**PLEASE READ** Hey! Just wanted to clarify something really quickly. My apologies for not sharing my reaction to both the Maddy and Nate scene, and the Nate and Jules scene. When I record these I am watching the episode for the first time and sometimes will miss a great scene to react to because I’m engaged and processing it internally. I will work on that! I will be going over what I think about these two scenes in the beginning of the next episode because after processing I do have a lot to say! This episode was a very emotional one for me. How did you feel about it? ❤ Thank you for all your kind comments on last weeks video. I hope by helping you understand these characters a bit more, I can help you understand yourselves and the people in your life. I am SO glad that you exist.
@@sharonmariewhitehead8352 Thank you for wanting my thoughts! I realize I didn't react to this part. I was pretty overwhelmed by it and do a full live reaction so I didn't have time to process. I do have a lot of thoughts about it though!
@@the.truth.doctor amazing analysis, i agree with everything said except for Cassie consoling Maddy. She was consoling and telling her to not see Nate for her own benefit not because she cared about Maddie. She is pretty manipulative especially considering last episode when she flipped everything back on Rue and called her a liar.
I just finished binge watching all of your videos on euphoria season 2 and I can just say I am so grateful for you creating such great content. I have a therapy appointment tomorrow and I feel like euphoria and especially your reactions have made me realize so much about myself and my own actions that I will be able to work on and discuss with my therapist. So thank you. Also at the end when you talked about having the ability to get help and the issue with putting financial aspects over people's health, I got so emotional. Because I just remembered the moment when I realized that I needed help. I imagined what I would have been like to be seeking for help (crying out for help on the inside) and getting denied that because of financial reasons. It's almost to painful to imagine and I know that sounds dramatic but I'm not lying. It's just so unfair.
I dont think cassie does really firmly believe that she didnt do anything wrong - she is in denial and needs to convince the others on order to convince herself. She is emotionally distressed, she puked and apologized while crying and saying sorry to maddy over and over again. This girl knows she is 'the bad guy' as they say.. she just can't bare to officially admit to it and face the consequences
Yup, I think another big part of her denial is the fact that she's using Nate to mask how she really feels about her trauma, especially with everything that happened with Mckay last season. Admitting she's the bad guy would force her to face the reason she's making such bad decisions aka facing everything she's gone through.
Girl is going through a checklist for bpd, eventhough we all are upset with her and how selfcentered she is, this is a the cry for help we should react to. Lexy's play might be the punishment she deserves, but she's showing a pattern of self harm already, let's not push her into suicidal episodes when she's THIS unstable because a guy isn't responding to her texts.
“Because the hour is certain to come, so we must forgive graciously” probably one of my favorite quotes from the show and I think we can all remember this more in our lives.
In the scene where rue calls ali to apologize and he accepts it, he says “Because the Hour is certain to come, so we must forgive graciously”. It’s just one line but holds so much meaning. Ali is Muslim. In Islam, we believe that on the day of judgement (the hour) that everyone that owes someone a debt will have to repay it in the equivalent of good deeds. It can be material, but more often than not it’s emotional as well, i.e you take the good deeds of someone who wronged you terribly. So what Ali was basically saying was: I’m forgiving you now because I don’t want you to face such a thing in the afterlife. Small line, incredible depth.
I was raised Catholic but I have been fortunate to have friends from all over the world, and I find your faith to be so deep and beautiful. I appreciate your insights and having this represented in a mainstream show is refreshing.
I initially interpreted it as a sort of "do unto others as you'd have them do unto you" thing, which is nice, but the actual meaning in Islam that you described is much more powerful in this situation.
*9:01** Marsha is def projecting herself onto maddy. She was a lot like maddy when she was younger, and I have theorized since episode 3 that Marsha got pregnant, and kept baby aaron as a way to spite/trap cal into a life with her because she sensed Derek had feelings for Cal and wanted to keep them apart*
i’ve been waiting for this one yessss. Alexa Demie said in an interview recently what she thought was going through Maddy’s head during the gun scene. she said she was wondering how far this person she thought loved her would go. she said she was in survival mode but also in a way trying to test nate’s love for her she doesn’t believe he would truly want to hurt her and confronting the fact he would do something like this “breaks her”. she also said she knew jules was on the tape and wanted to protect her as well.
Honestly the generational trauma in this show is alot. That being said I think almost every family in some way or form has gone through this. I think our generation the mid 90s to early 2000s are finally learning skills of how to break it.
You gave a new perspective. Lots of viewers thought that there was no room in the rehab facility, but hearing that it might be an insurance issue made Leslie's sorrow that much more hard hitting.
@@theresistance3818 which is fucking shitty considering every time an individual tries according to the show they have a 5% chance meaning most ppl will need multiple times in the center until we understand addiction better.
a scene you didn’t cover that i thought was really interesting was the scene with Jules and Nate. it worries me. Jules is refusing to talk to elliot and rue doesn’t want to see her she has no one. and this person she once loved is showing her an ounce of kindness. and said he meant everything he said to her. i’m worried for her. i know it’s got to hurt
Yes! I realize I didn’t cover this either. I went full on watch mode. I will be covering this scene and my thoughts on it in the beginning of the next react video. Thank you for bringing this up. ♥️
I really believe Nate gave Jules back the CD to get into her good books again, because we know he hasn't moved on from her at all and even tells her he meant whatever he said. And because Jules is alone right now and often craves intimacy especially physically, she is in a very vulnerable position and might engage with him again.
