Thanks for the comment! I was twelve when the show started and I can't believe how much I still enjoy watching all great stuff people post from those years!! One of the few things that puts a genuine smile on my face...
I was 15 years old when Solid Gold came on the air. It was shown each Saturday afternoon in the Miami, Florida area. My brother, sisters, and I loved everything about it! Those were good times for us all. Thanks for the memories.
He did here in Southern California. I am not sure but I think other markets usually overdubbed his ticket notice with some station identification or what was up next on that channel.
Loved and enjoyed listening to Dionne singing this theme's show as well as the other one: 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous'. Incredible voice and memorable. It stands out!!
Did Robert W. Morgan always do a ticket plug on the end credits? I don't ever remember hearing him do this when the show was originally shown in syndication.
I was 2 when this show came out. It debuted N 1980, & expired N late July 1988. There should be a reunion, with Dionne Warwick, Marilyn McCoo, Arsenio Hall, Rex Smith, & another musician we all wish was still here, Andy Gibb.
Every Sunday nite at 7pm...on Channel 29 in Philadelphia.....was on the floor in front of the boob tube watching "SOLID GOLD".....miss those days...this brings me back...thnx..
Yes, KCOP-TV Channel 13 had first carried "Solid Gold" in the Los Angeles region and aired it at 7;00 p.m. on Saturday nights and at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoons. By sometime in 1983, the Saturday show went to 5:00 p.m. .Eventually, in its later years, "Solid Gold" moved to the old KHJ-TV Channel 9, through the tragic end of the series on July 23, 1988. KHJ-TV had been sold to The Disney Company in 1989, who then changed its call letters to KCAL-TV Channel 9 and eventually was sold to successive owners in 1996 and in 2002, becoming part of a CBS duopoly, of which it remains.
Thanks for your kind words. The editing isn't the greatest, but this is one of my 1st attempts. Did you notice the "costume change" in the closing? Both endings had "garbled" parts in them so I put in a little 3D transition and "voila!" new outfits instantly!! The tough part was making sure the music didn't give away the cut and paste job!! Thanks again!
@lbCharmed1 Thanks, and also, after the success of Solid Gold, Paramount Television gave us Entertainment Tonight and Mary Hart, John Tesh and Leeza Gibbons will ALWAYS be Entertainment Tonight
Not to me; as far as I was and remain concerned, the partners Ron Hendren and Dixie Whatley were the REAL anchor correspondents of "Entertainment Tonight Magazine." Sad to say, that magazine has declined in quality in subsequent years.
sadly Solid Gold has not been released in any form on video or dvd right??? i suspect it's that darn BIG music rights monster that stops any show that featured ANY type music from ever being released on video or dvd. Thank god for You Tube i will forever be 18...oh the good ol days
Perhaps from 1985-on, especially after Rick Dees and Scott Shannon started sharing chart data. But from 1980-85.... there was a definite void that could've been filled.
Darcel is an ICON !!!!!!
How weird and wonderful it is to see classic TV credits rolling--with no website listings! ;)

Takes me back to simpler times, too! You're welcome!

@reymatt76 I can relate. I always wanted some of those gold-ringed collums just to decorate my room.
I remember this came on on Friday Night at 11:30
OLD SCHOOL like a muhfugga!! Love it!!
RIP Tony
@tnawcwvictoria Yes they will.
You know, I've wondered..... why wasn't there a Solid Gold Countdown on the radio, with Radio and Records' chart data? Would it have been overkill?
Greg Palmer probably?
