    Morgan, love your channel! I live and ride, very amateur I should add, in northern Nevada and California, based in Reno. I just gor back on a bike after 22 years (two back surgeries required) and am 54. I picked up an 06 KTM 450EXC very cheap and for my ability and riding style it suits me very well. It came with mic matched tires, Bridgestone Battlecross X40 rear and a Tusk Crossbite up front. The Battlecross seems to be a great tire, the Crossbite absolutelt sucks! Its sketchy at best in this terrain. I bought my 13 year old Emex T45's for hus XR100 and he is loving them, his confidence has gone way up almost instantly. I was considering just putting an X31 on the front but am having thoughts of trying the Emex T45's as a matched pair. Long wear is important to me but so is feeling planted on all this hard pack decomposed granite. Have you tested the T45's? Would you have other recommendations? Price point is also a factor as we also need to put some new rubber on my other son's 03 DRZ250. He's the older brother at 17 but far less experienced at this point. I really value your opinion and respect your time as well. I would consider it an honor to ride with you! Also love your maintenence/repair videos, I do all my own maintenence and your videos have been a vert welcome resource. Thank you for all you do and God Bless!

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  3 месяца назад +1

      I actually like the T-35 front better than the 45. The X31 is absolutely amazing though. Its expensive but worth the money in my opinion. I get The tusk tires for free and I have to pay for bridgestones. If I want performance I buy the bridgetones.

    This matches my thoughts on the Talon. It’s very very close to the JX8, but the JX8 has the edge on slimy rocks/roots. Is it worth an extra $40? Hard to say. For the price, you could throw on a brand new Talon every 12hrs vs running the JX8 to 20hrs.

    The bib being to long brings up a question. How do you store your "chunks". If they float around my garage say in the summer in TX currently 109 today. They tend to crack. What do you do? Lock them in a bin? Chunk them in a milk crate? I have currently been using sacked tires on my tire rack for "chunk material" storage. Inquiring minds want to know.

    • @Danman1972
      @Danman1972 Год назад

      @@neizpiez Never really kept them lubed, but a good idea. I have started using the silicone brake grease. Maybe like 10 or 12 dollars for a large tube and does not break down with water. I also found some cool little rubber plugs on RMATV that go in the valve stem hole. but may start using the an old hollowed valve stem to shoot air in to "puff" the tire. I've heard you can also do that with lube.

    Been running one of these Talons for about 10 hrs or so now and it's pretty much done. It's kind of a bummer b/c it has quite a bit of knob left but it just won't hook up accept for in rocks otherwise it mostly spins. I've even rotated it to get more use out of both sides/directions of rotation. Would I buy another, meh not likely but I also don't like supporting Chinese companies with their GOV so hell bent on war with us, China can just SUCK IT. Anyhow, for $60 it was worth trying and those first 2-3 hrs were pretty darn good then it's crappo!

    The $$$$ to grip calculator is hard to quantify but it's worth every penny. In Hawaii we run Kenda Knarly 140's to get as much contact patch as possible, 4 psi or less. Have you tried the wide tires or is it pointless in your terrain?