Its interesting because the themes of being a good or bad person keep coming up throughout the season over and over. Also, the stuff about Maddy generalizing based on this individual situation with Cassie also goes back to what Rue says earlier in the episode about reducing someone's entire life down to a moment or decision and stuff like that. People can say what they want to about this season and series as a whole, but the threads have always been there.
THIS! I hate how much people bandwagon hate on a lot of these characters as this black and white "bad" or "good" when I feel like it's a major theme of the show that no one is 100% either way. Every single one of them makes bad choices and hurts someone else at some point.
@@callielayneherring5888 that’s the main reason i love this season, the whole point is that no character is good or bad. it’s really frustrating to be so definitive about each character. even maddie, she’s so loved rn and people are saying she’s one of the only good characters, but she’s really not a good person either. it was established in season one that she’s judgemental and mean, and she really lied about who choked her to protect nate. like no one is good nor bad.
1 month of cheating, knowing that you're wrong, deflecting, gaslighting, and playing the victim aren't a decisions that Cassie can easily come back from with maddy. what she does is self-betrayal that spills over to hurt her and the people around her. idk how she will fix that and i don't think she should be forgiven
@@sashaya998 every person on this show has done egregious things. And every person has a reason and or root of why they make the choices they do. Maddy has done unspeakable things in the name of love and loyalty for Nate. It doesn’t take away from that fact that he manipulated the shit out of her constantly. The same can be said for Cassie depending on what angle you’re looking at it from. These are children who are experiencing things that are generally very adult, but they’re very young people nonetheless. Mistakes will happen and bad choices will be made. Every one needs therapy. And Cassie doesn’t need to come back from anything. It’s ok tor friendships to end. It’s ok if things don’t work out or if Maddy can’t forgive her. She has her whole life to improve and learn and grow. Every one does. When it comes to Maddy and Cassie, the situation is sad and unfortunate. But a lot of factors come into play in regards to the how’s and why’s for both of them.
Rue narrates that Nate found his dads tapes though when he was 11 years old in season 1. Marsha says around 8-9 he started “turning dark”, so idk what else could have happened to make Nate the way he was. Idk. It gives me a feeling of alluding to some other traumatic thing happening to Nate. Also, interesting that Marsha sees that “she would keep the baby out of spite” - idk, maybe she’s projecting? OR I saw someone else say in the comments that she kind of feels an undertone of racism towards Maddy, because in season 1 we see Nate go to formal with a blonde, white girl and doesn’t even know her and says “I like her” when with Maddy we never saw any interaction like that. It’s just interesting.
its been a while, marcia cant possibly know the exact ega he changed...she said "around 9", the writers want us to give a hint to him watching the tapes back then
The problem with the U.S.'s for-profit health insurance industry is just that: it's for-profit. The industry will do whatever it can to cut costs, which means denying its customers legitimate treatments or forcing them to try a (usually) less effective treatment first, in order to turn a higher profit and reward shareholders in the company. When you allow your healthcare industry to put profits over patients, there's going to be mass human suffering.
The scene with Kat lying to Ethan really makes me mad, i don't understand why people has to lie in such a deep way, i have the personal experience of someone lying to me the same way she did (but with terminal cancer) and that is disrespecful and really messed up, horrible behaviour from her
I just can't understand what is happening in Kat's head. I hated her in season 1 and I started to like her in season 2, but then boom...she fuck it up...again. She really doesn't know what she wants in her life.
i’ve had a similar situation, he didn’t go that far, however he did say his friend died and that it was his fault, said he didn’t want anything to happen to me. a few months later i found out he lied about the whole situation (i had a gut feeling) and i just don’t understand it. i don’t get how someone can’t just be upfront about how they feel. i don’t understand why they think it’s okay to lie about something so serious. it’s just so disappointing
I lost an immediate family member, and a childhood friend, both to glioblastoma...this scene REALLY triggered, me too. Re-watching this scene, makes me feel, physically ill. I'm good on Kat and her storyline... I don't need to see her face, anymore, this season. #Disgraziato 🤌 ✌️🖕 😾
@@ome33ga42 if that was the case another type of lie would have been better (not saying that lying is ok), like... You don't play with this kind of things
I appreciate that you made it a point to highlight the inequality faced in black communities regarding access to quality healthcare . Thank you . Great Review ...
I don't know if you caught this but when Nate visits Jules and gives her the disc, everything he says mirrors her drug induced fantasy of him when she went to LA last season... I feel like Nate is trying to create a new Trauma-bond.
Thank you for the bathroom floor comment. I hate when you throwing up and someone judges you for laying on the floor it helps with the nausea and the gagging if you have nothing left to throw up.
What I find interesting is that I believe something else must've happened when Nate was 8 or 9. Rue said that Nate was 11 when he found his father's tapes. I wonder if it was something to do with the third son🤔.
Finally someone who says black comfortably. I know this is random but it irritates my soul when I’m talking to a non black person and they say “African American” 😂😂 black is not a bad word. Also I have no idea what dare is talking about when they said this show glorifies drug use. There is nothing appealing about what Rue is going through
Yep i said the same thing when Leslie was crying ppl keep saying it was because there are no more rooms. I voluntarily put myself in treatment for alcohol when I was 22 years old & I was around all types of drug addicts. It was one of the most learnable experience of my life & helped me learn about empathy & compassion. I remember I was put at the receptionist desk once a week to answer calls & parents would cry for help but I would have to tell them to get their loved one into detox & from there medical insurance will contact them and some will tell me medical insurance will not cover the cost. One guy I used to be in treatment with wasn't ready to leave treatment but his coverage was up I believe he was in there for over a year. few months after leaving he died from a overdose on his 23rd birthday. Some patients blamed his caseworker but they dont understand the process. Im from NYC I want to become a counselor but I dont have the money to go back to school to become one. 😔
I’m sitting with your words this evening-thank you for your service to those who are often so scorned and demeaned; my heart breaks for the kids and adults alike that lose their lives to the faults of our medical system. May he and the countless others rest peacefully. x
My friend I met at rehab was kicked out of rehab after being there only two weeks cause her insurance said she only needed 2 weeks. What addict do you know can get clean in 2 weeks?
