Garuda Indonesia New Experience + B737 Private Jet Villa

- I had a sneak peek at how a retired B737-200 is turning into a luxury private jet villa with amazing ocean views from the cliff in Bali. It should be opening later this year for stay.
After a great time in Bali, I flew out on Garuda Indonesia A330 to Jakarta. It was a short 1 hour 40 minutes flight but with full service in both Business Class and Economy Class. The usual amenities have returned with the exception of face covering is still required onboard. Garuda Indonesia is well known to have some of the best cabin crew, which reflects Indonesian hospitality.
Next, I met up with Garuda Indonesia CEO Irfan Setiaputra. I asked him about the future of Garuda Indonesia and how it can compete with other airlines.
I love the creativity of the people converting the retired 737. Instead of leaving it to rot or selling it to scrap and turn into soda cans, this one manage to turn this one into *A HOUSE.* We need more people doing this, especially if that was a retired A380...
No please, we really don't need more people doing things like this. This is an aviation channel so it makes sense that Sam Chui will highlight things like this. But there's a reason houses are built the way they are, with 4 walls, an angled roof and big windows for the sunlight to come in. A house needs to feel warm and welcoming to the residents in it. It is not about the "cool factor". I hope more people actually understand that and try to build sensible houses for themselves instead of going for fancy nonsense just for the attention, bragging rights and "instagram-worthy" photos.

It's originally rot somewhere, but it's recently moved there.
Love it! Aircraft hulls are already great prefab structures. Renovating it into a home takes tons of creative energy! It would be really nice if it still can be powered with an APU to get the relaxing atmosphere on 😁

Totally agree. Indonesians are very hospitable. I always joke that the Indonesian female cabin crew staff are so gentle compared for example with the KLM Dutch female cabin crew who behave like wild buffaloes.
Great video Sam. Welcome to Indonesia, it is a nice interview with the CEO of Garuda. I do believe Mr. Irfan made lots of changes in the management and led Garuda to be much better than before. Keep soaring high Garuda Indonesia!
I flew with Garuda from Bangkok to Jakarta last Feb and it was great experiences. The crews were so friendly, they even helped an old man in front of me to apply customs declaration to get the digital barcode before landed in Jakarta.
Garuda has changed enormously over the last few yrs. Now has a hugely improved reputation. Great service, crew, way better maintenance schedules , & a fleet that doesn't appear to have aged significantly. Great to see them now back into countries that had initially banned them due to some fairly substantial safety concerns. Great work Garuda , great result

I also want to inform you that at the time of this comment, Garuda Indonesia has a total of 86 aircraft. The Private Jet Villa review is amazing, flying onboard the special A330 Kembara Angkasa livery is also my favorite part of this video, and even meeting with CEO of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra for the second time is incredible. I know that everyone knows you in the aviation industry but to take the time to help the crew make the rest of the passengers experiences memorable is great. Would love to some day have the chance to come to Indonesia but right now just great to live the journey through you.

I remember flying with Garuda many yrs ago when their reputation wasnt so good but I had one of the best experiences ever great services good food and very generous pours when it came to ordering a scotch or 5 !
Nice video! It's quite amazing that you got to fly on both the updated interior Airbus A330-300 (PK-GPZ) and the updated interior Boeing 737-800 (PK-GFQ), since most Garuda planes still have the old and outdated interior. Hopefully, they will modernize all their planes in the future!

Oh, what a fabulous idea for repurposing an old jet. The view was gorgeous! I hope you are able to go back once it's completed and stay or tour it. I really think American based airlines need to kick their passenger service up. That airline you flew on was under a 2 hour flight, and they served a meal. Love your videos, keep up the great job.

Even though Garuda is still in recovery stages after pandemic, corruption scandals and also near bankruptcy, we have to appreciate what Indonesian government rescue plans taken to safe Garuda Indonesia. Like what Garuda CEO said in this video : " We may not become the biggest airlines in this region, We may not become Airlines that have many networks to fly, and may not have all the newest Airplane, But I will make sure that we will become an Airlines who take care it's passengers". I think with that kind of mentality and attention to details that will make Garuda Indonesia back to being one of the leading airline companies in south east Asia. #garudaindonesia #indonesianpride #visitindonesia

Many Indonesians dont like this airline not because its a terrible airline, but they were dissapointed by the corrupt management few years ago (2019). In fact, Garuda has financial problem, so the government backed up with the national treasures, that make people more angry. Its hard to gain trust from people nowadays, if the government do not restructurize the management, not just in Garuda, but all line of government institution
