      It is intersting to learn English with you, your voice is very standardized, smooth and nice to create my love, passion, ẹnjoynant and interest in English language. I practice listening to English with many Native Teachets from The U.S and The U.K. as Laura in Bỉmingham, Vanessa and Tiffany in The U.S. .... but I love The London voice from you. Thank you very and very much Katherine. Hope you have many videos to teach English more and more. God bless you!

    Hi Katherine, great lesson. I'm Paolo from Italy and I've been an independent learner since 2016,because I love English language and wanted to improve my life. Your tone of voice and your accent are extraordinary, I was hanging on your every word, I didn't miss a comma. Anyway, speaking of confidence one trick that always works for me is the mindset of being grateful for you have and what you can do. It wipes away every negative belief that you have built in your mind. Thanks so much and I see you next Friday.

    Hi Kat , I love your stylish outfit this week.
    I still remember my English teacher in the class room
    teaching us the correct pronunciation of
    Edinburgh.. decades ago , which he did the same like you say now ,
    and we used to make the mistake , more saying " burk " at the end
    of that word , instead of " borough" or " ..buruh". We had to rely on the language teachers more in the past than now, because there was no internet way back in those days , let alone people brought up in the UK in the Netherlands , like yourself .

    I'm introverted person and sometimes i don't want to talk anyone i listen to them but i give short answers i think all introverts agree with me on this point cause if the conversation is not appealing we tend to stay silent. for me with the right person i can have indeed deep conversations but that is pretty hard to find someone like very attentive , i barely have deep talks in my native lang as well i don't like socializing at all i'd rather stay in my mind , nowadays when i talk to my friends in English i feel like so odd cause i couldn't talk to them last week due to my midterms, even just one week made it this different ah gosh i envy extroverts but i love being introverted no matter what! i also want to say that thank you for mentioning about us kath you are so kind and approachable person , you've got this unique aura and it's so attractive i even knew you were introverted before this video cus it's very obvious that you are! the way you speak and express yourself plus creative ideas... thank you once again and i love you have a great day my dear

    I already wrote it once. You have so a beautiful sparkel in your eye. It means, you love to be a teacher. It is your passion.
    Unfortunately, I am surely very introverted. Also my internet teacher, has an half year showed no reaction. First when i wrote, if she want to pay the last 220 € back. Than came the answer. She ask, if i will give up. And yes i gave up and gifted her the money, because I had much forgotten. The first month i hoped, she will made a new time, like a year before, but then I lost the interest. And tried to learn a little Italian, because my youngest daughter lives there now.
    I wish you much success furthermore and a good Chistmas time.
    P.S. I promisse you I will also still lean English, even if I will never come to England again. Probably.

    Could you please make videoes about practical english/verbs in everyday english,?
    things that we do around but we cant find the right word/verb for it
    That comes naturally to a native speaker but Im sure there are hundreds and thousands like me that need to learn that, specially in british english coz there aren’t lots of good and reliable resources for that.

    I wrote a comment practicing some of your tips but it disappeard. ☹The common ground, the same city, Edingburgh. But let me have another try. Shame on giving up. I've been to Edinburgh but it was a long time ago.
    What you say about trapped in your mind is spot on. I understand almost everything you say, but having all these words in my active vocabulary is a completely different thing. Practice, practice and practice, and then it works much easier.
    “We can’t really grow in life unless we take a few risks” reminds me of a quote by Kirkegaard, “To dare is to lose one’s footing momentarily. Not to dare is to lose oneself.”.

    ~~~~ From the ink of your eyes ~~~~
    Since we're never gonna live together
    Since we're crazy, since we're alone
    Since they're such a number
    And even the moral it speaks on their side
    But still - to tell you - I would like
    That all I could express and write
    I have drawn it... from the ink of your eyes
    I never saw that you were wearing chains
    Wishing too much to gaze at thee
    I forgot my own ones
    We were dreaming of Venice and of wild
    But - to tell you - I still would like
    That all I was able to write
    Was just wholly dictated by your smile
    You will come long time wander in my dreams
    You will always come from the side,...
    From where the sun rises
    And if despite that, I manage to forget
    I still would like - to you - confide
    That everything that I could write
    Will be long having the scent of regrets
    But since we'll both never live together
    Since we're crazy, since we're alone
    Since they're such a number
    And even the moral it speaks on their side
    But still - to tell you - I would like
    That all I could express and write
    I have drawn it... from the ink of your eyes.
    In my opinion, fillers (um, erm, hmmm, yea, etc.) are helpful only in private everyday conversation to fill the possible silent gaps, but they are problematic when used by TV presenters, radio presenters, and journalists because in these cases the absence of fillers (the silent gaps) can conversely be helpful to better understand the important information conveyed.
    • @englishwithkatharine
      @englishwithkatharine  Год назад
      Ah I don’t agree. I hate that technique as it is designed to put pressure on whoever is being interviewed! 😄
    • @GM-o6i
      @GM-o6i Год назад
      @@englishwithkatharine Indeed, when someone is being interviewed, the silent gaps in the journalist's questions can put some pressure on the respondent. But it seems to me that when the journalist is just conveying the information about an event (without interviewing someone at that moment), the short silent gaps would be helpful for the listeners.