Minor correction: Cassie knows what she did was wrong. She's just trying to justify it so she doesn't have to feel guilty anymore. The whole time she was panicking while it was hidden was because she *knew* it was wrong and she was betraying her friend. She cried over it when she nearly got caught in the bathroom with Nate.
I'm so glad you discussed the reality of that heartbreaking ending. watching a TV show like this where rehabilitation is depicted, sometimes you can forget that it's not always as easy as just showing up. there are barriers in place and often time the people that need help don't get it because of them. your insight on the issue was much appreciated and I hope to see you talk about it more!
That moment when Ali forgives Rue. Oh my heart! I cried so much. That changed her instantly. He knew exactly how much she needed that. I love seeing him with her family too!! Also, you are so right about insurance companies. It's insane how much has to be done just right and how much its left to individual interpretation. I'm a medical coder and there are sooooo many gray areas even in that. I. HATE. gray areas! Just gimme the damn rules straight forward! Whoever is being negative towards you and others that may do what you are doing, I hope you can do your best to ignore it. Your channel is pretty amazing and I love how upfront and honest you are. You have a unique perspective that many don't. Your past has truly made you an incredible person and I can tell has led you to helping so many people. Thank you for that!
About the health insurance issue you adressed in the video: as a foreigner, I always thought it was crazy how healthcare worked in the USA. In my country we have free healthcare, and eventhough it may have its flaws, it works pretty well and they definetly not deny health assistance to anyone. Ever. When someone’s going through health issues the last thing they need is to worry about wether they can pay for the treatment or not, or if the insurance is going to cover it. That sounds just appaling to me and I never understood why would anyone at all be ok with it
Is rehab also readily available for free where you live? I always wonder about mental health and addiction treatment in countries with universal healthcare.
@@partycitydumpster Mental health assistance is the one thing I can actually complain about. It is still free, but the waiting lists for getting appointments are often too long, so people who need urgent help end up paying for it. The meds are really cheap (and sometimes even free), though, and there are organizations that offer free and easy accesible therapy but only for specific groups of people, like addicts or cancer patients. I don’t really know about rehab and its efficiency, but I can say that there are free centers and treatments as well
@@partycitydumpster I live in Sweden. Here, rehab is indeed free, but, the system is pretty overstretched so the time you get with psychologists and the like can be somewhat limited. I consider our free healthcare an extremely good thing, but it might indeed often mean that they need to cut some corners and focus on the most critical cases and the most proven treatments.
@@Natsymir right, I think what many people fail to realize is that these problems are attributable to the complications of providing healthcare in general, and that Americans experience the same things but are just paying a shit ton to get slow, limited services. It took my aunt 2 months to get an appointment for a mastectomy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and she has health insurance. Psychiatric medicine especially has long wait times, and many psychiatrists don't even take insurance so that's the result of a privately funded system.
I really really appreciate you saying that anger is healthy and justified. As someone who experienced a lot of violence growing up - my anger protected me. It kept me ALIVE. And it makes me feel very frustrated and not listened to when people say I have to let go of that anger in order to heal. Anger at the way I was treated is what drives me to address my trauma and make sure I don't pass it on to another child, the way my family did to me.
As a therapist and someone currently working on the insurance side of things, I appreciate the commentary on MNC. It's ridiculous how they make everything so cookie cutter. Never been a fan. I work with people so my focus will always be on them, not stats. EVER! I'm not a fan of "celebrity therapists" and, though new to your channel, I don't consider you to be one of them. Sometimes you have to meet people where they are so I appreciate your commentary.
i'm so glad you addressed that ending so seriously. As someone who has dealt with a family member with VERY similar addictions to Rue, this ending was very real. My family was denied by insurance sooooo many times or told to just "take them to urgent care" or just "send them to a halfway house facility" when that wasn't what we needed in the situation at all. Drug treatments are INSANELY expensive and without help from insurance companies it can be a huuuge burden on families who are already dealing with severe trauma.
Your empathy to the characters make me feel such love for humanity, knowing that there is people like you out there fighting for the care we need, especially for those who need it most. Thank you for your content and your genuine interest in people and our wellbeing 💫✨
Hey!! I would really appreciate if you could go a little bit more in-depth on Cassie's behavior post-Rue tea spilling. As I was watching the episode I thought she was rationalizing her behavior (sleeping with Nate) due to the cognitive dissonance it caused about her ideal self (being a good person and Maddy's best friend). Cassie knew she was doing something wrong because Nate told her so many times and she herself was afraid of Maddy finding out. I think she was trying to convince her family because if they believed she did nothing wrong that would mean she is still a good person, that's why she is trying so hard. I also think that there is something on Cassie yelling at her mom about not having any self respect when her mother said nothing of the sort, I think Cassie is exposing how she feels and because she feels guilty and isolated she is retaliating by accusing people of seeing her how she sees herself. P.S: I love your channel, it is super fun to see how you apply stuff I learn in class to media I consume as a hobby.
