Hello Joe Gift & Mom w/family! I truly enjoy the "open air" markets and vendors. My first introduction was visiting my paternal grandmother living in Hong Kong for the first time in 1973. The reason being the size of affordable living space and cost of refrigeration. Nice tip about the Social Security information! Happy 4th Joe! Enjoyable video as always; good fortune, health, fun and happiness. Stay safe everyone!

As I understand it, this form (7162) must be mailed in to arrive(recorded as received)by the end of January the following year annually...
I just started drawing this year, so as I understand it, I'll send in next year...
They send out the form via snail mail to your address, but hopefully, I can download online...
I maintain a USA address still, makes many things easier...
Looks like typical rainy season has arrived, good for the greenery...
Big malls, big chances to spend, haha...100 baht is just going to make Gift mad!
Enjoy the weekend, hopefully your son will enjoy Thailand like so many of us do!

Hi Gift and Joe, on the move again I see. This time to Bangkok to take Gift's Mum and Oum back to Bangkok. Wow, that Shopping Mall is enormous! Not my cup of tea at all. I prefer to know what I want, go to the shop get it and come straight out again. I hate wandering round for the sake of it, unless I am choosing food of course 🙂 I hope and pray that your son had a safe trip from Germany and that he is now safely ensconced in your beautiful house. I am sure that you will both have a wonderful time with him. God bless you all and keep you safe 😀❤🙏

Hello Joe and Gift, that was a very nice and informative video. I have to admit though that the more that I watch your videos, the more that I see what real everyday life is in Thailand. Not the Thailand through the tourist's eyes after spending 30 days at a time in Thailand. The more that I watch Thailand, the more that I want to come back for another 30 days visit. I now know that I can not live in Thailand for health reasons. I have high blood pressure, and everything that I see to eat in Thailand in both Thai's food and Western food have too much salts, oil, and saturated fats. Also, the temperature is too damn hot and humid for me to do my daily walk without looking a wet fish afterward. It is a beautiful country, and I would love to visit Thailand once again, but you guys have convinced me via your videos that it would not be a good fit for me when it comes to maintaining my health to live in Thailand full time as a retiree.

Honestly, I feel as though I eat much healthier living in Thailand where the food is mostly fresh and not processed or full of preservatives. As for medication, I get mine from the pharmacy, no prescription required and the pharmacist are very knowledgeable about the medications I take. The weather is definitely not for everyone.

    • @eli1570

@@thaigirlgiftforeignerjoe7774 Yeah, that is another problem I have with my medical health insurance. Apparently, my medical insurance told me that they will cover only 1/3 the cost for everything including prescription medications when I am outside the USA, and 100% when I am inside the USA. I'm not sure that I can find a discount medical insurance program that will only cover the other 66% that I need cover when I am in Thailand. Eating non processed food is easy in the USA if you are willing to do shopping and cooking for yourself at home. I don't really trust the restaurants in America as well, because they use too much salt, sugar, oil, butter, and cheese on everything.

I don't know where I will end up yet, but for now I can totally afford living the FIRE life style in my own home in Northern California. I'm still looking around YT for that perfect retirement destination outside of the USA. Let me know if you have a tip on a good retirement place for me to check out. I would love to use the economic arbitrage of my US Dollars in a country outside the USA to live a more luxurious life style than I am living now.

    5:17 Representing our Mekong Delta!!!
I am still praying for direct flights from Can Tho to Bangkok so it will be easier for us to get there and easier for you, and others, to visit our area. As of now you have four options...1) Fly here but be annoyed by a layover somewhere else in Vietnam. 2) Fly to Saigon and ride in a van for 3 hours with your butt clinched and your eyes closed, praying that you make here alive because there is 99% chance that those drivers will make you fear for your life. 3) Fly to Saigon and ride for 3 hours on a sleeper bus. Why aren't there regular busses for just a 3 hour drive? I have no idea. I have a sneaky feeling you don't want to ride a bus laying flat and feeling like you have been wedged into a coffin. 4) Drive your own vehicle for 20 hours straight from PKK to Can Tho. (I have no idea how one would go about driving their own car through 2 country borders and are not sure how safe it is to traverse Cambodia.) 😁

Not sure how germane this is but foreign spouse must meet the usual criteria 1)spouse is receiving SS 2 )meets age requirements and 3) must have 5 years of US residency jointly to receive benefits. This is true for spousal or survivor benefits. Some exceptions for foreign citizens from countries with retirement systems with agreements with the US. Thailand and the Phillipines are not among them. If you father foreign children, unless they are US residents or US citizens no survivor benefits without residency.. personally i was shocked to learn this. If a Thai marries an old codger like me and fathers children cannot rely on SS for spouse/survivor benefits.
