Hey Kashish, the calculator was never considered to be intelligent - if a machine could do a task, then the task by definition did not require intelligence. Hope this helps :)
A calculator doesn't know what operation to perform by itself. It needs to be told that it has to add or subtract or so on. It is not using its own intelligence. Hence its is not an AI

May I disagree with the man in his idea of what AI is as he basis it on machine... Probably his explanation is derived from the most popular or the one available type of host of AI, which in this case is machine... A human being has so far been limited to using machinery and circuits as host, but others in their Bio-Sciences are still looking for the possibility of recreating "synthetic" fibers that can host and at the same time transmit, plus the one thing that seems impossible at the moment which is growing and multiplying similar cells (which wouldn't be fiber as far as I can tell)... So what I'm saying is that AI shouldn't be "making a machine" but making a being or a host... Anyway, a phone is one host we all know and I had an idea that got me to find this video... I'm not good at creating things but I was thinking if someone can develop an "AI Companion" application which to me would mean almost like the navigation app, it can learn to socialize. All starts in english but can be loaded other languages and can also learn languages out of continuous interaction with handlers, same way our phone dictionaries and apps can save used words and phrases... Anyone up for it???