I hope everyone in this fandom finds your take on insurance in the section at the end. The conversation about that end phone call has been confused at best and chaotic often. I really appreciate your take from a position that gathered abundant insight.
The show gets me empathetic to the characters, thanks to the emotionally intellegent script it has. Shit's gonna get real in the next episode, when Lexi's play is gonna premiere
This show shows addiction in different forms. Could be drugs addiction, self harm addictions, addicted to toxic person, addicted to receiving love/attention, addicted to lying
Thank you so much for defending the people that needed help💕speaking of empathy, as annoying as Cassie is we need to have some for her because she's been trying to fill the void that her dad left when he left since the first season & Nate just happened to catch her when she lost another man & was down bad.
Love that I found ur YT. Not a therapist but one correction @10:00 mins. In season 1 the show says nate was 11 when he found/saw his dad‘s video. When Nate’s mom mentions he randomly changed she says he was 7 (ish) . When cal left a few episodes ago and took the family portrait we see 3 boys… Nate has a younger bro that we haven’t seen! I’m so into this show lol…. I’m thinking, & cause of hints, Nate did something to his little bro out of anger/ jealousy, blocked it out or made it looked his lil bro had an accident & his fam help but have know the truth and don’t bring it up to Nate … they known about his anger issue, his mom knows he really did strangle maddy but tip toes around it b/c of his anger prob. Cal prob thought Nate will grow out of it & now feels guilt, he wasn’t the best dad but now he sees how Nate is really far gone.
I am a pharmacy student and i fell in love with the show because of its portrayal of mental health, danger of using opioids, and to me the most important part is how family trauma reflects on teens/young adults personalities, i recommend reading a book named It didn’t start with you by Mark Wolynn. Your reactions are literally what i live for, you’re such an inspiration so THANK YOU for existing on behalf of everyone watching we are so grateful for having you♥️♥️
Can we talk about how Cassie has serious BPD traits , as a BPD Diagnosed person i spot those in Cassie and it makes me " have empathy " for her and understand her and can't see how others don't , or am I just projecting :/
me too!! i've also bpd and related a lot to her, specially this season! still shitty behaviour though, but I can understand where it's coming from if it is indeed bpd
@@margaridaantunes1997 yes I've looked it up on Twitter lots of people have spotted those traits and yeah they made it sooo clear this season poor Cass :/ i hope she finds someone to love her and give her attention ..someone better than Nate
Yes. I also have BPD. Also in the grand scheme of the actions of the people in this show... Cassie is one of the least problematic characters. Maddy and Nate are both extremely abusive and manipulative people that's why they were so codependent on each other.
God I felt so sorry for Maddie this episode. I’m not sensitive at all but that scene was so hard to watch. I really hope she isn’t traumatized, Nate is such a fucked up person.
you know what? I feel terrible for Maddy too, and then I also remember how badly she fucked up that kids life last season FOR THIS SAME MAN, and I'm like you know what? you reap what you sow. hopefully this is a come to Jesus moment for her and she stops with the games
I’d love a deep dive into ashtray, ik it would be short cause he has little scenes but he’s very interesting, how he came to be the person he is, and what he feels at such a young age
Seeing Rue apologize to Ali, sober, revealing her wounded inner child brought tears to my eyes. Forgiveness is so important for healing the innocent child that resides within all of us.
I think this episode shows early signs of BPD in Cassie. It would make perfect sense as well since she was basically abandoned by her father as a young teenager.
I dont watch this show because i know myself well enough to know i would get wayyy too invested and sucked in, but i do love love love watching your reactions to it because youre such a kind and sweet voice of reason♥️ (added bonus: i can understand the euphoria tiktoks and memes lmao)
I have spent hours battling with my insurance company over a medication that has saved my life. It is getting to the point where my doctor and I have to fight them for every single dose to be authorized and we are being forced into other treatment options that might jeopardize the remission I just finally entered. My doctor should have say over the insurance company - she’s the one with the medical degree!!
You not only seem as an amazing therapist but also a great human being with a lot of compassion and empathy. I always look forward to your content, as someone that has struggled with mental health in the past (way better now but we all have our issues ahaha), seeing how open this time is to talk about these issues and open up some very difficult conversations, is truly refreshing and a beacon of hope and strength. I of course love this show but I feel in a very wholesome mood today so I wanted to also say to you that us watching are also glad you exist, in case you haven’t heard that today and since u also mentioned having a rough weekend. I truly admire you girl, rock on 🤘🤗❤️
Thank you so much for your compassion and dedication! It’s obvious that this isn’t just a job for you and that you want to help anybody to needs any kind of support. I think your videos are incredibly important, especially when it comes to a show like Euphoria. The show is so big yet there are so many important lessons to be learned from it. There’s just so much trauma and conflicting emotions involved when it comes to the characters and their behaviour and I think a lot of times people will just dismiss characters as bad people without thinking twice about it. And I think a lot of people who watch the show shouldn’t even do so because despite the fact that something is shown clearly on screen and we have Rue as a narrator, they will still interpret something in the complete opposite way, which I think is pretty harmful. But it’s always so crucial to reflect why characters are the way they are or why they keep engaging in problematic behaviour. It doesn’t mean it can be excused but we should all at least have empathy to understand where they’re coming from. We’re all flawed human beings and a lot of times haven’t been given the tools to understand, reflect and judge our own behaviour because as a society we still don’t prioritise mental health and the conversation around it. So thank you for all of your work and the monologue at the end 🥲
I'm a Euphoria fan and I'm studying psychology, and I'm so glad I found your channel! I look forward to seeing your take on the episodes every week. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these ❤
This message at the end made me genuinely emotional. I'm a college student who just barely started finally getting somewhere with medical care providers with some late-diagnosis mental health concerns and it's been such a long time since some one thanked me for showing up or being attentive or trying my best. I felt heard by you, and you're a stranger. Thank you
Also, re Nate's choice of Maddy--who does she rather resemble? Mother Marsha, with her dark eyes and hair, feistiness, and, yes, cruelty. She is such a hypocrite, considering her past actions which led her to marry Cal, needless to say. She was very sexually open and active, and I'm sure it didn't escape her that it could get the right man to marry her, and yet she is putting this down in today's women.
