Did you own an Atari 400 or Atari 8-Bit Computer? I'd love to hear your stories!

No one bought the 5200, they should have released the 7800 2 years earlier rather than put it in storage and I think the 8 bit consoles would have been much more interesting.

Atari Blast is a great Homebrew title. I also came across another great Shoot 'em up which was originally going to be publish back in the 80s, but ended up only being released in 2020. It's called Sector Wars and was released on AtariAge.

I was 5 in 1979, we were broke, and I begged to get the 2600 from Sears

Were you ever able to get your hands on one later on? I used to always beg my parents when it came to the bigger ticket items to just lump all of my gifts into one 😅

It’s been really fun discovering games that are new to me. I’ve only been able to emulate .atr ROMS and the list only goes from A-L so no Pole Position for me 😢 which was my favourite 2600 game. Been slowly going through the games learning how to play them and using a USB-A faux SNES controller which works really well.

That's always been one of my favorite things to do with the mini consoles/computers. It's always a blast finding new favorites!

Did you learn any Atari Basic for this?

It's one of the things I want to mess around with next! I do have some familiarity with Microsoft BASIC 😅

I just got mine and am a bit confused over the power supply. I thought when ordering it I could just plug it into one of my charging bricks, but I see they specify 5 volts, 1 amp AC? Not DC? Tried a Google search and didn't see anything that looked right. What are you using? BTW, I bought an Atari 800 back in the day - my first computer. Loved it! Even wrote a game program on it.

Flak, Rescue on a Fractuals, Fort Apocalypse, Ball Blazer, Panther, Blue Max absolute classics for the 800XL. I may have to buy one of these just to replay these titles.

I started with the Atari 2600. This is a very cool little console. I love retro game things, but I don’t stay up on it as much as I want to, so I do enjoy watching the videos.

I just missed out growing up with the Atari 2600. The NES was my first entry into video games but it's always fun to look back!

I prefer Amiga (or at least the A500 Mini) 😁🤫

@@retrotechdad I agree Amiga just has better games until the NES came out.

The Amiga was more capable and powerful than the Atari ST line. It also had a much larger library of games and software. The ST had its niche as a midi device for musicians, while graphic designers and video production people loved the Amiga.

That sweet 15fps for Amiga is amazing
