  • Was Leonardo da Vinci good in the paint? Let me explain!
As the oldest fans know, the renaissance era of the NBA was stacked with star players, like Christopher Columbus, Galileo Galilei and William Shakespeare.
Drafted in the 1471 season, Leo was an intriguing prospect, playing in Italy. He didn´t impress the scouts with his athleticism or wingspan, but with his basketball IQ that allowed him to score a lot in the paint.
Scouts also noted his performances were significantly better when baddies were watching him courtside.
During his career, he made two memorable plays.
First, the crossover on Isaac Newton, that made him fall on the floor. After that, Newton was forced to explain the concept of gravity to the fans in order to reduce the humiliation.
And the block against the dunk attempt of his biggest rival, Michelangelo, showing he can jump too. Don´t forget Michelangelo had an insane vertical leap, which allowed him to paint the Sistine Chapel ceiling. A detail that makes the block even more impressive.
After retirement, he wrote books analysing the trajectory of a free throw and the optimal angle for a layup.
Da Vinci´s legacy will be forever remembered, as the man who transformed basketball into a form of art.
