Judging from the audience's reaction, I think they didn't cut to Steve's wife until a few seconds after we saw her on the jumbo screen. We see her & Steve for a few seconds and there's no reaction from the audience. Then suddenly there's a big laugh from everyone. They must have edited it in post to show them earlier than when the audience actually saw them up there.
Those 4 jokes in the middle of "Steve giving advice to Tina" are super solid and delivered so well. As evidenced by the laughter at the head table. You can tell Tina did Weekend Update for a few years.
It's amazing that Tina Fey could be standing on stage and sitting right next to Steve Martin in the balcony all at the same time. Someone at CERN should look into this.
Yeah I felt so bad for her: she definitely not a comedian, so she doesn't have the thick skin that a comedianne would have XD Tina landed that one hard lol...this was an AMAZING performance for her, and that's saying a lot: she's one of the funniest comedianne's out there today.
Would give anything to have seen Steve Martin at the Troubador in the early days playing his banjo and doing his stand-up. In these humorless times, have been watching old Johnny Carson shows to remind me how comfortable we used to be poking fun at ourselves. Recently watched Steve's "The Great Flydini" routine and got an oxygen-rush from laughing so hard. (Loved the Martin Short reference.)
And it was great that _Steve put his hand on hers to reassure her_ when he noticed she was getting shy from the attention. (Even though our view is shielded I’m sure that’s what he did.)
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are very close friends and they work together in a lot of shows (most famously in Saturday Night Live). So the joke is that Steve Martin don't know which is which between Tina and Amy.
Wow! Didn't think it was patronising till I said it in my mind from the man's point of view, "and now as you're about to undertake your greatest role, that of a mother..." All hell would have broken loose 😂
I always thought the scene in Baby Mama where Martin, as Tina's boss, rewards her for her work with a few moments of his undivided attention was Steve passing the torch, career-wise, to Tina, since I consider her the real heir apparent to him, at least in the sense that they are two performers who from the beginning, wrote their own way to opportunities, whether in screenplays (Roxanne, Mean Girls) or essays or books.
They have a partial likeness, I see what you mean. I thinks it’s the forehead. I recently revisited Annie Hall after many years and for the first time thought that the young Diane Keaton resembles Julie Delpy in some scenes. And then I realized Keaton usually covers her forehead but in this film there are a few scenes when she doesn’t, and that’s when I thought of the resemblance.
"There's a tiny word. It's not a noun, it's not a verb, it's not an adjective, I don't know what it is. But if you said it to me tonight, all this blackness would go away. You and I would be connected by a tunnel of light." "What's the word, Chris?" " 'Yes.' 'Yes,' Roxanne."
@@Sidolinha She said to support the neck because that’s what you do with newborns since you don’t want their head to flop. Martin Short is pretty small so she’s joking that you have to hold him like a newborn.
Very funny but I don’t find anything patronizing about mentioning how happy she is that he became a father. The statement reeks of feminism run amok. In fact, in his Oscar speech, he mentions it himself.
@Cody Short @fretbuzz59 This bitch is OBSESSED with Tina, stalks aaaaaall the videos with Tina and leaves pathetic, nasty ass comments. It's really sad and pretty hilarious. So fucking weird XD
My heart melt As I watch him support the shy moment of his wife ❤️🥺
Good comedic timing on the camera man for including Steve’s wife after Tina’s look-alike joke 😂😂

I love watching Tina Fey’s tribute speeches.
Man...that younger, thinner, smarter version of me really hit home
I don't think I've ever seen Lorne Michaels crack more than a faint smile at any joke...ever...and here he is busting up...wow!
It's amazing that Tina Fey could be standing on stage and sitting right next to Steve Martin in the balcony all at the same time. Someone at CERN should look into this.
Good one
Pardon?
Nothing like a good quantum entanglement joke to amuse the physics enthusiasts. Nicely done, JMG.
OMG..STEVE M has warm, insightful humor..rare person. Love u Steve.
Oo!! Steves wife looks genuinely flustered at that comment - and plays it off like a doll. So cute

Chris Ducat thick skin? Tina only gave her compliments.... younger, thinner, smarter. I think Steve Martin’s wife can handle those harsh words

I watch this over and over again love it
He said to me: "Amy..." Ah, Tina, the best comedy writer there is!
can someone please explain? I didn't understand that part

@@robsonneves6189 thanks!
lmao you been back a couple of times, see you soon
How do you know she wrote that line?
She has writers & typically these shows have writers as well!!