You seem like an amazing doctor and I'm glad patients had you as an advocate for addiction treatment ❤ the insurance companies & other barriers sound like a nightmare
Marcia is an absolute mess and honestly it’s sad. i love that scene. a lot of people are saying she’s a bad person and she deserved cal and maybe but also she’s kind of breaking down. her husband has admitted to cheating and left her she has nobody she hates her sons and has no idea what went wrong with nate and knows he’s a bad person but misses when he was so kind. she’s scared and sad and is kind of losing it. her actions aren’t good at all and the stuff she says is awful but i kinda get it.
Cal and Marcia is a cautionary tale of two people that shouldn't have been together. The ongoing theme of this show is generational trauma and toxic relationships.
I was like confused about feeling empathetic towards her bc at the end of the day she's been a shit mom to Nate too, not just Cal. Also the way she casually said Maddie deserved to be choked i was like 😶... I almost feel like there's some sort of underlying racism with how she feels about Nate dating Maddie vs Cassie
Thank you Dr. For fighting the good fight on behalf of all those who are lost and suffering in their addiction and helping us bystanders better understand.
I’m so grateful for what you are doing in this post episode breakdowns. That close out was something that I needed to hear but also needs to be said. Bravo 👏🏻
Thank you so much for speaking about healthcare and the way the industry works, no one should not be able to afford the help they need plain and simple. Brought tears to my eyes.
My dad was an addict and I avoiding him in his last year's because when it became hopeless it felt like we were grieving him already while he was still alive. I'm sure it made him feel pretty alone. But we felt helpless
Nah she just didn't have the guts to break up with him so she tried to gaslight him into breaking up with her. She doesn't like Ethan because she finds him boring. She has read and written a lot of fanfictions which have warped her views of relationships. That's why we see her fanfic caracter telling her she deserves him and not Ethan. She wants something more exciting like in a fanfiction.
One of the main reasons I've been watching Euphoria is to know or understand a little bit more where you come from with your commentary. You're really good at what you do, keep the good work and best wishes with everything you do. Greetings from Rome
damnnn it's admirable what you do and what you say. mental health is very important nowadays and people underestimate it... still. 17:29 it's so true what you said here and your ability to connect with people and also integrate your knowledge about psychology, that's great. i agree that it is necessary to understand certain things to have a clearer vision, so we can face certain problems more easily. I love knowing about our body and brain, it amazes me everything behind a human behavior. anyways, love ur videos!
i love watching your reactions and how you explain everything in such an easy way to understand and absorb. but honestly i feel like i love watching it more because you make me feel safe and understood in a way don't think i've ever felt before. somehow you make this huge (good) impact in my life and i'm sure in so many others here on yt. i'm so glad i found your chanel and i'm so glad that YOU exist too! people like you make the world less worse. thanks for you work, we really appreciate it 💜
I really love watching your reactions. It helps me understand things I never did before, including in myself. I haven’t had substance abuse issues but I do have several chronic illnesses that force me to take narcotics as well as other medications not available to the general public. They’re not fun for me at all, in fact I’ve had terrible side effects to most medications I’ve been prescribed (been undergoing medical treatment since late 2016) and have to deal with the side effects every day because there is nothing else that can be done for me. As a result of this, it is difficult for me to understand why someone would use these substances to help them “feel better” so to speak. Hearing you go into so much detail based on your personal and professional experiences helps me understand something I alone could not. What I do understand is fighting with insurance carriers for proper health care. It’s amazing that you prioritize care and not profit. Most medical professionals don’t - in my experience. In fact, the medical professionals I’ve had contact with lack empathy as well. So it is so good to see that SOMEONE cares and does their part. I really appreciate you and all the work you do. I hope to see more from you in the future. Since it doesn’t seem we will be getting a new season of Euphoria for years, I’d definitely appreciate you reacting to season 1 and the especial episodes when you have a moment.
That last scene broke my heart ….. I’m from the UK and at least we have the NHS facilities to help, breaks my heart for people in other counties that don’t have that option.
media is also a good way to discuss really specific and personal stuff without violating the privacy of real patients or talking about celebrities. To me psychology as therapy is about becoming your best self. That means that everyone is entitled to therapy and that everyones feelings are valid, whether you need it to deal with trauma or get treatment or if you just need a leg up because you are not being your best self or you wanna push yourself to be your best self. The worst thing you could ever do is to discourage people from asking for help regardless of how big or littler their issues are. Everyone internalizes stuff differently.
