I should say that my favourite bit would be what Victor chose because I have a master's in astrophysics ... But actually I'd find the wall showing the history of their cameras more interesting seeing how things have changed over the years including, I assume, the migration from film to digital cameras. Photography is something I'm quite interested in but not very good at, when your eyes are normally out of focus it's quite hard to take a good picture.
Great video ... And somewhere to go look up next time I'm in Tokyo.

Hey Norm and Victor, I think the best part is how the pin came in a black and gold box that matches the camera box itself. It made me happy and chuckled a bit at the attention to detail.

I was in that museum last November and I loved it. My favourite part was one of the documentary films about the R&D that went into the cameras used in the arctic by Naomi Uemara, a solo explorer. Nikon built a titanium body camera with a host of mods to make the camera work in the harsh conditions, even going so far as to build a test lab capable of temperatures of -50 degrees C. Before using Nikons, Uemara had had his camera literally fall apart soon after starting his trip using a dog sled. He was surprised to see the journalists all using cameras in the cold weather when he was met at the end of his trip and he asked them what they were using (Nikons as it turns out). He then decided to approach Nikon.
The other thing about this museum that blew me away was the number of lenses, including wide angle lenses the size of a dinner plate and extremely long telephoto lenses that you showed in your video. Many lenses were prototypes that never made it to production although sadly, many prototypes were destroyed. I spent about three hours here and I feel that I just scratched the surface. I wrote a longer review in Reddit that you can find here: www.reddit.com/r/Nikon/comments/a7yi0i/nikon_museum_in_tokyo/
For what it is worth there is also the Tokyo Museum of Photography in Yebisu, next to the Yebisu Beer Museum that is well worth a visit. They have really interesting exhibits, usually of contemporary artists.

My favorite thing is that when you are in a museum, you can always find something to relate to, no matter how old the gallery is. For example, the gold 1984 Nikon camera. I think if you had done this live, every one would have been asking you to show them their "birth year camera" Haha ^^ I'm starting to collect pins, and I love camera's so this give away is fantastic! Thanks guys, and good luck to all!

Also the FE2 is good to check out, I kind of preferred the metering setup on those, but they're otherwise mostly similar. Also I think they kept making the FM2 a lot longer, though.

That is a cool museum! I really liked the cameras of different era that were on display on the wall. It's interesting to see how the cameras looked as time went on. You can see how the design changed and it kind of gives you an idea of what Nikon thought their customers wanted in their cameras. The aerospace display was great as well. Thanks for taking us along for the tour!

Mike Peters no it’s completely free - although in a very nice NIKON hq building so maybe don’t walk around beach casual in your swim trunks and flipflops. Cuz it’s a place of work for many heh

That giant silica piece was cool. Norm was probably thinking if I ground this up, it would adequately protect my Shamisen from moisture!

The camera timeline would be incredibly interesting to see as it shows how far nikon has come with their technology. I would love to visit the museum when I visit Tokyo someday (:

omg I love it! all I know is I want to go there. I myself am a huge camera nerd and I currently have the Nikon D850 and im actually looking at getting a D5 (the biggest of them all as norm had pointed out) so I feel even walking into a normal camera store has a amazing feeling of excitement I cant even imagine going here it would be like a dream anyway thank you guys for such a cool video I really enjoyed it.
PS: in new Zealand we actually pronounce it differently again to what you guys say, we pronounce it "NI" as in Nick and then kon so its kinda like saying nick-on. as compared to the "ne-kon" sound that many other people pronounce it as.

Wow, I want to go there! 😃 My favorite part was hearing it's actually pronounced Ni-kon, and I can't believe I didn't realize that between my Japanese and photography classes! 😂 I never knew this museum existed, but now it's on my go-to list for the future! 😄 Thanks for bringing us along!

I would have spent more time looking at the camera wall and reading more about the glass used for the lenses too. Amazing that there is a museum dedicated to cameras. Japan is filled with really interesting things.

It looks like a very interesting place and it was cool seeing all the different lens and cameras. I never thought about who makes the lens that are used in space. That Synthetic Silica Glass Ingot look awesome and it is nice when you can touch the exhibits.
That gold camera is awesome :)

My fave part was when you didn't go back to show us what those lenses were looking at, lol.
I also pronounce it the way that you both agreed to. Can't speak for all Aussies, but I'm pretty sure most of us do.
