    The nyckelharpa is a bowed instrument, originally built and played in Sweden. Dating back to the seventeenth century, but it is still very common in traditional Swedish folk music

       @felicegreece OK. If one has the talent and ability to learn string fingering (which after 77 years, I do not), then perhaps this woukd seem silly to you, especially if you can play a stringed instrument. However, comma, this application would make it easier for a keyboard artist to scratch out a melody on a fiddle. I can play the Hell out of 'most any keyboard from a 7 manual organ (Think Atlantic City - I've played it) through pianos, accordions and melodicas. But something that needs bowing, blowing or stumming? Nope.

    Chaconne in D minor is arguably one of the most complex and hard to play of Bach's violin partitas - on the violin for which it is originally written, it is hard and virtuosic enough - and yet you, sir, play it on the nyckleharp with such great nuance and ability! It is a flawless interpretation from a musician of great ability!

    • @PaulHofreiter
      @PaulHofreiter 4 месяца назад +7

      It would definitely present challenges that have a difficulty equal to intonation practice, to play it well and at this level at least. Even though it might not seem this way, gut strings with key mechanisms like this require a lot of sensitivity and nuance to play.

    • @farmergiles1065
      @farmergiles1065 Месяц назад +6

      It has rightfully been said by violin virtuosos that 90% of the instrument's technique is in the bow (and bow arm), just 10% in the left hand (intonation). As a former professional violist who has played this magnificent composition (on viola) I can attest to where this same proportion of technique applies to viola. Without argument, it applies to pretty much all bowed strings. As an easy way out for keyboardists, that's a definite no-go.

    バッハの時代、こうした肩掛けのチェロが現役でした。
    有名なチェロソナタも、こうしたスタイルで弾く「ヴィオラ・ダ・スパッラ」のために書かれたのではないかとも、言われていますよね。
    私も現に、当時の楽器を復元しての演奏を聴いたことがあります。
    その感想ですが、現代のチェロでは曲想に対して音色が重くなりすぎて、むしろ「スパッラ」の方が曲にしっくり来る聴き心地でした。
    この楽器は、指板の上の指で弦を押さえる代わりに、ネック下の沢山のレバーを使うんですね。
    素晴らしい音、演奏です。

    This is the first time I have seen and heard this peculiar musical instrument. There is so much more to learn about the fascinating world of baroque music.

    I'm classically trained, but hadn't run across this instrument before. What a delight! Thank you.
    I'm describing to friends (non-musicians) as a "bowed piano".
