haven't studied this new camera yet, but the FZ1000 stunk in the way no manual focus while in zoom mode. Very not good. When in focus it's great, but the contrast to focus goes wacky. If they haven't improved this, then I'm staying away.

It has a servo zoom next to the photo trigger. So you can zoom and then find focus quickly with the other hand. I do a s-ton of DIY videos, and I use it over my more expensive cameras all the time. Saves me sooo much time not swapping out lenses.
Nice camera. What about slow motion? What resolution and what FPS is the highest it goes? Also I think I saw a mic jack and a hot shoe? I wish you guys would have talked about that for us video guys. Oh yeah, and ball park price? Thanks

By using the EZ zoom feature you can double that 480mm to 960mm with virtually no loss of image quality. And, using the 4k photo feature, you can grab 12 megapixel stills from 4k footage.
I own the G85 and it's pretty darn good for video and stills. I use mainly the premium Panasonic and Olympus lenses too which helps. The sensor is also larger in the G85 if that is a factor to you. The FZ2500 has the advantage of convenience-the built in mega zoom, built in ND filters & a headphone port for monitoring audio, which is not on my G85. The FZ2500 is a good all-rounder by the looks of it.
Yeah, V-log L upgrade will be available for $99, just like the original GH4. I hope they do the same for the G80, both cameras can be a nice B-cam to the GH5 and having V-log L in the G80 would really help that.

Super informative kept my attention the whole time and gave me all the specs as well as there benefits to me as a professional photographer looking for a b roll video/photo camera. I already own to Hasselblad Nikon 35 mm and a Nikon D 7100. I think this might just round out my working collection
Yep I know.. I'm thinking about adding a 0.7 Wide angle adaptor for certain wide shots; but perhaps I should just buy a previous gen 1' pocket cam with it to cover low light and wide angle? 20-70mm with a fast aperture and IS would be nice.
I am also planning to buy G80, probably with 14-140 lens (I hope that G80 stabilization will solve jitter issue of this lens). Another option could be Nikon DL24-500, since big zoom is important for me. But it's more and more delayed, who knows when it will finally be released.

I'm still trying to figure out how to view the full size photo when I go to playback. It has a very small pic, the info under it, and a histogram to the left.
Surprised that the guy who is usually behind the camera shot such underwhelming and short clips with the FZ2500. Also surprised that his voiceover was of worse quality than the sound recorded on location. Too much walking around and fancy shallow DOF, too few shots made with the camera being reviewed. I saw more of her tattoos than the actual photo or video samples.
Actually it's probably the shutter speed. For 30p video the standard is 1/60 and 1/48 for 24p, so they may have been using a faster shutter speed than is generally warranted for 30p. The only reason this would be the frame rate is if they were shooting at less than 24fps which is unlikely.
The use of DOF is excessive and distracting in many parts. Also, I'm guessing there was a mistake in frame rate settings during export. Other than that, it's a decent preview, just hard to watch.

What I mean is the FZ1000 has only one ring... so you have to zoom, then switch to focus. That's a huge issue. Needs dedicated rings

From the Panasonic website: focal length of 36 - 720mm in 35 mm equivalent in 4K video recording. so it is abot 1,5x crop

FZ2500 does not have the same touch screen as its predecessor, simply because the FZ1000 does not have touch screen.
Make it a m43 sensor with a shorter zoom-range and it'll be the best all-rounder.
Great camera but shame on Panasonic for not adding weatherproofing. That issue alone rules it out for me!!