It's an old joke...
Geez, Tina Fey and Steve's wife, Anne Stringfield (sitting next to him) are practically twins!
she nailed it
"To be on time is a sign of weakness! There is no small parts, only small actors.."
and..Tina does the hot librarian look really well :)
Tina is so brilliant. So good goddammit.
the joke about his wife was so funny!!!
Talented, beautiful and funny as hell. Well that's my dream woman right there.
As far as father roles, she forgot "Simple Twist of Fate" that one was really heartwarming as well.
That was the most under rated and unSteve movie he made. I loved it. Another was Mixed Nuts, not typical Steve.
Wow! Didn't think it was patronising till I said it in my mind from the man's point of view, "and now as you're about to undertake your greatest role, that of a mother..." All hell would have broken loose 😂
The most surprising thing about this is Lorne. I've never seen him laugh. Wtf. Didn't know he had this emotion.
Hahahaha, well, it's not an audition.
Funny that she made that joke about his wife because that is what I thought when they showed them both on camera.
I love her!

Let me tell you how good Tina is - I laughed because I saw her face in the thumbnail
"If you're going to pick up Marty Short, be sure to support the neck." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tina Fey is the best 😍
Steve Martin's wife reminds me of a young Diane Keaton....his on screen wife in Father of the Bride 1 and 2...
singtweetypie You totally nailed it!

Tina kills!
That wife joke was really good xD
3:24 those hips.... Tina's got nothing to be ashamed of, she's damn hot.
I love Tina Fay ❤
I want my tombstone to read "Here lays Steve Martin's and Tina Fey's biggest Fan".
She is so funny you don't know what would she say next
Tina is great
Tina is just awesome!!!! love this lady!!!
She was so good on Only Murders
Love Steve Martin my favorite movie being Father of the bride.
I wish that Adam West was with us still. Oh yeah gotta have those wild and crazy guys here forever.
Tina is a genius.
She´s the epitome of hilarity
Roxanne was incredible work
"You, your nose was on time but you were fifteen minutes late."

Tina Fey and Steve Martin’s wife look so similar!
She should've given him 5 minutes of uninterrupted eye contact...LOL
I truly thought at the first video that woman was Tina, FOR REAL hahahahaha
I thought it was his daughter, until that joke.
3:12 this is peak comedy 😂
She's Steve's daughter.
I LOVE HOW LORNE MICHAELS TIS JUST TRYING HOLD HIS LAUGHTER AND FAILED WHAHAHSHSS
1:40 The AFI GUY AGAIN!!

2:44. Remember to support the neck!!! Ha ha ha!!!
The best part!!!
PS: why Tina its becoming hotter as long shes getting old???
She's not getting old, damn you! She's getting mature.
Can someone please explain this joke to me?

Wow thanks for explaining that didn’t get it
I'M WATCHING BABY MAMA NOW
Only the last sentence that count. 😆
Oh God, when I see her ,I automatically think of Sarah Palin.
I didn’t realize Steve Martin was married to Lisa Loeb.
His wife is younger sure, but not hotter imho.
Tina looks so gorgeous, so pretty and very intelligent. What is her IQ? Should be over 140
She's reasonably intelligent but I wouldn't put her in the genius category. My off the cuff guess would be around 110 maybe 115 IQ.
@@writerconsidered You obviously know nothing about IQ
The lesbian commitment ceremony joke 😂😂😂😂
The jerk is his best imo
Tina's speech pattern seemed a bit inspired by Sarah plain during this
I mean I don't agree with her at all, The Jerk is his funniest movie because it's closest to his Standup material.
Remember to support the neck 🤣🤣🤣
To this day Baby Mama is the worst movie I’ve ever tried to watch. So I smoked a bunch of pot and it actually got worse.
Julia is way prettier but not younger lpl
Why? He's been in...three(?) good films...
AFI...why?
The hilarious beret paradoxically expect because kick undeniably list within a past thistle. icky, overrated double