It feels kinda weird how they put a bit of attention to Gia. I mean, it’s good they’re acknowledging and validating her feelings now in the show but I think there’s foreshadowing going on here. - When Gia tells Ali, “I’m fine” and then says it again when she doesn’t hear him respond like she’s trying to convince herself more than she is Ali. Ali even replies he didnt say he didnt believe her. - During dinner, the conversation goes to Gia asking “Where’s the hope in that?” She’s clearly losing hope. - Ali telling Leslie to let Rue be Rue and give Gia some love ‘cause she’s been waiting on it. So Ali could maybe sense that something’s going on in Gia’s head - Gia asking to sleep next to Rue. It could be because she just plainly wants to be with her sister or it could also be like she’s saying goodbye in a way? - Rue telling Gia she doesn’t know anything about her life anymore, to which Gia answers, “I’ll tell you when you get back.” And they just leave it there. It seems like she’s planning something when Rue goes to rehab or she may also mean it like, “I’ll tell you when we meet again someday” in a more deeper sinister sense - Leslie saying “My daughter is gonna kill herself” again and again and the camera slowly pans to both Rue and Gia. Obv, she’s talking about Rue but the way the camera moves just feels like something really bad is about to happen. But the question is, to which daughter exactly? Also, last episode when Les and Gia were looking for Rue, Gia was just texting or something. When Les called her out, she just looked like she was over and done with all of it. She seemed so tired. I don’t want Gia to kill herself but I think that’s what they’re hinting at here. Many viewers are expecting Rue to die but really it might be Gia. Maybe I’m just thinking too much. But the biggest hint for me was when Ali asked Rue, “SO RUE, YOU THINK YOU HIT ROCK BOTTOM?” It’s like an implication that Rue is going to get lower than the last episode. Maybe because of something worse. Or even the worst. Like the death-of-your-sister kind of worst.
Too dark, even for this show i think. I believe they are just showing how loving family members can become worn out and give up hope dealing with years of addiction by a loved one.
I don’t think this is true. A lot of what you pointed out was stuff to show what Gia is going through. The filmmakers put it to show how Rue’s addiction is affecting Gia. In my opinion, it’s a good portrayal and isn’t weird at all. Honestly, it was long overdue. All of the things you pointed out, to me, were just things Gia is going through as a sister to a drug addict, not as someone who is going to kill themselves.
@@unfinished_sentenc2894 i hope so too. As i said, i don’t want Gia to die. And I like that they’re now giving her attention but what’s weird is how they’re doing it with the eerie camera angles, the dialogues that could have double meanings, the subtle hints that her current mental state isn’t really good. I agree that it’s been long overdue but something feels really off and too heavy with how they’re putting it out there. Like they seem to be building something up for shock value ‘cause again, as realistic as Euphoria is, it is still a tv show. People have been saying and expecting Rue to die at some point, maybe they’re planning to put a dark twist by showing us someone else’s death. And by how things are going right now, the gun scene with Nate and Maddy, Euphoria is taking a really dark turn. I hope I’m wrong though. Gia deserves to be happy. She’s been through so much.
nah, Gia wants Rue to get better but she's scared because everybody around her is telling Rue "you're gonna kill yourself!" Gia is scared for her sister and wants her to go to rehab. So she said "i'll tell you after you get back" and she meant from rehab. She wants Rue to go to rehab and stay there until she gets better.
I really enjoy your professional approach to this, it's filled with humanity whilst following logic (reffering to your experience with insurance companies). You said there that you have a lot to talk about this subject, which is definitely an important one, so maybe make a video diving into it. It could be really beneficial to a lot of families and individuals cursed by this meddled system. Keep up the amazing work you're doing ❤️
watching you react to each episode is sooooo insightful and really helps and i appreciate you sm for these. as someone who is fortunate enough to get access to therapy and counselling, i still feel like there's so much unpacking and processing that i need to go through between those 1 hour sessions every two weeks and being able to process my own experiences and thoughts just by watching your videos is mind-blowing so thank you!
Amazing analysis as usual! I'm sure I don't just speak for myself when I say I wish these videos were longer, like 30 minutes instead of 18 minutes. Please consider extending them because we really take in what you say and absorb it, and even the parts where you're just reacting from a place of simply being entertained, we would love to see that too. Thanks for sharing!
I just found your channel, and I'm so glad I did. I've had friends and family struggle with addiction. I just want to say thank you for helping, and being an advocate for those who society deems unworthy of help, and kindness. 🖤🖤
Your insight to the needs of those with addiction is refreshing and so nice to see. Thank you for providing this within the context of the show. You’re doing a great service to a great many people.
To find the way to understand the world that serves us. That idea is so powerful, Doc. Thank you for teaching us all this and making of us empathic people, even advocates.
There is a lot of misinformation going around, due to the popularity of the show and the very personal emotional reactions certain situations elicit from people. Sometimes people feel angry toward a character or more sympathetic due to their own personal experiences. Regardless of your intentions with your channel, which I do believe to be sincere. I appreciate being able to watch someone who knows what they are talking about and I have learned a lot. I didn't know what fetynal patches were for a small example. There is a lot in this show (specifically about drug addiction) that I didn't know or wasn't aware. like the symptoms of withdrawal for another example and I love to watch your videos, because they do grant me a deeper understanding of the episodes, based on facts.

This episode was so heartbreaking and traumatizing. Thank you for your words. ❤️
I recently came across this page and I instantly fell in love with your content! I think your page is so important!! THANK YOU FOR YOU FOR EDUCATING US! xo
Why is this no one talking about how she treated people who needed rehab for FREE??? Medical insurance didn’t cover treatment so she never made patients pay out of pocket but still treated them at her rehab center?? This doc is seriously such an angel. A saint. The world needs more people like you. The fact that your rehab center treated people based on human empathy and not medical coverage made me cry more than any episode of Euphoria has. You spoke about it from a passionate, caring perspective and I have all the respect in the world for you Doc.
