5:20 This isn't as crazy as you might think! In the PS1 games, if a TNT was counting down and you got too far away, it would be "deleted" with the explosion sound, rather than actually explode. This means that it wouldn't destroy any adjacent crates, since it wasn't *actually* exploding! Same thing with the Nitro Switches, so they changed it for the N-Sane Trilogy!
I remember that screwed me over in the ps1 version of Crash 1 in Rolling Stones- I lost out on the gem because I thought the TNT crates had exploded together, but only the one that I set off before walking away did
Hah, I could've sworn that was what it did back on the PS1 (as I was missing crates, and it made sense technically), but then N. Sane Trilogy made me wonder if I'd just been paranoid or imagining it, as it was clearly counting adjacent crates there. It's a nice little QoL improvement, I'd say.
I might be wrong but I remember that crates next to nitros were also destroyed when you used the nitro switch on the PS1 games. Or probably this was on The Wrath of Cortex, don't remember right now.
nicolashan1997 they do if they're onscreen while exploding, but if they are quite a way offscreen there's a chance that just the nitro box is broken and not any adjacent regular boxes
Gotta love the energy you bring to the low poly birds sections, it's like a celebration each time. Also really great to hear the unique fun you're having for ads and small little moments like Crash's back pocket, which... I didn't even know he has any, let alone just one.
I just love how you can tell he is having so much fun commentating this video, I live creators that just enjoy themselves rather than try to be so serious they can't have a little fun.
10:05 Yeah, that's almost definitely it. They would have kept a copy of each pre-fab rock formation off to the side, and then cloned them and dropped those copies into the level as needed. I do that kind of thing all the time with 3D models (just hobby stuff, though- no professional game dev or anything). The unusual thing here, though, is the sheer volume of unused geometry. Most devs clean this stuff up before the game ships, and only a few objects get missed here and there.
If you do Crash 3 someday, please show what's behind the door on Orient Express (or any Pura level). It's probably nothing, but would be cool anyway! Thanks!
just to add to this: sometimes you're just subscribed to somebody and just vibe with their content, you don't think about how long they've been part of your regular schedule and basically time is weird
Thank you for yet another wonderful production! I wish your channel was around back when I was tearing my hair out learning modeling techniques, especially optimization “cheats” and memory management by balancing texture and geometry details. You are providing a valuable service.
Thanks for answering my request about the polar bear. I barely, no pun intended, remembered how the stage worked so that's why it was worded a bit weird. I'm glad you understood what I was asking though. Very much appreciated.
I don't know if this is the first video made with this person's voice but it's the first one I'm watching. He's super fun. Laughing at his own jokes 😂😂😂
Hey; episode two, sweet!! I remember watching episode 1 when it first came out, and I also remember borrowing the camera tools you borrowed for these two videos to make me awesome HD animated profile pics of Crash's idle animations. You have my eternal gratitude for that!
8:00 You're definitely reading too much into it. That's probably Opossum, which do have sharp teeth. Funny enough, Aussie possums actually have rodent-like buck teeth.

i would not be suprised if the fur texture is actually a texture modification that can be applyed to any texture and it was just acidently applyed to the mouth
Man Snipes you are absolutely killing this. Your doing a good job man. You are absolutely hilarious and great for the show. I'm really glad you are apart of it. rather surprised when these videos dont cover more questionable things like how big is the final boss scene with chasing Cortex. i expected that to come up as a point of interest when covering the boss rooms.
Indeed they are. Something I find mildly comical: someone asked 4 years ago if Shesez could do a zoom out of a jetpack level and Shesez replyed "sure thing!"...I do not think it happened or maybe I am just dumb.
I'm SO stoked to finally see some Crash Bandicoot love on here!! Can you do Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled next? There's an amazing hidden track in the DINGO CANYON level with crazy detail that the viewer wasn't meant to see.
As a lover of opossums, I can confirm that they don't really have "front" teeth, as they don't tend to chew food near the front of their mouths. What "front" teeth they do have are spread wide apart.
i probably don't need to suggest this because people can break out of bounds playing casually in this game, but maybe have a boundary break episode on pokemon scarlet and violet. i mean who knows, there may be some different things hidden in the games.
Some 3d editors that have fur texture simulations have tend to put fur everywhere, they probably forgot to remove the yeti's fur because it's kinda hidden.
watching this now, a year late. if i had to guess what the stock textured cylinders are for, both in the crash 1 levels, and crash 2(which is why the idea came to me). is that they are a visual for the teleport area at the beginning and end of the stage, but offset from where the actual teleport is. this could have been so that the devs didnt "lose" the teleport, when they were building the stage. would also likely exist in crash 1 because the code for the start and end is a part of that object, and itd just be easier to use them for that everywhere. just offsetting the visible model under the stage.
10:44 there's an interesting look that Cold Hard Crash's Bonus platform actually ended on the later part of the stage. Wether it's intentional or not is up to debate. But imagine if they did return you into later part of the stage as if Cold Hard Crash isn't pain on the first place
I don't think the hand moving with the jetpack is one keyframe... wouldn't his hand and arm move to the new position in the straightest path possible if it was a single keyframe?
3:28 or maybe they pull in different platforms for the different gems you can collect which probably meshes better with the requirements suited rather than just replacing the individual gems I mean if you think about it every gem has a different objective to unlock it so maybe it’s easier to code that preset in with an extra pedestal Just a thought
I haven't had the chance to watch this channel in awhile, but I've always enjoyed Shesez's videos! The Crash series is also a big favorite of mine, so it was a real treat to see this in my feed. I think the new guy did a great job at sharing his insight and presenting the info in a way that feels both personable / entertaining!
Possible that some of those cylinders act as scale reference? It suppose to be cube or character, but maybe it is used as "select everything in this level, and let scale it till cylinder have 1 meter height". Other option might be easier - cylinder is to just point out where will be begging of level in 3D space. They prepared set of levels on single map and then split them. Place cylinder from tab, would spawn it in point 0 0 0 so move level geometry and align it, would be easy task
When you do crash 3 please show us the cortexminion factory in the secret warp room Whats behind the door in orient express and midnight run? In the first few cutscene, when ntropy is a shadow, is he fully modeled as a shadow or does he pop in when needed? Airial view of the warp room? In area 51, are all ufos loaded in at the start of the race? Whats on cocos laptop in cutscenes? Jk Are all the crystals in dingodile fight pre loaded or loaded in as needed? Can we see the other side of the tiny arena?
I wonder if the no front teeth thing was because they mirrored the model and having no front teeth was because they felt it didn't need it could be wrong though.

I see, so Crash isn't storing the gems inside his butt, he is storing them inside a cartoonist tiny pocket.
Hopefully we won’t have to wait another 4 years for crash 3
I actually assume that Crash's pocket is where he pulls out the Crystals and Gems, since it's on the same side that he reaches towards.
