Great video: I watched about a half-dozen and yours was the first to get right to the point and actually show what each hose looks like, with its connection points. I expect to save a lot of time now when I do mine. Hope your project goes well!
That oil cooler hose at the back just blew on my NA. It was spurting out at my firewall. Now I know where all my anti freeze was going. Great video but how the heck am I going to get at that hose? There is a lot of crap back there. It looks like you had pulled the plate that has the spark plugs and coils? It looks like that hose was practically glued to the metal what a pain. It seems just as hard to get at the top of the oil cooler from below. Hate to tow her in for that hose.
Sorry to hear that happened to you. To get the hose at the back of the head I had to remove the coil pack. It was already off when I did the video. The hose was pretty stuck on there. I wasn't able to get the clamp off since the ears were facing down. So I had to just slowly whack it off with a flat head screwdriver and a hammer. For the two connections on the oil filter plate I had to remove the alternator which I had already removed in preparation of doing my timing belt. Both the alternator and coil pack are relatively easy to remove. Hope that helps!
What is the name of the hose that goes to the back of the head? I just bought a nb and the day after I bought it the line busted on me and I already have a whole kit on order but it won’t get here till the end of the month so I’m trying to order just one of those hoses to replace in the mean time
Sorry to hear that that hose blew on your Miata 😭 Here is a link to the two lines that connect to the oil filter housing. www.jimellismazdaparts.com/products/mazda/Miata/HOSE--WATER---OIL-COOLER-IN/1836781/BPE815536.html Heres the part number for my 1995 NA 1.8 Miata M Edition BPE8-15-536 Here is a diagram of showing where the part connects. www.jimellismazdaparts.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=299362&ukey_make=995&ukey_model=14360&modelYear=1995&ukey_category=20232 www.jimellismazdaparts.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=299370&ukey_make=995&ukey_model=14360&modelYear=1995&ukey_category=20232 This dealer also has many diagrams that you can reference for your specific year and model. If you need the part immediately, then I suggest calling your local Mazda dealerships and see if they have the part in stock. Most will since the Miata is a popular car. Hope this helps you out and good luck with your miata!
Also one thing I forgot to mention in the video is that you will need to remove your coil pack to get to the hose that runs to the back of the head. You will also most likely need to remove your alternator to get to hose that connect to the oil filter plate.
