    Cutter laser burn ticks do % max health damage. Thats why it melts high health targets like terrormorphs

    • @FlynnTaggart23
      @FlynnTaggart23 10 месяцев назад +1

      and they don't have any armor or resistance to energy weapons on any level...
      & they list is of no use if you discard mods and legendary prefixes because they are in the game?
      A few things to note: the coachman with hornets nest mod is 5 times more powerful than any 40mm grenade launcher in the game. The grenade launchers both get 5 explosions from the mod, the coachman gets 5x5 or 25 explosions. It wrecks. The mod over rides all other damage mods and prefixes a bit like one inch punch does. So mod the gun for range and accuracy and a double mag prefix is the best.
      Like in fallout any of the high firerate low damage weapons are transformed with a legendary prefix that adds DOT, as they have such a high fire rate.. A burn or bleed DOT on a microgun/magstorm is crazy. Even the tesla DOT that is weak becomes good on a really high firerate gun as the "slows enemy down" effect makes them even easier to target and you have so many bullets falling to the ground doing the tesla thing it is constant.

    1. The Arc Welder should have been designed as an improved Cutter. It should be a mid game step-up cutter that mines all the stuff cutters mine, but faster and at longer range (or more yield and longer range), the lightning beam should have a (small) chance to stun enemy targets or a small chance to arc to multiple closely packed targets, and it should be on a cooldown like the cutter instead of using ammo. Just my opinion. The current version just doesn't do anything worth bothering with.
    2. Minigun and Magshear: Give them to companions. They have basically unlimited ammo, which eliminates their big practical weakness, and now your companion has a really strong weapon to mow down enemies with indefinitely.

    • @MrFalpha

      The arc welder as a heavy knock down weapon could be an interesting thing as well

    • @HuginMunin
      @HuginMunin 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@MrFalpha See, I'd put that on the rivet gun, which is also really underwhelming and has no real purpose currently.

    • @Skyblade12
      @Skyblade12 10 месяцев назад +2

      The Minigun is terrible on companions. They stop shooting all the time, which means they have to keep revving it up, resulting in them usually only getting two or three rounds off before stopping again. The AI isn’t built to determine that they need to keep the barrels spinning as they move from target to target.

    • @KurtFeudaleKing
      @KurtFeudaleKing 10 месяцев назад

      Your idea for the Arc Welder is really great. As is there is just zero reason to ever use it otherwise. I also really like the idea of it arcing (very logical too) which would be great for weak but multi or fast small enemies like heat leeches.

      @HuginMunin 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@Skyblade12 Hrm, that hasn’t been my experience, Andreja is an absolute murder machine with hers. One of the problems with Starfield theorycrafting is the game is buggy and inconsistent enough that coming to good conclusions based on observation is hard. In my play through, the companions struggle with any kind of sniping weapon, they strongly want to rush in to close range.

  • @EldritchGod666

  • @ostarakonrad9907

    The health matters for the cutter, high health enemies will melt, because the damage from rank 4 does a percentage of health. So a terramorph would die as fast as a spacer. Which is fast for the terrormorph but really slow for killing a spacer

  • @XNY_Music
    @XNY_Music 10 месяцев назад +7

    In my opinion, The Big Bang is potentially the best weapon in the game, owing to the fact that it can be upgraded to do 700- 800 damage per shot and ammo is widely available, epic and legendary versions just increase its appeal further, plus it looks distinctive.

    • @nomad_boreal

      Especially the Advanced version. As simplistic as it looks, it's actually the closest thing Starfield has to a BFG performance-wise.

    With the rivet gun you want to hold the attack key to charge it up and then shoot. BOOM! massive damage.

  • @OmegaSutol
    @OmegaSutol 9 месяцев назад +4

    Cutter is pretty easy to get OP with
    Laser = Burn for stackable % of damage
    Heavy = Focused laser now has damage reduction while your dealing higher damage (After both you've also raised base damage from 4 to 7)
    Targeting = while Hip-firing Raises the 12m range limit to 15m (Glitchy) also makes enemies drop their weapons
    Crippling = High chance to down an enemy, downed enemies take double damage, including burn damage

    • @ReapeeRon

  • @DatMageDoe
    @DatMageDoe 10 месяцев назад +7

    Most DoTs in this game are percentage based, including the Cutter's Fire DoT. This is why the Cutter is so strong against high health enemies, while being mediocre against level 50 enemies which most weapons can comfortably deal with. People overfixate on "Wow the Cutter can kill level 98 Terrormorphs like it's nothing!" without realizing that you typically aren't fighting Level 98 Terrormorphs, and that going in with an Advanced Orion or Novalight will produce much better results against the enemies that populate the lategame.

    Apparently the energy resistance of Terrormorphs doesn't increase with it's level unlike all of it's other resistances. Give the Arc Welder to Sarah. I also found the Magshear was more capable of tearing enemies apart than the Magstorm, but the Magstorm is definitely the best of the heavies..

    • @nomad_boreal

    0:38 "It's technically a tool, and its supposed to be used for breaking up rocks, and for that job i guess its the best because its the only thing that can do it."
    False, you can break rocks with literally every weapon, or even your fist. Ive had to resort to this a couple of times starting a new game plus before grabbing heller's and selling/dropping all my cutters.
    (Ive heard you can spawn one by "drawing you weapon" with your scanner open, but that didnt work for me.)

    Unfortunately the Hornets nest double barrel shotty is the superior grenade launcher purely on how easy ammo is to get for it. Its pretty corny at this point imo . The main 2 nade launchers are pretty decent, but I never seem to have enough shots to feel comfortable bringing it with me as a main weapon. They do outrange the hornet nest by a lot and that IS big points in their favor tbf.
    Heavy guns in general need a tune up I think. Like the rivet gun. You can only put like 3 weapon upgrades onto it and it still performs pretty middlingly. I think it makes sense to be able to super-modify something like the rivet gun. Being a standard tool, converted into some barbaric killing machine would be super sick.

    When I first saw the rivet gun I was so hoping that it would be like the Railroad Rifle from Fallout or the Penetrator from F.E.A.R and occasionally pin enemies since you're firing rivets into them. Honestly starfield feels kind of lack luster with it not having any kind of dismemberment like the Fallout games or Skyrim (I don't know if the older E.S. games have it)

    An important note about the rivet gun: I believe they can be charged for additional damage (and accuracy?)
    I haven't used a rivet gun since I first picked up a legendary version and was disappointed. It does very poor damage when fired normally, but iirc, it can be charged up and fired for much more damage. The problem is that the charge feature slows down the attack rate so much it still does terrible dps.
    There are several magazines that increase tool damage, but I don't think it would be enough.

    Not sure if you mised it or just didn't mention it but with the Rivet gun you can charge it up to do more damage. Its still a bit underwhelming tho like others had mentioned, it would be cool if it did something like super heated the rivets like the HL2 crossbow or something or maybe even larger rivets so itd be more like a spike launcher.

    I found a Legendary Bridger a few days ago and while I can't remember all of the effects on it (yes I know it only has three but I can't remember atm) the one that I thought was the coolest was the Titanium mod which makes it VERY LIGHT I mean the average weight on these are around 6lbs depending on mods/rolls and mine (with the legendary perk) weighs in at .28lbs. Yes..aprx 1/4 of a pound. I don't use it much (cause ammo is harder to find (even at vendors) then you might think) but since its so light I always have it on me.
