  • April is Autism Awareness Month and we wanted to explore it as it relates to Black children in America in a brand new "REVOLT Black News Weekly." The condition is much more common among Black kids as compared to their white counterparts. The former tend to be diagnosed an average of 1 1/2 years later than white kids, which delays their appropriate treatment. Research also shows that Black children with intellectual disabilities often get misdiagnosed first and this further delays much-needed care. Why such a deep disparity? We explore now.
Inspired by Sean “Diddy” Combs’ successful “State Of Emergency: The State of Black America & Coronavirus” town hall, “REVOLT BLACK NEWS” is a platform that is designed to report news from the perspective of Black people for Black people.
“When I started REVOLT, I always wanted to develop a platform to report the news from our perspective, from our lens, from our people, so I decided to launch ’REVOLT BLACK NEWS,’” said Combs. “We’re here with solutions. We’ve already heard about what we can’t do, but this is what we can do.”