I subscribed I very much just felt relief to hear you speak about this stuff it hurts so much but may the universe be on my side with my mom godbless everyone!
Sending so much love, you do such great work in explaining everything, educating us and creating new perspectives. If you don't hear it enough, we're glad you exist too. Thank you 🖤

Hey!
Thank you for all your kind comments on last weeks video.
She is pretty manipulative especially considering last episode when she flipped everything back on Rue and called her a liar.
i am so sad for cassie. she is crying für help and no one listens.
@@ilhan691 This is true, but I think she was referring to Cassie consoling Maddy throughout the course of their relationship.
Thiiiiiis.
yup yup yup
Mhm the situation is already so painful that she's doing everything she can to reduce that pain, including denying reality and clinging to Nate.
That last scene sucked the life out of the episode for me, hearing how desperate leslie was broke my heart 😪
Right like we were finally getting some hope
It was really depressing
“Because the hour is certain to come, so we must forgive graciously” probably one of my favorite quotes from the show and I think we can all remember this more in our lives.
its quoted from the Qur'an 15:85 :)
I think it may be foreshadowing
@@prettypleasewithsugarontop4858 it’s from the Quran
What does ‘the hour is certain to come’ mean? Is it about the moment we as individuals pass away?
@@Meooooowwwwwwwwwwww it means the Hereafter/Judgement Day, since in Islam we believe everyone will be judged after death.
I appreciate your insights and having this represented in a mainstream show is refreshing.
this is beautiful
I initially interpreted it as a sort of "do unto others as you'd have them do unto you" thing, which is nice, but the actual meaning in Islam that you described is much more powerful in this situation.
That line is actually from the Quran 15:85
@@partycitydumpster it's definitely Islamic, I'm Muslim and forgiveness is the core nature of us
*9:01** Marsha is def projecting herself onto maddy. She was a lot like maddy when she was younger, and I have theorized since episode 3 that Marsha got pregnant, and kept baby aaron as a way to spite/trap cal into a life with her because she sensed Derek had feelings for Cal and wanted to keep them apart*
Exactly!! I don't know how so many people missed it.
Exactly
Never noticed that!
i’ve been waiting for this one yessss.
Some of us are...some of us...not so much.

You gave a new perspective. Lots of viewers thought that there was no room in the rehab facility, but hearing that it might be an insurance issue made Leslie's sorrow that much more hard hitting.
.... For most people, unfortunately, it's usually, always, an insurance issue... especially, if you've been to rehab, more than, once.
This scene was so important. I wish she had covered it.
Yes! I realize I didn’t cover this either. I went full on watch mode. I will be covering this scene and my thoughts on it in the beginning of the next react video. Thank you for bringing this up. ♥️
@@the.truth.doctor oh my god yay that’s awesome. and i totally get it i was so invested too haha
YESSS. This episode truly showed this for me. I truly love this show; no matter what people say it's helped me to know myself so much
It’s just interesting.
its been a while, marcia cant possibly know the exact ega he changed...she said "around 9", the writers want us to give a hint to him watching the tapes back then
I got racial tones from throughout the show too
The problem with the U.S.'s for-profit health insurance industry is just that: it's for-profit.
I just think she didnt want to contront the fact that she wanted to break up bc of her
She didnt want to confront the fact thwt she was the problem
I lost an immediate family member, and a childhood friend, both to glioblastoma...this scene REALLY triggered, me too. Re-watching this scene, makes me feel, physically ill.
I'm good on Kat and her storyline... I don't need to see her face, anymore, this season.

What I find interesting is that I believe something else must've happened when Nate was 8 or 9.
Rue said that Nate was 11 when he found his father's tapes. I wonder if it was something to do with the third son🤔.
Rue doesn’t actually know for sure. She’s an unreliable narrator and she wasn’t actually there.
@@cnomi8447 By that logic, we should throw Nate's entire backstory out of the window, since Rue isn't supposed to know any of it.🤷🏾

May he and the countless others rest peacefully. x
I also hope that one day, you may be able to go back to school-in the same boat, and try to spread the little love I can each and every day. 🌼
My friend I met at rehab was kicked out of rehab after being there only two weeks cause her insurance said she only needed 2 weeks. What addict do you know can get clean in 2 weeks?
sending you love
Thank u in the UK the health care is free not perfect but free none the less USA supposed to be best country on earth then fix healthcare crisis
Somebody described Cassie as a combination of Jules and Maddy and I cannot unsee it.
My thoughts exactly 💯
And her boss is grooming her, she has a hidden camera in the dresser...
@@primaveradel78 huh? how would you know that?
@André Coelho interesting i guess i didn’t notice that :/
@André Coelho yeah it was, also it would make sense because samantha was kinda flirty with maddy
I screamed the exact same way you did right at the beginning when I saw you had posted, and our screams synced perfectly😂
I love that you know how much power that sentence ("I'm glad you exists") has. Thank you for that. ❤
I'm really glad you exist and are creating content to help us process the really graphic nature of this show. It really helps.
I truly admire you girl, rock on 🤘🤗❤️
Thank for focusing on the last scene! What a heartbreaking moment for Rue’s mom. 💔
Thank you
this channel is a breath of fresh air, thank you!
I get it up until she admits she knew Nate choked Maddy. Like that was before Cal left…
that whole family needs a lot of help
Cal and Marcia is a cautionary tale of two people that shouldn't have been together. The ongoing theme of this show is generational trauma and toxic relationships.
