What do you think...is the "Grey Stuff" supposed to be sweet or savory? 🦀
Jello and Oreos in France in the 1800s? That definitely wasn't supposed to be it lol, Disney is lying with this cookbook! I honestly think it's supposed to be some sort of liver pate which definitely is delicious, but may not work well for this cookbook.
Nah grey stuff is definitely supposed to be savory. I don’t buy it
It’s sweet at the be our guest restaurant at Disney but like, it would be sick if it were crab. PLEASE DO MORE DISNEY RECIPES
For the movie I always figured it was supposed to be savory. Like fancy pâté or even made with mushrooms or truffles? But at Disneyland it's been cookies and cream since they introduced it lol
"there was something I wanted to try~~~"
random fact: in a food theory video they say it's foie gras (goose fat), a delicacy during the time period of Beauty and The Beast, but they didn't serve it this way because it needed to force-feed geese to get the right amount of fat
Yeah and they wouldn’t be able to sell as much, difficult getting a kid to eat that
But that's just a theory... A FOOD THEORY! BON APPETITE!
foie gras is still a delicacy, it is quite pricey and people have it during holiday season in france
FOOD THEORY😆🤩
@@Abril_is_queen Whaaaat, liver paste (made from pig liver) is one of the most common sandwich toppings here in Sweden! Lots of kids love it.
It was likely meant to be savory in the film: Babish figured that it was a liver pate. But good luck getting kids to try that. Plus, liver can be difficult for most people to procure.
So instead, it’s cookies and cream.
I believe it was supposed to be a goose liver. But that dish has been banned in a lot of countries because it is considered inhumane. Since to get liver in the conditions for this dish they would have to force feed geese.
@@moon_mouse8050 Yes, and even if made humanely (with livers of normal geese) it definitely isn't the taste everybody likes, especially children, and Disney probably aimed for food that most children would enjoy.
@@moon_mouse8050 Well I can definitely see why that was banned then. That’s horrible
I remember a Film Theory video covering this, stating it was likely a Foie Gras, and given it’s liver, and outlawed in many countries… yeah it’s not hard to tell why they didn’t keep it 100% film accurate lol
@@chloescreations8410 that's honestly how I know about this.
Historically, I've read that it would've been foie gras, but Disney backtracked when this movie came out and there was a ton of animal rights issues regarding it 😅
That makes a lot more sense because this sweet recipe uses eggs which would have been difficult to source considering Belle’s town had a major egg shortage because Gaston eats too many damn eggs. He ate several DOZEN eggs a day since he was a boy. There’s no way a servant to the selfish prince would be able to eat something made with that expensive and rare of an ingredient.
@@daisywu5114 what
@@spacesurfer901 Gaston caused the egg shortage
@@Sandstimes Is this another common theory online?
Were there animal rights issues regarding not serving goose fat at the parks or was it also in the movies?
It is savory, they just changed it so it can be sold at the theme parks to children
Looks amazing!
Also love the "I just met this dude should I eat it" lmaoooo
I definitely thought it was like liver paté but this probably sells better 😅
And kids are more likely to eat it
I mean oreos and pudding are generally more humane than force feeding ducks until they die so I approve of the more commercialized form of the Grey stuff lol. Duck liver isnt exactly consumer friendly or kid friendly from Disney's perspective but I've heard it tastes good.
1. Foie gras is geese
2. The force feeding isn’t lethal, just unethical
Not that I support if just that it is kinda misinformation
@@marisstaff7019 lmao dude this comment is almost a year old. With the assistance of Google it must be known that foie gras can be duck or goose.... and I mean I guess you could argue that it being unethical doesnt mean lethal, but it is still torturing an animal to a degree where it couldn't really survive and then its killed.
When u said “six eggs. That’s to expensive!” That made me laugh 😂😂
The eggs are so expensive cos Gaston keeps eating them all, causing inflation
@@WolfgangDoW Damn, you cracked the case
@@WolfgangDoW Gaston is also inflating, from the eggs
“There was something there~~~” I caught that 💛💛💛
This was so cute with all three Beauty and the Beast references!☺🤍🥀
🎵If There Was Something🎵 that I wanted to try 😂
I love that you were able to fit so many references into this tiny video 😭💛
You should totally make a series on creating Disney foods!!! It’s would be amazing 🤩
Ok, but the “need six eggs” reference was the best part of this.
