is that you're pretty much enjoying what you're doing. Keep up the good work and heartfelt thanks..
Katherine, If I hadn't run into one of your interesting videos, I would've missed the chance to enjoy Brittish pronunciation the lovely way you do it. Your personal touch is warm and exceeding. I'm an ESL teacher in Chihuahua, México.
This video is the demonstration that you are a number one in teaching english! I was drawn by the word overkill...I've never heard it before...thanks for everything, Kat!
Last time I commented here you were on 10k now you are on 195k subscribers, still as passionate and charming with fluttering eyelids. My two cents. Natives also say. “Had I studied more, I would have passed the test.”
Supposed to that I couldn't watch your regular Friday video,it doesn't matter I will search it on you tube. If I had recorded your video I wouldn't have been so desperate.... Thank you Kate your passion for teaching spills out from your skin, always 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thank you Katherine for your enthusiasm, positive energy and smile. You teach us English and improve our mood, especially on these dark November evenings 😉🤗😁
An accent typically british. I adore. This remember me the famous british serie on Algerian TV we were watching evry day for about 30 minutes a day didacated to learn english on algrian unique public channel TV called "follow me"
Dear Katharine, watching your lessons is for me like being in England talking to a friend!! I like it sooo much!!!! Your speech is so natural, fluent and clear, you help people like me, i mean not of mother tongue, in keeping the language and improve it!!! Cheers
Hello Katherine, I love your British English essentials. They are very important to learn to use in everyday English. Katherine, Unlike other English accents, British English has the most polite way of speaking with people. I love British English
Excellent idea making a video about time . Dutch students also have difficulties wilst waiting at a bus stop and how to ask when or if there will be a next bus anytime soon , and how to answer that question , according to the schedule , time-table , and due or late .
Hallo katherine l like your Speaking quite good listen your accent also good l am really pay attention in your talk yes Continue whatever you Have teach because I have follow the whole. Great thanks.
Katharine I’m in love with your videos, taking a lot of ideas and daily expression , is really good. Could you make a video with common expression in a doctor consultation or when you go for a sort of surgery? Maybe in the ginecologist or with the anesthesiology? Thanks
Hello, Katharine! 😊 I’m a school student. I’m 16! Really, your videos help me a lot! I wanna sound more British! Definitely, I will! Keep uploading these kinda useful videos! Thanks so much! ❤🎉
Even if you hadn’t come back to London in the middle of the pandemic, you might have met the love of your life somewhere else cause “it’s written in the sky”😁 this is what we believe in our culture Now it’s time to hit the sack as i need to get up at the crack of dawn 😉 Thank you Katharine ❤
Katharine , if you were in my shoes , wouldnt you crop up the question what exactly the difference is between using the 2nd and the 3rd conditional ? ( Is this a correct sentence, btw )
I have been suffering from dengue fever since last week and hence Couldn’t watch it instantly.Anyway, another masterpiece undoubtedly.stay blessed and perform the exquisite practice of teaching ❤❤❤
Thank you so much Katherine! I really like this kind of videos, absolutely useful, I can get the most practical speaking skills in the shortest time 😍❤️
How are you ? A lengthy and quintessential Kat video. A lot to take in , Many thanks . And I also love studying the comments . 2. According to my Dutch / English dictionary Turn down the volume with " the volume control " . Maybe the words " knob " or "adjustable knob " are also correct in this context ? (Correct me if I m wrong )
Studying from dawn to dusk today , I m reading a British Christmas Edition 2023 copy of CountryLiving magazine at the moment , printed in the UK , and I quote " Transformed by a mantle of midwinter snow , the crenellated house becomes an enchanted castle . " Could you possibly explain in a video what a crenellated house is , please ?
You probably got it already but in case, this is basically an image (quite beautiful by the way) that compares these toothed, jagged, irregular shapes of the snow, or the stalactites perhaps on this house that evoke the crenellations/battlements/slots of a fairytale medieval castle. ;-)
Middle english its the bace from modern standard english jefrey chauser "tales of canterbury" was the first manuscript book for middle english anyway i like the lesson
Hello Katharine, your videos really helping me to improve to sound natural , thanks a lot 😊. I would like to ask you a question that , how to respond to the Boss or higher officials instructions in different way instead of saying Noted Sir / acknowledged sir ?
Thanks for this fantastic video could you possibly share kind of converation that people talk in the street as I completely understand when you talk or when I listen to bbc but when it comes to brits people I hardly understand them and IDK what to do?
This is indeed a great point you raise. You may have quite a good level in English and have no particular problem to get educated people speaking a clear and formal English, the one learnt at school and even at university. This sometimes can become a whole different story and a challenge when you listen to people speaking the everyday language in the street, cafés, films or series ... For several reasons: because natives, like with people in every other country (think of your own one...) will naturally tend to speak fast, with connected speech, 'eating words', making contractions and elisions, using slang, committing grammar mistakes, not pronouncing, articulating well etc. etc. And then you have the different accents (In England, it changes from an area to the other and even, you simply move hardly 20 kms and the accent is different!). Of course, you also have the cases and the many situations where people allude and refer to some particular things belonging to their own and sometimes special culture and that you may not be aware of... And you're 'lost' ... All this makes it tricky to understand them. This is normal. How to remedy to this? ... Well, there is no witchcraft or sorcery, you have to get your ears used to it the most possible by listening to as much media sources as possible, listening, listening again and practising even slowing the speed of the speech in the settings and then listening again at normal speed ...and yet, you will still find it sometimes difficult. The graal, obviously, would be a total immersion in the foreign language you learn, meaning listening to it and practising it each passing day. Now, the real ideal would even be to move to that country and speak the targeted language on a daily basis with the natives themselves and for months and years in the hope of becoming... totally fluent one day.
Thanks ma'am you are a real teacher. I am your big fan.you have a beauty in your speech.i am so excited to listen and watching your videos.thank you so much and have a great day. By Prateep Kumar
