  • On October 31, 1517 theology professor Martin Luther nailed 95 theses to the door of the church in Wittenberg. That action set off the Protestant Reformation, which dramatically changed both Germany and Europe. Today, many places still exist that recall the life and work of the religious reformer.

Thank you ELCA! We finally have authentic videos about Lutheranism and not from that other American Lutheran church. I always worried about their doctrine.

Luther died in 1546, so he wasn't doing any nailing in 1571. Most historians doubt that he really nailed his theses to the door at all, even in 1517 - it was just a legend made up over 100 years after his death. Weird that the video doesn't include Erfurt, where Luther lived for 14 years and where he went to university and joined the church to become a monk. It is where he formulated his ideas.

The bread recipe looks yummy - can you please tell me what cheese, herbs etc are used.
Also, I have found a recipe for Luther bread - is that what is used here?
I would love to try it - thank you.

Why don't they mention one of his best works depicting the absolute truth in the book he wrote, "The Jews and their Lies" by Martin Luther written in 1543?

No! Must every ELCA Lutheran knows that Luther's anti-semitism was wrong and a failing of him.
