I remember I started playing league in season 1. I was only 14 years old... Man I remember that I loved the "Seasons Maps" I don't know why there isn't a Christmas Map or Halloween Map anymore. Also loved 3vs3 Twisted Treeline in Halloween. To think that there are players that will never know about those maps because they were too young back in the day. Above all I think I loved season 3-4 of LoL, when they first implemented the League System in ranked and the game started to become a world hit (also loved those seasons because they were the tank seasons).
I still remember when I started playing League and I'd hear "30 seconds until minions spawn" , my heart would start pumping fast and id get very anxious like im going into war, lol. It really felt medieval and the games were super exciting
The extra fog of war and the general spooky ambience during this event was honestly great, I want them to bring this back tbh. Summoners rift events that change up the map like this and the snow version of the map were awesome
I belive there was a talent which made you gain +5 AD and AP if you have ignite on cooldown. I remember I used to fire off ignite first moment possible so I could gain some damage. Good times

I mean that is when it was closer to Dota than it's ever been. I did enjoy league. I think I played it up until about S2 or S3.. whenever Bruisers were as tanky as a tank but did more damage than a carry. Feels like a completely different game today.
That's because it was. I played this version of league 12+ hours a day for 7 seasons straight. I want to regret it in contrast to things I didn't do, but part of me still thinks _"Worth it."_

I've only recently gotten into League, and I honestly am SHOCKED that this is what the game looked like! It's like... reminiscent of what it is today but so very different. Specifically I think it's kinda funny that the graphics, animations, and UI are all wildly different, but the many of the sounds are the exact same.
Few pvp games have existed as long as league without any sequels. It’s interesting to think about how many small individual updates has changed the game from this to what we have today
It was fun being able to talk trash without chat ban. People would say some really funny stuff. Now we have to walk on egg shells it really takes away the fun.

It's super impressive how much content is still in the game, I imagine that some of the boots items in the store were redrawn almost exactly the same but in higher resolution or slightly cleaner. But still, the amount of SFX that are the same and still work well to this day. it's pretty insane how distinct that stuff was to still be relevent.

@@Eaglelioncourt Exactly! LoL used to have that dark fantasy theme in general, but it has been completely scrapped in favor of skinn selling anime girls and boys. Now even the horse (hecarim) has abs and every female character is meant to be attractive, and the general game has a more bright tone to it. I really miss that old League of legends, even though now it's actually somewhat better gameplay wise (people that says otherwise are talking by nostalgia, the gameplay is better now... The thing that's worse is the theme, that it's a crash grab. But then again, can't complain about that, the game is free)

I love nighttime environments. Also duo melee bot is so much funner than the regular ADC/Sup combo. Older theme is worse though.

what I love about this, is that champions had simple interactions back then. The champion kits from this season is super simple, but yet more than enough to make a competitive game.
Imagine you threw an Aphelios into this match, absolutely wild. One of the reasons Irelia and Kassadin were so strong back in the days, mobility was kinda rare, complicated kits didnt exist... Good times
Its already enough how Jarvan can move forward and lock people with himself in a kind of arena. I like how simple and risky that is. He cant just dash 4 times, becomes invisible then do a shit ton of damage while dodging everything like reworked Akali does. It just breaks the game... No matter how good at the game it makes you look like, its still unfair for the poor Annie player that can only flash + R you every 5 minutes.
God that old map is so visually creative. It seems like so much heart was put into the lighting. They could’ve went the generic route and made it all green but it has that nighttime feel where all the lights are orangeish-red and its super cozy and cool. They should really add custom maps into the game.
2 people top, random champions. No jungle, no support. Feels so nostalgic. A game where you could pick any champ and go to any line. No toxicity, no rules, just fun. E-sports teams and streamers killed the essence of this Game for me.
this is incredible. an hd recording of the first days of league... usually when i try to find gameplay i only find 144p like footage.. i loved it so much the game feels way more alive than nowadays, where its so soulless and just full tryhard, almost like a job

You just reminded me a sad memory that Twisted Treeline existed and doesn't anymore :(. It was the most fun I had in League hands down. I was 1/3 of a 3 person best friends group. And shit did we have fun, both losing and winning in 3v3 some of my best memories of online gaming ever. P.S. I mained AP Sion, shit was so fun
I fully agree tbh. Looking at this made me really think back to when there wasn't some huge sense of urgency in every moment of the game. Now that there's all these champs with tons of mobility and insane carry potential, topped off with the degree to which gameplay and pacing has been optimized. It just makes for a rushed experience the entire time, it's hard to stop and appreciate anything that's going on when you have to rush to the next objective or push for some advantage every single second of the game. I miss the good ol' days when mobility was limited to a select few champions, and everyone was still generally floundering around trying to figure out what they were doing so everything was way slower paced.

I remember these days with such good memories. Teemo top lane with a double phantom dancer infinity edge bloodthirster and Hextech gunblade build. The game was so much more fun when nobody had any clue what they were doing and no meta had really been developed yet.

Nostalgic for me but I really wish they would bring back seasonal maps because this Halloween map and the old Christmas one were very good.

