- As a massive Commodore fan. I have wanted an A500 for some time. This was a gift from my fiance. So in this unboxing video. I am going to show you the A500 Mini by Retro games Ltd, how it looks, feels, Setup new firmware that adds new features and also test some games.

Give me the original machine any day. I did think about going down that path, but though "too complicated and costly"
so i bought the A500 mini.
One of the things i liked of the original machine was going around to my friends place, hooking up two Amiga 500's via null-cable, and playing Stunt Car Racer (multiplayer) link
WinaUAE probably could do this, but A500 mini.. that would be something..
I think it's purely the tactile thing. The Maxi should be releasing next year.

The A500 Mini was my own Xmas Gift for myself in 2022 😅.
Meanwhile I found a lot of Things to Do with it such as a Workbench (Aminimiga, AGS2 - which stands for Amiga Games Starter and includes an whole bunch of whdload games) or a huge Collection of CD32 Games especially built for this cute machine.
Funfact: back in 1993 I bought an Amiga 600, which was packed together with Zool and Pinball Dreams.😂

Sine under the hood, it runs Amiberry anyway,, Having tried Amiberry on Mac, no cartridge support... i'm sure there are other things but no one will really mind, just as long we can play "our games"
Having owned the original machine,games etc... the thought of everyone getting excited over emulation inside a 3D printed case, i dunno weather to cheer to laugh. I even use WinUAE, and still wish i had my AMiga 500. nothing will wipe out that memory... There is noting better.
42 here, but feelin like a kid again with those amiga 500 games. They still hold up good and have a certain charm about them.

The Amiga mini joypad works on the C64 maxi. If you load up Pandory, you can emulate the C64 and other retro machines. It’s not perfect though. Quake works out the box with joypad.

There’s some nice PD games available that have been converted to WHDLoad, such as Tetris Pro and Cabinet Asteroids. There’s an updated Bombjack too. Of course, if you like 8 bit classic games, Barbarian, Star Wars, Arkanoid are all available. You’ll need to select the mouse options for Star Wars and Arkanoid. One thing I like is that gamepad compatibility is much higher on the Amiga mini than the C64 models.
13:00 can you remove saved games or just overwrite ? I've been trying to empty a save game slot, but cannot figure out how to.

i just bought a portable monitor to use mine on, at the risk of sounding stupid (which isnt difficult) i know i need to get a power adaptor for the monitor, do i need one for the console too? its just confusing lol
It comes with a USB cable. You just need a plug to plug the USB into your give it power.

I'd like to get pumped as well, but its emulation... Its like getting excited over what looks like CD, yet its not a CD at all..
Its always to going to be 2nd best for me. I feel disappointed i just bought an A500 mini and use emulation in WinUAE on a daily basis but the hardware is just too expensive. My nostalgic is gone forever.
Any coloring to cases i always think their "retro brighted" No Amiga 500 owner i knew had a white case like that.

Looks like you can pasue/resume, but what if you wanted to start the game again from beginning ??
Then you start a game from the beginning again. White cases for the 500 never existed. That came with the 600 and 1200.
@@JustJamie1983 So your saying you have you resume a game just to restart it..? I'm sure there could be a firmware update to fix that.. Add to carousel "resume" and another "restart" buttons.. I'm not against the A500 mini, but it could be better.. I can see that option in itself, can be a valid reason not to buy one where other platforms based on the same software (i.e Amiberry on Mac) allows this.
Commodore going different routes for coloring seems kinda off... dunno why..
