Islam Makhachev (born 27 October 1991) is a Russian professional mixed martial artist and former sambo competitor. He currently competes in the Lightweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is the current UFC Lightweight Champion.[8] Makhachev has competed professionally since 2010, along with becoming a combat sambo world champion in 2016 and two-time Russian national champion at 74 kg (2014, 2016). As of 7 November 2023, he is #1 in the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings.
Dustin Poirier (born January 19, 1989) is an American professional mixed martial artist. He currently competes in the Lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is a former Interim UFC Lightweight Champion. As of August 1, 2023, he is #3 in the UFC lightweight rankings.

@@LETSGODYDYNA Na they don’t do anything different than the rest of the fight world. They get tested like the rest of them. And yeah Jon Jones definitely a cheater, he was actually caught. It’s not steroids, it’s something that Americans have never experienced (I’m American), Khabib and Islam NEVER drink alcohol and they lived in a Spartan style training camp their entire childhoods, living for their training. American have regular childhoods then join a gym around 12-18 and still don’t obsess over their training around the clock like some of these Russians did. That’s why they’re ahead, I think. Kinda like how Americans are ahead in basketball, it’s something that happens in a culture. It’s a cultural phenomenon, hotbeds of talent that breeds more talent. The Dagestan mountains breed MMA fighters just like inner city American parks breed basketball stars

They are training right now in New Jersey, not Abu Dhabi. Fail.
The difference is that Islam trains with his real childhood friends, they are his family, they give him hard time and are actually honest with him. They're rooting for him on a personal level, it's not just a career point. That bond they have has nothing to do with money, no amount of money can buy it. Dustin has a team of polite paid coaches. This is the difference between their levels and the results. Dustin's coach praises him, while Khabib tells his team that if they are tired, they can go home and cry there. Islam has been training for 20 years at a level Dustin has never been at. It's modern versus ancient, good enough versus extraordinary, Western approach versus Spartan approach. That's why one is the champion and the other is the contender, one will win and the other will lose.
Of course we all should believe Islam will take Dustin down. But I want to see Islam stand with Dustin just like he did against volk

Well as odd as that sounds, it's not impossible.
He didn’t ask for em, it’s who was available because Islam wants to fight at least 3 times this year. Gatche was supposed to fight em but he lost that chance now after Holloway so it had to be the winner of Arman vs Do Bronx. So prob will fight Arman next. Anyways Dustin is nice but he’s getting sub round 3 probably same like Khabib bro will get over whelmed by the wrestling and I can see Islam baiting Dustin by giving his neck and have em thinking he’s got the Gilly and then take his neck after tiring out Dustin’s arms. I’m def hammering Islam by sub round 2 and 3! Round 3 sub for Islam is +1300 which is crazy!

Poirier will need to be mentally focused and ready for anything and everything and I'm talking about the swift quickness, technique and skill of Islam's takedowns. If Poirier is not prepared for it, he's done. A knock out is not the objective for Islam, it's about dominance over his opponent's skill set.