I always thought the grey stuff was like a liver pâté
Specifically it’s probably meant to be foie gras.
the grey stuff is pate, disney are just cowards
well the way it's made is fucked up tbh
Disney wants their food to actually sell though, try getting a little kid to eat liver pate in a theme park and I think you'll understand the rebrand
I always thought it was foie gras. When I was a child I was obsessed with cooking shows, and I remember watching Good Eats and learning about it and how it’s French.
It’s actually supposed to be foie-gras. But bc foie-gras is really expensive and also banned due to the fact that the way you get foie-gras is animal abuse & barbaric, Disney changed it to something sweet like cookies & crème.
My cousin served this at her bridal shower. So delish!
They made it a cookies and cream thing to avoid the animal cruelty
"Try the brown stuff. It's delicious." Sounds sus.
Grey*
@@HoneyBabe. You missed it🤦♀️🤣💞 They know. They're saying that because THIS version Jeanelle made , is brown vs the now illegal liver pate referenced in the cartoon....
@@myishacherry7242 oh sorry 😅
In the Live Action movie, the "Grey Stuff" was Caviar.
SHE CAN SING. ❤
In the movie it was definitely meant to be savory. It was on a plate with lots of savory food and chocolate wasn't really a thing that they made desserts like that out of yet so they would have had to be absolute pioneers in cooking to make something like that... Film theory did a video saying it was probably foie gras which is pretty unethical to make so it would make the rebrand make the most sense. But in the film it's definitely a mushy savory food that wouldn't go over very well in cookbooks and parks 😅
What’s the most crunch food you ever had
I was even more surprised to learn about this cookies and cream thing because the version of the song that I grew up with directly references the fact that this is a duck liver pate or foie gras (the Castilian dub). They call it duck liver because it's what rhymes with the next line. Seeing people who only grow up with the English version of the movie say that this is a "theory" is also kind of weird to me.
Doug absolutely bombed that
hell yeah brotha
@@doug7892 🤣🤣
It’s amazing how you grew so much! I remember how I used to watch your old videos and you trying your best to make your own foods and let’s just say you weren’t that good (but not as bad as me 😭) as you were still learning and now look at where you are! I’m very proud of your accomplishments!! Keep making more delicious food for me to see and thank you for your videos that makes my mouth water haha ❤😂
Matpat (from food theory) actually theorized that the grey stuff is Fra gras (idk how to spell it 😭)
I think Matt Pac figured it out, I'm not sure, which RUclips. So yes, it is supposed to be savory.
But since they made nonchalant, it can be whatever you want to be.
" 🎶 there was something there 🎶 i wanted to try" this is pure genius quote ❤
Cookie pudding on a cookie? YES sounds like heaven
I loved all the little song references :D
Love the dress, adorable.
Thank you! 😊
I got the book for 20 dollars and it’s been the best thing I really recommend it
Grey stuff from Disney land is BOMB
Love all the song references ❤
we need a disney/movie food series now
THE INTRO WAS SO CUTE LOL💓
Wahh your dress looks pretty on you 😘
thank you! i really love it
😂 the tealights 😂 😂 😂 😂
Great puns! Well done! Seriously!
The Grey stuff was savory most likey fois Gras. Disney changed it for the cookbook and restaurants at their parks
I heard somewhere that when the live action film came out several years back they had ‘grey stuff’ in one (or more) of the parks and it was raspberry flavored? I didn’t try it but I distinctly remember that knowledge
I just love the voiceover on this lol
I’m loving the Beauty and the Beast references!
Love the outfit ❤
Sister Slaying
Omg that’s so cool! I love all the references!
If it’s French food in the time period it’s supposed to be in then it’s salmon mousse
For the past 2 days, I've been performing at my high school play for Beauty and the Beast as Lumiere, I never understood what that grey stuff as, but it's funny that I just found this video
This is brilliant!
