Sorry for the long post. However, I have to tell you I can not thank you enough for this video. I am an absolute adult beginner. After trying for a very long time not to fall out of a single pirouette, I was about to give up. :( I figured if one didn't take classes when young this just wasn't going to happen. Recently pirouettes have become major focus of my dance classes and I was feeling pretty down on myself. Over the past year I've watched about a hundred RUclips videos on turns and none really helped. I didn't know if the problem was my strength, technical mechanics, age or everything. I couldn't fix the problem when I didn't know what was wrong. I felt I was just creating bad muscle memory by doing it over and over and falling out or not even getting fully around each time. My joy for dance class was rapidly fading. This part of class was stressing me out putting me in a very negative mindset. Then I watched your video, where you really emphasized getting the weight on the front leg. Most teachers say the weight should be even or only slightly forward. Well, I took your advice and tried it with a focus on the front leg. It was like a miracle. I actually did a pirouette and didn't fall out of it and was able to end in a passe. I swear I almost cried I was so happy. Of course I am still a major work progress with turns and ballet but you, Abby, have given me back the joy, hope and the courage to continue to dance as an older adult. Thank you so much . ♥♥♥

Thank you for this comment!! Wow! It means a lot to know we are making a difference for people. I am so glad what I explained helped everything "click" for you! I know it can be frustrating when it's not working like we want it to. Hope everything is continuing to go well!

Wonderful video, love how you break down the steps so clearly Abby. I found it particularly useful to understand when we actually need to lengthen the arms- I've had several adult ballet teachers say to put the arms in second before turning but before this video have never figured out how to coordinate the movements properly!

What exercises do we have to do to make legs stronger ....I feel too woobly while I do a pirouette...I don't feel confident. It's too tough...but I am trying hard.. and thank you so much for the video it is very helpful 💖💖

Hey Abby, thanks for the video. FYI, your ponytail caused a lot of microphone static. Not trying to be negative, but I wanted to make that suggestion as I really enjoy your videos. Thanks

Okay, I just have to ask why you are doing this on a rubber mat when you have this flawless wood floor underneath