I was like confused about feeling empathetic towards her bc at the end of the day she's been a shit mom to Nate too, not just Cal. Also the way she casually said Maddie deserved to be choked i was like 😶... I almost feel like there's some sort of underlying racism with how she feels about Nate dating Maddie vs Cassie
@@rhi4288 I like how the ongoing theme is two themes lol
The ending got me emotional. You helped me so much through these videos.
By far one of the most uplifting and educating, videos that can come out of this show. You have a gift doctor. I am glad that you exist 💞
I feel like maybe Kat is taking the "I'm gonna hurt you before you can hurt me" route with Ethan
Yes! I was waiting for this!
Hope you enjoy!
damnnn it's admirable what you do and what you say. mental health is very important nowadays and people underestimate it... still. 17:29 it's so true what you said here and your ability to connect with people and also integrate your knowledge about psychology, that's great.
i agree that it is necessary to understand certain things to have a clearer vision, so we can face certain problems more easily. I love knowing about our body and brain, it amazes me everything behind a human behavior. anyways, love ur videos!
i love watching your reactions and how you explain everything in such an easy way to understand and absorb.
but honestly i feel like i love watching it more because you make me feel safe and understood in a way don't think i've ever felt before. somehow you make this huge (good) impact in my life and i'm sure in so many others here on yt. i'm so glad i found your chanel and i'm so glad that YOU exist too! people like you make the world less worse. thanks for you work, we really appreciate it 💜
your videos on this show have opened my eyes SO SO much. thank you for your wonderful commentary
I wish these were longer… you’re the only person whose reaction I care about
Thank you for saying “I’m glad that you exist” sometimes I need to hear that.
Truth Doctor: Speak your truth, Kat!!!
Kat: *lies about brain cancer*
Truth Doctor and Ethan: What? 😭🤣
i like your reactions. you seem like an authentic person who truly wants to understand and help others. sending so much love ❤️
That last scene broke my heart ….. I’m from the UK and at least we have the NHS facilities to help, breaks my heart for people in other counties that don’t have that option.
Thank you so much for addressing the healthcare insurance issue and how it affects people who desperately need medical attention
media is also a good way to discuss really specific and personal stuff without violating the privacy of real patients or talking about celebrities.
I love you Doc. Keep doing what you do. I've learnt so much from you
It feels kinda weird how they put a bit of attention to Gia.
So Ali could maybe sense that something’s going on in Gia’s head
- Gia asking to sleep next to Rue. It could be because she just plainly wants to be with her sister or it could also be like she’s saying goodbye in a way?
- Rue telling Gia she doesn’t know anything about her life anymore, to which Gia answers, “I’ll tell you when you get back.” And they just leave it there. It seems like she’s planning something when Rue goes to rehab or she may also mean it like, “I’ll tell you when we meet again someday” in a more deeper sinister sense
- Leslie saying “My daughter is gonna kill herself” again and again and the camera slowly pans to both Rue and Gia.
But the biggest hint for me was when Ali asked Rue, “SO RUE, YOU THINK YOU HIT ROCK BOTTOM?”
It’s like an implication that Rue is going to get lower than the last episode.
She’s been through so much.
nah, Gia wants Rue to get better but she's scared because everybody around her is telling Rue "you're gonna kill yourself!"
Gia is scared for her sister and wants her to go to rehab. So she said "i'll tell you after you get back" and she meant from rehab. She wants Rue to go to rehab and stay there until she gets better.
You're truly an amazing, compassionate person. I really wish I had someone like you when I was suffering with opiate addiction.
You are so honest and inspiring. I love your content! It is much needed :)
watching you react to each episode is sooooo insightful and really helps and i appreciate you sm for these. as someone who is fortunate enough to get access to therapy and counselling, i still feel like there's so much unpacking and processing that i need to go through between those 1 hour sessions every two weeks and being able to process my own experiences and thoughts just by watching your videos is mind-blowing so thank you!
This is random but i love the colors of the space you film in. It’s so vibrant and pleasing
So much respect for you for going through those processes for others fighting for the lives of so many !!!!! What a beautiful way to spend your time!
Thanking you for saying this, that scene at the end my heart broke.,What you are doing is important ok.
I recently came across this page and I instantly fell in love with your content! I think your page is so important!! THANK YOU FOR YOU FOR EDUCATING US! xo
the fact that you wouldn’t make them pay makes me tear up. thank you so much for doing that
Why is this no one talking about how she treated people who needed rehab for FREE??? Medical insurance didn’t cover treatment so she never made patients pay out of pocket but still treated them at her rehab center?? This doc is seriously such an angel. A saint. The world needs more people like you. The fact that your rehab center treated people based on human empathy and not medical coverage made me cry more than any episode of Euphoria has. You spoke about it from a passionate, caring perspective and I have all the respect in the world for you Doc.
Did y'all clock the camera in the alarm clock when Maddy was trying on the dresses? Something weird is going on there.
Yes! Why did they show that so specifically?!
Healthcare should be free at point of service, it's a NECESSITY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH DR
I love watching it from your perspective and learning stuff 😭💖
I subscribed I very much just felt relief to hear you speak about this stuff it hurts so much but may the universe be on my side with my mom godbless everyone!
Sending so much love, you do such great work in explaining everything, educating us and creating new perspectives. If you don't hear it enough, we're glad you exist too. Thank you 🖤
What you spoke about at the end, thank you so much for spending your time and money helping others. Sending soooo much love your way ❤