I love watching old League videos, a time that I grew up with... Well, not so much grew up but like very start of highschool League was coming out Season 0/1... Picked it up right as Season 2 started.. The pro scene and community... so vocal and chatty and nice honestly... Game had so much charm. It's just corporatized and bland as fuck now.

season 3 is still the best season for me. Almost all the boys in school played it, formed a team, challenged other classes. It was fun back then, currently I still play it every late night but not enjoy anymore, I and my friends just don't know or don't like which games that fast, fun, not time consuming to play together. Bro Pre Season 1 was the best. Taric+ Garen bot lane was insane, and a semi stacked sion was a literal god back then . Gave Sion Leviathan, Warmogs, Force of Nature, and some Armor Item, and he was unkillable, like literally. And just 1 atmas impaler with phantom dancer would make him an unstoppable killing machine

Crazy how different the game is now compared to then. I still remember well when the game came out. Before it I was playing Dota as the Warcraft 3 custom game. Then this came out and I played it so much. In those early days, people kinda just played whatever and it was fun to do that.

what I love about this, is that champions had simple interactions back then. The champion kits from this season is super simple, but yet more than enough to make a competitive game.
Imagine you threw an Aphelios into this match, absolutely wild. One of the reasons Irelia and Kassadin were so strong back in the days, mobility was kinda rare, complicated kits didnt exist... Good times

Its already enough how Jarvan can move forward and lock people with himself in a kind of arena. I like how simple and risky that is.
He cant just dash 4 times, becomes invisible then do a shit ton of damage while dodging everything like reworked Akali does. It just breaks the game... No matter how good at the game it makes you look like, its still unfair for the poor Annie player that can only flash + R you every 5 minutes.
God that old map is so visually creative. It seems like so much heart was put into the lighting. They could’ve went the generic route and made it all green but it has that nighttime feel where all the lights are orangeish-red and its super cozy and cool. They should really add custom maps into the game.

There are custom maps, it’s just client side though. I miss the seasonal map changes however

2 people top, random champions. No jungle, no support. Feels so nostalgic. A game where you could pick any champ and go to any line. No toxicity, no rules, just fun. E-sports teams and streamers killed the essence of this Game for me.

this is incredible. an hd recording of the first days of league... usually when i try to find gameplay i only find 144p like footage.. i loved it so much the game feels way more alive than nowadays, where its so soulless and just full tryhard, almost like a job

Those times there was a rune which granted like 10-20 AP when ignite was on cooldown, but Annie didn't use it for some reason.

You just reminded me a sad memory that Twisted Treeline existed and doesn't anymore :(. It was the most fun I had in League hands down. I was 1/3 of a 3 person best friends group. And shit did we have fun, both losing and winning in 3v3 some of my best memories of online gaming ever.
P.S. I mained AP Sion, shit was so fun

I fully agree tbh. Looking at this made me really think back to when there wasn't some huge sense of urgency in every moment of the game. Now that there's all these champs with tons of mobility and insane carry potential, topped off with the degree to which gameplay and pacing has been optimized. It just makes for a rushed experience the entire time, it's hard to stop and appreciate anything that's going on when you have to rush to the next objective or push for some advantage every single second of the game.
I miss the good ol' days when mobility was limited to a select few champions, and everyone was still generally floundering around trying to figure out what they were doing so everything was way slower paced.

Changed into a bland map that has no unique or strong vibe to it.. The only thing I like in the new map is the Gromp area with the mushrooms.

OG normal map was kind of color vomit tbh. Nostalgic for me but I really wish they would bring back seasonal maps because this Halloween map and the old Christmas one were very good.

I love watching old League videos, a time that I grew up with... Well, not so much grew up but like very start of highschool League was coming out Season 0/1... Picked it up right as Season 2 started.. The pro scene and community... so vocal and chatty and nice honestly... Game had so much charm. It's just corporatized and bland as fuck now.
ahhh... season 1, a wholesome age of discovery such that there was no reason to flame anyone, because there was no meta yet. I'd give so much to go back to such simpler times.

@@FloofersFX it seems like you didnt play back them, there were plenty of bugs and it was easier to exploit the game. It was still really good, s1-s3 were my favourite. Also miss the 3v3 mode :(
season 3 is still the best season for me.
Almost all the boys in school played it, formed a team, challenged other classes.
It was fun back then, currently I still play it every late night but not enjoy anymore, I and my friends just don't know or don't like which games that fast, fun, not time consuming to play together.

Crazy how different the game is now compared to then. I still remember well when the game came out. Before it I was playing Dota as the Warcraft 3 custom game. Then this came out and I played it so much. In those early days, people kinda just played whatever and it was fun to do that.
bruh this makes me so nostalgic :( back then my most favourite feature of the game was the ability to honor an opponent for their sportsmanship and it also made the community so much more friendly back then

I started playing in 2016, me and my friends loved playing twisted treeline and even now we wish we could've played old rift. The map looked so good and easy on the eyes unlike new rift.

-No jungler
-Guy barely uses TAB
-Fortify summoner spell
-No pings (only enemy target)
-Music was different
-No flash
-Cho'Gath Q area doesn't appear on floor when cast
-Old silent sound effect when Cho'Gath W
-Health bars are all the same color
-Cannon creep goes the last in the row (Currently it goes in the middle)
-People were already flaming each other in all chat