That's so cool
Lumiere cracked me up
LMAO I LOVE THIS
Trying the white stuff! Its dElicious..
Haha I just had my last show of beauty and the beast (highschool production) yesterday when this was posted!
Fact I tried to make this exact recipe a few weeks ago is funny to me but for me it always been a sweet thing 😅
i had the grey stuff at disney world, it was a cupcake with grey frosting lol
The grey stuff is overfed duck liver
I need this book
Delicious food
I'm pretty sure it was meant to be foie gras as that was a popular expensive dish at the time of Beauty and the beast takes place, but you can't exactly make it under good conscience since it requires you to basically force feed ducks until their stomachs are four times their regular size, it's also illegal in quite a lot of countries.
Love the dress, you look great in it!! 🌸🌸 It's cool to see a Disney recipe 🍰🍰
Thanks so much! 😊
@@Jeanelleats You're welcome!!🥳🌸
Yum 🤤
The grey stuff is supposed to be pate iirc. But in park iterations it's always been a dessert, usually a cake or something. I've had it twice at parks and one time it was a red velvet thing and another time it was a raspberry and chocolate mousse thing.
FINALLY EATING THE WHITE STUFFFFFFF
You should try Tiana's favorite dish from princess and the frog if it's in the Disney cookbook
Am I the only one who thought she looked preggo in the clip holding up the book but then I thought it's just the way the dress looks on camera 😅
You should try the Grey stuff it's Delicious..* should I try it? I just met this dude-*was to funny🤣
Matpat has entered the chat
I come for the singing.
It was always chicken liver pate as far as I was concerned, since liver oxidises and turns grey when cooked
It’s most likely foie gras. It’s made from fatty goose liver and it’s not often made in many places due to the fact that it’s considered inhumane. It involves force feeding the geese so their livers become fattier
I remember in the live action movie they used caviar
The gray stuff has to be like pâté or something!
It was most likely goose liver
This has been my favorite vid you've made so far
hahah thanks! i let my goofier side take control on this one
Yum 😋
LOL cute!
Try the brown stuff it’s delicious
It has been proven that it is a savory dish but never what it actually is there are quite a few theories that is a band dish but it wasn't banned at the time of filming
“Should I try it? I just met this dude.." the way she was so suspicious 💀👌
Who else thought about the MatPat’s theory on food theory😂
Come to malaysia its a food heaven here
It was meant to be a liver mousse: they just knew kids wouldn't want to make liver anything so they changed it
I did it for my cousins son's birthday I blended Oreos, until fine crumbs and mix it with cool whip and poured the mixture into a graham Pie Crust, it was oreo Pie, but everyone said it's Grey stuff, I even decorated the top with more whipping cream and oreo crumbs, but yes it looked Grey, but it was Oreos
I always thought it was Foie Gras. Foie Gras is a rich delicasy often served to royals--in this case the Beast's royal family.
Having it as cookie-and-cream pudding is honestly more of a kid's friendly version. 😅
Her : "What do you think about the 'Grey Stuff' ?"
Me : that it should be grey...😂😂
I wish you could make it into a lightly ube flavored treat- I don’t really like ube when it has a strong presence in a dish
I always thought it was like a gray of something
Its actually fatty duck/goose liver, this is a Disney-ified version esp since the process is inhuman to the birds
I always thought it was something like poi? Could be remembering the name wrong, but that grey palate cleanser they have in Hawaii
Lol the gray stuff is actually a liver delicacy according to French history 😂
I always think of it being a plate of snail meat in garlic butter 😅
jeanelle plz tell me which lipstick do you use. you look soooo cute in that lipstick shade
I thought it was that goose paste sauce? My late grandpa knew some recipes using it.
You should try the white stuff 💀
Supposedly the grey stuff is historically supposed to be (idk how to spell it but I can describe it) fatty bird liver pate. Which btw is savory
That is brown stuff, but it looks just as good!
Right? I had to scroll for ages to find this comment!
